After a lengthy battle with cancer Austin passed into eternal rest at the age of 80 on Sunday, June 8th, 2008 at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. Loving husband of the late Dorothy EMACK and sadly missed by Helen HEASMAN a long-time companion to Dorothy and himself and whose support and care were always there until the end. Austin is survived by his brother Bruce and sister Iola BRADLEY. Predeceased by his brother Joe and sisters Hazel, Rita, Helen and Doris. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at the Dods and McNair Funeral Home and chapel, 21 First Street, Orangeville on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 1: 00 p.m. The family will receive Friends 1 hour prior to service time. SLOAN, E. Louise
Passed away peacefully on April 17, 2008 at the Isabel and Arthur Meighen Manor. Loving wife of the late Douglas A. SLOAN. Predeceased by her sister Jean THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, brother Jack THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, and brother-in-law Scotty EMANS. Cherished mother of Dianne (Peter GILLIN) and David (Irene READER.) Beloved grandmother of Sarah, Andrew, Elizabeth and Claire GILLIN and Matthew SLOAN. Louise is survived by her sisters-in-law Evelyn THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON and Ilene EMANS and her nieces and nephews, Susan, Nancy, Carol, John and Karen, Scott, Susan, Cathy. She was born on February 4, 1920 in Fernie, British Columbia. The family moved east to Kingston where Louise studied nursing, and later enlisted as a Nursing Sister, with the Canadian Army Medical Corps, serving overseas during the Second World War. Upon her return she met and married Douglas in 1948. Doug's career in mining necessitated many moves which Louise embraced; enjoying meeting new Friends through her contributions to community organizations, including church life at Downsview United Church, The Canadian Opera Women's Committee, curling and her bridge games at the Granite Club. Her devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her life. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to her devoted caregivers Zenaida, Francia, Rosalia and Vicky.
Her funeral service will be held at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, 230 St. Clair Avenue West on Tuesday, April 22nd at 2: 00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army, 2 Overlea Blvd., Toronto, Ontario M4H 1P4 or to Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, 230 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, Ontario, M4V 1R5.

CANN, Doris Violet (née WOODHOUSE)
Peacefully and with family beside her at the family home in ‘Griersville', St. Vincent Township, on Friday, April 25, 2008. Born in Euphrasia Township, a daughter of the late Violet Florence (née) DOBSON and Frederick William WOODHOUSE. Doris CANN, in her 80th year, predeceased by her beloved husband Reginald Alexander CANN in June 2005. Much loved mother of Carol and her husband Doug BOWINS and Larry CANN and his wife Barb, all of Meaford; Lonnie CANN and his wife Penny of Markdale; Barb and her husband Bill SADLER also of Meaford; and Sherry and her husband Charles DEAL of Cambridge. Sadly missed by eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren: Scott and Susan BOWINS and their children Sam and Shelby, Tanya BOWINS and her son Eric, Lori and Jeff WILLIAMS and their children Hayley and Tate, Marsha and Darryl MOLAND and their daughters Emma and Julia, Amy CANN (Murray FIFE,) Michelle and Matthew JUBY and their children Morgan, Drew, Logan and Carly, Amanda and Chad RONEY and their children Jacob, Emily, Jordan and Summer, Adam MANELLA, Matthew MANELLA (Candise GLEASON,) and Chris and Melissa SADLER. Predeceased by a granddaughter Andrea and a great-granddaughter Lily. Dear sister of Lloyd WOODHOUSE and his wife Jean and Harold Woodhouse and his wife June all of Heathcote and predeceased by a brother Arnold WOODHOUSE and remembered by his wife Dorothy. Sister-in-law of Jessie (late Robert LACKEY) of Orangeville, Mary (late Leslie) BREADNER of Heathcote, Viola GRAHAM (late Ernie BURGOYNE), Verna (late Murray HODGKINSON), Blanche (Mrs. Keith KNIGHT) and Elgin CANN and his wife Marlene all of Meaford. Also predeceased by sisters-in-law Wilma WOODHOUSE and Irene EMARY. Fondly remembered and special Aunt of many nieces and nephews and their families. A private family funeral service, officiated by Peter McDONALD of the Church of Christ, will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 with committal and interment services to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
