SMITH, Bernice Ellen Louise (née WINDOVER)
Peacefully at L.H.S.- New Victoria Hospital, Bernice Ellen Louise (WINDOVER) SMITH, age 86, of Petrolia on Saturday, December 17, 2005. Beloved wife of Roy G. SMITH. Dear mother of Carolyn SOPEL and Victor of Petrolia, David R. SMITH and Sharon KELLY of Bayfield, and Kathryn NYSTROM and Carl of Sault Ste. Marie. Special grandmother to 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Survived by her sister Berthena "Fienie" SMITH and her brother Charles (Sam) WINDOVER. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Ora (CHURCHILL) WINDOVER and her sister Bernadine. An avid volunteer in her community, Bernice was a founding member and volunteer with the Stroke Recovery Association, served as a Board Member of Lambton Elderly Outreach and volunteered for many years at Petrolia's Victoria Playhouse. She was an amazing resource and support for stroke victims and their spouses. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 2: 00 p.m. from Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Friends and Family will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Sarnia on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and 1 hr. prior to service time (1 to 2 p.m.) on Thursday. Peacefully, at his summer home in Aland, Finland on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at age 85. Beloved husband of Linnea. Dear father of Marita POTTER and her husband Ralph. Loving grandfather "farfar" of Lisa HORVATH and her husband Andy and Laurie NEVILLS and her husband John. "Great farfar" of Michael, Amy, Alexander, Lucas and Kaitlin. Survived by his brother Helge and his wife Wiwi of Finland and his sister Anna NYSTROM of Sweden. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Turner and Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga (Hwy. 10 north of Queen Elizabeth Way) on Saturday, July 9, 2005 at 3 p.m. with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. For those who wish, donations made to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
