Peacefully at Richmond Hill Leisureworld on Saturday, April 12, 2008. Dearly loved husband to Margaret (née PIPER) for 56 years. Loved father of Robert (Rob) (Marilyn) and Sheila. Proud Grandpa 'D' to Christie, Shannon, Sarah and Rebekah (Beki). Lou is survived by his brother Peter, predeceased by his brother Tom and sister Mary, and Parents Vasil and Sveta. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Brothers Tom, Pete and Lou built and operated Surf Marine, at 9002 Yonge St. in 1957. They later manufactured Surf Master Boats as well. Both of his brothers retired from the business in the mid 1970's and Lou in 1981. Surf Marine remained in business for several years under different proprietorships. Lou continued in the marine business as a manufacturers rep until he retired in 1997 and moved to Sutton. Lou was a patient at Leisureworld for over three years. The family would like to thank the staff for their kind care and attention to Lou during his stay. Friends may call at Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill (4th traffic light north of Major Mackenzie) on Monday, April 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Service in the Chapel on Tuesday, April 15, at 1: 30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate remembrances sent to York Central Hospital or the Parkinson's Foundation.
