ENGLISH, Evelyn (formerly EAGAR, née SIMMONS)
After a courageous battle with cancer, our Mom, Evelyn ENGLISH (née SIMMONS) passed away on May 23, 2008 at Parkwood Hospital in her 82nd year. She was predeceased by her husbands Norman EAGAR (1979) and Douglas ENGLISH (1997.) She will be deeply missed by our family: daughters, sons and their spouses Barbara and Aurelien ALBERT, Dianne and Jan KIRSHIN, Colleen and John VANDERPLAS, Richard and Christine EAGAR, as well as 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Mom will be sadly missed by her dear friend Lucie BREITER. Our deepest thanks to Doctor HARLE and the Parkwood Palliative Care staff for their heartfelt care and compassion over the past weeks. Following Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family may visit at the Needham Funeral Chapel, 520 Dundas Street, London on Monday from 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will take place on Tuesday May 27, 2008 at 1: 00 p.m. Interment of ashes to take place at a later date. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Parkwood Palliative Care Unit are appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Passed away in Burlington, Ontario on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Wilson TAFTS. Loving mother of Donnie TAFTS of Lacombe, Alberta and Marilyn McDERMOTT and her husband Mark of Burlington. Dear Grandma of Christopher McDERMOTT and Meghann and Daniel EAGLE. Predeceased by her brother Edwin and survived by her brother Gordon FREY. Ruth was a graduate of the University of Toronto class of 1937 in Household Sciences and worked for many years as a registered dietitian at the Queensway General Hospital in Etobicoke. She was a longtime member of Soroptomists International and a committed community volunteer. Mom spent many happy years as an independent resident of Richview Residence in Etobicoke. Heartfelt thanks go to the excellent and amazing staff of Park Avenue Manor for their care and compassion over the last few months.

TAILOR/TAYLOR, Thelma Norene (née COOK)
Thelma passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services in Meaford at the age of 84, on Saturday May 3, 2008, after a brief illness. Born in Euphrasia Township on April 9, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harman and Clara (née HINDMAN) COOK. Thelma married Arthur Herbert TAILOR/TAYLOR on October 26, 1946. The couple enjoyed working together in the family orchards in Clarksburg for many years. Bird watching, quilting, gardening and baking apple pies were some of Thelma's many interests. Thelma will be remembered for her ever present smile and quiet manner. She was committed not only to her family but also to her church and community. She will be forever remembered as a loving mother by her daughter Bonnie and her husband Brian McCOLGAN of Meaford, son Ted TAILOR/TAYLOR and his wife Sonia of Chatham, and daughter Joyce GAUCI of Meaford. Thelma was predeceased by her beloved husband Art in February 1994 and by her daughter Linda THOMS of Craigleith in August 2004. Thelma was the cherished mother-in-law of Brenda TAILOR/TAYLOR of Clarksburg and Stewart THOMS of Craigleith. Thelma will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Taylor and Kelly; Michelle (Kevin), Michael (Anna), Meghan (Mike), Joey and Jessie; Erin (Blue); Dustin and Josh and by her great-granddaughters; Caitlin, Keira and Kendra. She was predeceased by her brother, Beverley COOK of Rocklyn, in September 2000 and is warmly remembered by her sister-in-law Eileen COOK of Owen Sound. Thelma will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Edna (late Fred) TAILOR/TAYLOR of Victoria British Columbia and formerly of Clarksburg, Edna (late Willard) JULIAN of Meaford, Elsie (late Don) WATTS of Clarksburg, and Audrey (late Howard) EAGLES, of Meaford. Her several nieces and nephews and their families will also recall their Aunt Thelma with great affection. Thelma's funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford and funeral services, officiated by Reverend Dr. Robert BUCHANAN, were conducted at Saint Paul's Presbyterian Church in Thornbury on Tuesday May 6, 2008. Son-in-law Brian McCOLGAN and son Ted TAILOR/TAYLOR offered remembrances of Thelma in tribute to her life during the service. A service of committal and interment followed at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford where Thelma was interred beside her late husband Art with pallbearers being grand_sons Kelly McCOLGAN, Michael and Joseph TAILOR/TAYLOR, Blue MELNICK, and Dustin and Josh GAUCI. May God hold you in the palm of his hand until we meet again.

