GEREN, Grace Mary (née YUILL)
'…and his banner over me was love.' Song of Solomon 2: 4
Grace Mary GEREN passed away in the Oromocto Public Hospital in the early morning of Monday, January 14. She was born in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, on March 22, 1921. She was the youngest child of James Alexander and Sarah Mayme (STRINGER) YUILL. She is survived by her daughter Wendy Lee, son Richard James (Alexis), grandchildren Jennifer and Christopher GEREN, great-grand_son Keith James GEREN, and her constant companion Miss Kitty. For several years she was involved with the Oromocto United Church where she used her talent as a banner artist to beautify and enhance the church's interior. She was wife to Dick for 60 years. In the early 1950s, they moved to the northern wilderness of Quebec so that Dick could pursue his career in mining. Upon retirement they chose to settle in Oromocto where they shared many happy years together. She was predeceased by her husband, sisters Hester and Doris, and brother John Alexander. Our mother was a vibrant, creative, generous and caring person whose life touched many Friends from coast to coast. A service to celebrate Grace's life will be held on Saturday, January 19 at 2: 00 p.m. at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street, Oromocto, New Brunswick, with Rev. Robert MacDowell officiating. A reception will take place immediately following the service in the funeral home. We ask that anyone wishing to make a donation in Grace's memory to please do so by giving to the charity of their choice.
