STURGIS, Lillian Jean (formerly CHESNEY, ne LAW)
Age 74 of Dresden passed away Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Public General Campus. She was born in Chatham daughter of the late George and Nellie QUICK) LAW. Lillian was a member of Evangel Pentecostal Tabernacle, Dresden. Beloved wife of Bill STURGIS; loving mother of Debbie and Peter EPP of Dresden and Jeff Chesney and Carrie BROWNING of Dresden dear step-mother of Patricia and Doug VANDENBROEK of Huntsville and Paula and Al CECCACCI of Chatham; special grandmother of Kristen EPP of Toronto, Nicholas EPP of Dresden and Lisa CAMPBELL of Corunna; dear step-grandmother of William CECCACCI of Chatham. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her first husband William CHESNEY (1986.) Friends will be received at the Thomas L. DeBurger Funeral Home, 620 Cross Street, Dresden on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the Evangel Pentecostal Tabernacle, Dresden on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at 1: 30 p.m. with Rev. HORNE, Leslie Esmond, R.C.N.V.R., (F.R.C.S.C)
September 9, 1918 to June 25, 2007, at Victoria, British Columbia. Born in Victoria, son of William Henry HORNE and Joan Margaret STEVENSON. Survived by son Rolfe (Deirdre RICE,) Victoria; daughters Leslie (Greg WEBER,) Vancouver, and Peggy, Toronto; grandchildren Liam and Christopher HORNE, Ben WEBER, Jesse MYKOLYN, Ashley PERKINS and Marshall HORNE; brother Ian and sister Dafeny, Victoria step-children Christopher and Dennis TRUMPY and Pamela CECCO. Predeceased by wife Margaret Rolfe Seaborne (1966), son Ian (1999), sister Peggy and brothers Edgar, Harold, and Derek, as well as Shirley HORNE and step-daughter Alison BODINETZ. Remembered by sisters-in-law Nola HARVIE, Toronto and Anne THOMSEN (and Poul,) Wolfville, Nova Scotia, nieces and nephews across Canada, and Maureen HADDOW, Montreal.
Elisabeth attended Victoria College and the University of Alberta before serving with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve during World War 2. He was commander of the H.M.C.S. Halifax from September 1944 to December 1945. He met Margaret in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, during a ship's refit, and they married in 1944. After the war, Elisabeth and Margaret lived in Toronto, where he continued his medical studies and completed his specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 1954, the family took up residence in Victoria, Es' beloved native city. Elisabeth practiced medicine there for four decades. An avid sailor and builder of boats from childhood, Elisabeth was a past Commodore of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club. His respect for and knowledge of the sea were immense.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to World Vision Canada ( A gathering of Friends will be held at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, 3475 Ripon Road, Victoria, on Sunday, July 8 at 1 p.m.

HORGAN, Patricia Elizabeth Jane (ne BROWNE)
Suddenly but peacefully in her sleep at age 84, on Wednesday September 12, 2007. Pat was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim in 2002. She was the proud and loving mother of Janet HENSHALL, Susan TURCOT (John), Drew (Sonya FITTERER), and Ann MacKENZIE (Bill MAGILL.) She found joy in sharing in the lives of Gillian HENSHALL, Kevin TURCOT, Victoria MacKENZIE, William and Melanie MAGILL and Peter CECIL as grandmother and in the lives of Aaron and Katelyn as "Big Grandma." Pat leaves her sister, Kathy RICHARDSON (Jim) and their family. Born in 1923, Pat was the daughter of Charles Holden BROWNE and Pauline Olive MINTERN. She was a proud member of the W.R.C.N.S. and served in Motor Transport in World War 2 at H.M.C.S. York and Esquimault. Her many stories reveal treasured memories of early years with her family in North York, at Earl Haig Collegiate, young people's at Saint_John's York Mills and the Wrens. Pat created an engaging home for her family, firstly in Willowdale, then in Swansea and at Catchacoma. She was involved in her community, belonging to the Study Group, St. Olave's Anglican Church Women groups, and Swansea Historical Society. She was active in the early days of the CAC consumer group and was coordinator of Meals on Wheels in the west end for several years. Pat enjoyed developing new relationships while maintaining her treasured Friendships. Friends may call at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane subway on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 p.m. followed by a service to celebrate Patricia's life in the Chapel on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 4 p.m. If desired, donations made be made to ALS Research, c/o Dr. Lorne ZINMAN, Sunnybrook Health Science Centre, 2075 Bayview Avenue, Room UG26, Toronto, M4N 3M5.
