After a battle with cancer, God's choir of Angels have called home Gerardus VERMEEREN to join in his Heavenly chorus. Gerardus "Gerry" VERMEEREN of Tillsonburg on Friday, January 6, 2006, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, at the age of 69 years. Born in Holland, November 8, 1936, son of the late Gerard VERMEEREN and the later former Adriana STEVENS. He was a member of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Tillsonburg; the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Reverend Father Joseph M. Burke Assembly, Ingersoll, and Saint Mary's Knights of Columbus Council #3212, and the Senior Centre Choir, Tillsonburg. He came to Ingersoll in 1951 and was an employee of the Ford Motor Company in Talbotville for 31 years, retiring in 1999. Dear husband and best friend of 41 years of Merna (ROVERS) VERMEEREN. Loving father and father-in-law: Janet (Anthony) DRESCHER, R.R.#1, Otterville; John (Lori) VERMEEREN, London; Jennifer (Michael) COLLINS, Straffordville; Julie FINK, Tillsonburg. Proud "Opa" of eight grandchildren: Cassandra, Danielle, Samantha; Kaitlyn, Caleb; Benjamin, Victoria, Rebecca. Dear brother and brother-in-law of: Bertha and Ben MEYERINK, Tillsonburg Hubert and Margaret VERMEEREN, Ingersoll; Luis and Peter VAN ETTEN, Holland; Corrie and Thyme BEEREPOOT, Holland; Jean and Martin VANBOEKEL, Ingersoll; Cathy and Ben WELLINK, Tillsonburg Leni VERMEEREN, Tillsonburg and the late Peter VERMEEREN (2003) Joe SCHEMBRI, Dorchester and the late Leny SCHEMBRI (1996.) Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by one brother and one sister. Visitation Sunday 2: 00 p.m. to 4: 00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Verhoeve Funeral Home, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. (842-4238). Parish prayers Sunday at 3: 00 p.m. Knights of Columbus Sunday at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass of a Christian Burial to be said on Monday, January 9, 2006 at 2: 00 p.m. at Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 51 Venison Street West, Tillsonburg by Reverend Father Dominic BORG, O.C.D. Interment to follow in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations (payable by cheque) to the Canadian Cancer Society or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

HINTON, John Edward
Passed away peacefully on November 13 in his 81st year surrounded by family. Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Marjorie HINTON and his beloved wife Barbara (ETTINGER) of 54 years, John will be lovingly remembered by his family: children Janet (David), Douglas (Carol), Marjorie (John) and Joyce (Jack), grandchildren Elizabeth, Chantal, Kathleen and John, brother Robert (Betty), nephew David and niece Jane and their families, as well as other members of his extended family. John was raised in Peterborough, Ontario and received a B.A. from the University of Toronto. For over thirty years, John worked for London Life Insurance Company, first in Toronto and then in Edmonton where he was Mortgage Manager. After his retirement he became a commercial real estate agent. John was an active member of Victoria Village United Church in Toronto. An accomplished softball pitcher in his youth, he enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams. In Edmonton he coached competitive women's softball and hockey. John approached work, family and community with respect and a sense of humour. His children and grandchildren remember his patience, kindness and generosity. John appreciated his Friendships and particularly enjoyed holidays with his brother Bob and family. He will be much missed. The family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate care received by John at Jasper Place Continuing Care Centre. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on December 9 at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Church 8810 Meadowlark Road, Edmonton, followed by a reception. The interment will follow in Ontario at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of John to a favourite charity or to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation for research related to Frontal Temporal Dementia. Departed this life on Friday, April 7, 2006, at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, at the age of 97. Maria leaves behind her son Donald and daughters, Jean and Vilma, also 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will take place at Saint_James Roman Catholic Church, 231 Morden Rd., Oakville, on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly accepted.
