HYKEL, Milan " Mike" Wenceslas
(June 24, 1928-June 7, 2008)
Milan died peacefully at Saint_Joseph's Health Centre after a brief illness. Much loved husband of Beverley. Proud father of Peter and John, their wives Kimberly SAINT_DENIS and Vivian CHEUNG. Cherished grandpa of Justin and Kaitlin, Kristofer and Audrey. Dear brother of Lubomir (Brigita) and uncle of Charles (Dita) and Dudy (Zuzana), great-uncle of Dominik and Celestina. Milan will be greatly missed by members of the extended Jenkins family, his relatives and Friends in the Czech Republic and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Predeceased by his parents Frantiska and Ferdinand. Milan spent his early years in the village of Stramberk, Czechoslovakia and in Prague. In 1946, he journeyed to England where he studied textile engineering. Milan planned to return to Czechoslovakia to become involved in his father's clothing manufacturing business however, due to the political situation at the time he followed his father and brother to Toronto in 1951. He was subsequently employed by the Robert Simpson Company, Sears Canada and Triton Industries. Always an avid tennis player, Milan's retirement in 1988 enabled him to spend many more happy hours on the courts at the Boulevard Club. Funeral Service will be held at Turner and Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke (between Kipling and Islington Aves.) on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 1 o'clock, with visitation from 12: 00-1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sleeping Children Around the World, The Alzheimer Society of Ontario or The Canadian Diabetes Association. Special thanks to the staff at Lakeshore Lodge 2N, for their care and kindness to Milan this past year.
