Suddenly, on June 10th, 2005, Mrs. Laura AXON, of London, in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Ernest AXON (1987.) Loving mother of Bob (Keri) Woodstock, and Betty, St. Catharines. Proud grandmother of Robin (Tara), Oakville, Steven (Amanda), Switzerland, and greatgrandmother of Avery and Annabel. Dear friend of Ken ASQUITH. Much loved sister of Jack PATERSON (Florence,) the late Hazel PRICE (Al), Roy PATERSON (Orpha), Keith PATERSON (Mary), Alice LAWRENCE and Bob PATERSON (Nancy.) Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2: 00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland road North, where the funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 15th, 2005 at 11: 00 a.m., with Reverend Philip Newman officiating. Private interment of ashes at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Laura are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity or church, of your choice.

SMITH, Herbert Denis
Of Saint Thomas, on Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 80th year. Dearly loved father of Alison and her husband Phillip HARTLEY of Fort Erie and Stuart and his wife Muriel SMITH of Monkstown, North Ireland. Dear brother of Phyllis BRIDGER (Alfred) of England, David SMITH (Brenda) of England and the late Ozzie SMITH. Loved grandfather of Krista HARTLEY and partner Curtis SALTZBERRY of Fort Erie, Adrian HARTLEY of Trenton, Kimberley SMITH of England, and Michael and Becky SMITH of Monkstown, North Ireland. Dear friend of Lorraine HOLMES, Audrey WOODS, Bill JONES, Don BAILEY, Malcolm THORNTON and many others. Herb was born in Deal, Kent, England on Ferbruary 24, 1926, the son of the late Samuel and Dorothy (AXON) SMITH. He worked as a welder, millright and after retiring worked at Zehr's. Herb served in the British Royal Navy (World War 2 veteran) and was a member of the Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Elgin Regiment (Band member) and the Royal Navy Club, Deal, Kent, England. He maintained the veterans section of South Park Cemetery and received a civic award from the City of Saint Thomas for his effort. A Public memorial service will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas on Monday at 11: 00 a.m. Visitation Monday from 10: 00-11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Flowers gratefully declined, with remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association.
