Velma Alitha HANER
In loving memory of Velma Alitha HANER, September 14, 2910 - May 18, 2001.
Velma HANER, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge, Gore Bay, died at the Lodge on Friday, May 18, 2001 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Sandfield Township, daughter of the late James and Zella {HUTCHINSON/HUTCHISON} JOHNSTON. Velma had worked as a clerk at Wagg's and worked in the post office in Mindemoya. She was a faithful and committed member of the Mindemoya United Church for many years, and was very active in the church. Velma was a member of the choir for many years, where she sang alto, was treasurer of the United Church Women and the pastoral charge and a life member of the United Church Women. She had a wonderful stamp collection and enjoyed knitting.
Loving and loved mother of Harold and his wife Joan of Sault Saint Marie and Douglas and his wife Georgina of Hamilton. Proud grandmother of Kevin and Delise. Loved aunt of Elizabeth of Welland, Helen of B.C. and Robert of Welland.
Friends called the Mindemoya United Church after 7: 00 p.m. on Tuesday. The funeral service will be conducted in the Church on Wednesday, May 23, at 11: 00 a.m. with Reverend Mary Jo ECKERT Tracy officiating. Interment in Mindemoya Cemetery.

Robert Oliver RUNNALLS
In loving memory of Robert Oliver RUNNALLS, May 29, 1933-October 8, 2001.
Bob RUNNALLS, a recent resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, and formerly of Mindemoya, died at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home on Monday, October 8, 2001 at the age of 68 years. He was born in Mills Township, son of the late Nelson and Verna {BAKER} RUNNALLS. Bob was retired from farming and as caretaker of the Mindemoya Arena. He had a most interesting and varied life, and had been secretary of the Central Manitoulin Lions Club for 12 years, correspondent for the newspaper, a member of the Hospital Board, coached minor hockey, a member of the Radio Club and was active in the museum. Bob had many other interests such as genealogy, which led him to contacting relatives all over the world. He also enjoyed puzzles and games, and had a great interest in teaching kids right from wrong. Bob lived for and loved to help people and his community, such as being a caregiver for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. He will also be remembered for his favourite truck "Henry." Bob was well liked and well known, and will be greatly missed on Manitoulin.
Dearly loved brother and brother-in-law of Gerald RUNNALLS of Sudbury, Mona and Eldon LEWIS of Spring, Bay, Jim and Betty RUNNALLS of New Liskeard, Darlene and Les ORFORD of Spring Bay, Elva and Norman LLOYD of Kagawong and Morley and Cathy Runnalls of Evansville. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister-in-law Betty and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service was conducted at the Mindemoya United Church on Thursday, October 11, 2001 with Reverend Mary Jo ECKERT TRACY officiating. Interment in Mindemoya Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay.
