Dear mother of Cathy EGAN and her companion Peter. Cherished grandmother of Lindsay and Michael. Dear sister of Fran McCASKIE and the late Anne ENGLAND, Alfe PETRAITES and Stanley (Duke) PETRAITES. Special mother to Jean and Doug, John and Gail, Don and Shelly. Special Grandma to Paul (Paula), Karen (Jeff), Krista, Stephanie, Robynn, Adam and Kayla. Special Great-Grandma to Gregory. Resting at the Newediuk Funeral Home, Kipling Chapel, 2104 Kipling Ave., Etobicoke (two blocks north of Rexdale Blvd.) from Thursday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Friday at 10: 30 a.m. Cremation to follow. After a short illness at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in his 89th year. Husband, long time companion and friend of Elsie Ruby STOREY. son of the late Sarah Jane ROBINSON, and Silas Searle SALTER. Father of Diane Sandra SALTER (the late Gillis DWYER), William Silas SALTER (David SQUIRES), Marilyn Jean SALTER, Thomas Edward Dales SALTER (the late Sheila MISECK), Beverly Anne SALTER and Kim Robinson SALTER (Joanne McQUARRIE.) Grandfather of John HEARD, Karl BARNWELL, Melinda MORBI, Gregory WEEDMAN (deceased,) Jule Kristen CAMPBELL (deceased,) Megan CAMPBELL, Owen CAMPBELL, Kirsten DIMMA, Sarah KELLY, Jason (Jessie) SALTER, Heath FREEMAN, Kara FREEMAN, Teri FREEMAN, Kathleen SALTER, Molly SALTER and Laura SALTER. Also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Brother of Elizabeth PHILBROOK and the late Jacqueline MacASKILL. Cousin of John LAWER. A veteran of World War 2 and the Korean War, Bill was a longtime resident of Richmond, Ontario. and lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Richmond Branch. Suddenly, on January 4, 2005, dearly beloved wife of Malcolm (Calum) for 53 years. Loving and devoted mother of Chris BATEMAN (Reg) of Queensville, Ontario, Kathy MacASKILL (Angus) of Carloway, Isle of Lewis, Scotland and Scott of Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Cherished Nanna of Courtney, Aynsley, Spencer and Harrison BATEMAN and Amanda and Angela MacASKILL. Predeceased by her parents George and Kennethina and her brothers Don, Iain and Peter. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her Friends and relatives in Canada, U.S.A. and Scotland for her laughter, kindheartedness and zest for life. Margaret was a member of Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire, Alice MacDonald Auxiliary at St. John and St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and the Quarter Century Club of Canadian Canners (Nabisco). McASKIN, Thomas Vincent
88, formerly of 1400 Elaine Trail, Mississauga, died on Sunday, July 17th, 2005 at the King Gardens Retirement Home. Mr. McASKIN was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Marie KELLY, his brothers Gerald and Edward, and his granddaughter, Sarah Caitlin GLASER. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn McASKIN of Oakville and Maureen GLASER and her husband Fred of Greenville, North Carolina, and his grand_son, Adam Mcaskin GLASER. Mr. McASKIN was born on September 4, 1916, in Auburn, New York. In his first year the family relocated to Prescott, Ontario, where he spent his early years. During World War 2 he served in the North Atlantic as a member of the Royal Canadian Navy. He was employed for many years as an electrician on construction projects in the Toronto metropolitan area. Following his retirement he maintained an active interest in sailing, winemaking, gardening, woodcarving and painting. He will be remembered as a hard worker, a meticulous craftsman, a devoted husband and father, a good neighbour, and a loyal friend. Friends may call at the Turner and Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga (Hwy. 10 North of Queen Elizabeth Way) on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2005, time and location to be confirmed. Interment Saint Mary's Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