Peacefully at Kelso Pines in the late afternoon sunshine of Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 with her beloved Gordon and her daughters beside her, a beautiful soul slipped silently away from us. Doris was determined to reach her 90th birthday and she did on May 19th. Dearest wife and companion of Gordon for 59 years. Beloved mother of Sandra ATKINSON (Ted), Mary Jane BUZZA (Gordon HAY), and Ruth MILLER (Mike.) Cherished Nana to grandchildren Christine KOSEMPEL (John), Heather ATKINSON, Tom JEWELL (Vicki), Lauren JEWELL, Doug MILLER, and Tiffany HAY and great-grandchildren A.J., Nathan, and Jordan KOSEMPEL, Wilton MILLER, and Marshall JEWELL. MacQUARRIE, Harry " Ivan"
Harry 'Ivan' MacQUARRIE of Etobicoke, Ontario, passed gracefully at Saint_Joseph's Health Centre, Toronto on Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Born February 14, 1929 in Cape Breton Settlement, New Brunswick, he was the youngest of the late Henry and Catherine (HANINGTON) MacQUARRIE. Ivan leaves behind his second wife, H. Rosemary MOWAT, his brothers Earle of Moncton, Ronald of Saint John and sister, Kathleen SKIDD (Ralph) of Moncton. Predeceased by his treasured wife Edith Isabel (MacRAE) MacQUARRIE, brother John and sisters Gladys MacQUARRIE, Mildred KELLY, Thelma CHRISTENSEN, Beulah CASSIDY and Eileen EAGLES. His many nieces and nephews from his and Edie's families will remember Ivan fondly; as will his extended families of Michael CULVER and Laura DURANT. Ivan spent his entire career with Canadian Oil (White Rose) that was, taken over by Shell Canada. From the 40's to the 80's he started as office clerk, then to the auditing team; oh, what memorable stories he had of those days. Next he was a sales representative, and not long after the sales manager. Some of his best times were in Halifax working on the conversion from White Rose to Shell. He ended his career as advertising manager with travels to the Orient to source products for customer loyalty programs. In retirement he joined Al Kush and Associates, working on many successful direct mail marketing projects with Eaton's and American Express. During his life, he enjoyed golfing, curling, squash, boating and his partnerships in standard bred horses. He also loved his many winters in Lauderdale-By-TheSea, Florida. One of his most difficult times was being a Juror on the Bernardo trial. Come to Ivan's last Directors' meeting at the Valhalla Inn, Etobicoke, on Friday, August 1st from 4: 00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to say goodbye. After cremation, Ivan and dog Sandy will join Edie at St. Stephen's United Church, Black River Bridge, New Brunswick on Wednesday, August 13th at noon. Peacefully, at Victoria Hospital - London Health Sciences Centre, with his much loved wife by his side, Mr. Kenneth Crawford WESTMAN was ushered into the presence of his Lord on April 25, 2008 in his 82nd year. Predeceased by his faithful, devoted wife of 44 years Audrey Jean (née HARLTON) in 1998. Dear husband of Helen (nee EAGLESON) since October 2004. Loving father of Barry and Jamie (née FISCHER) WESTMAN, Cheryl and Allan ROACH, and Colleen and Dale DAWSON. Precious grandfather to Barry Robert, Daniel and Blake WESTMAN, Elizabeth, Natalie and Meghan ROACH, and Sawyer DAWSON. Fondly remembered by step-daughter Angela BISCHOFF. Predeceased by older brother Ronald (2005); survived by younger brother Ross and wife Cathie. Also survived by sister-in-law Mabel GUENTHER- FRASER and several nieces and nephews. Ken was well known in London as a businessman/ entrepreneur and owner-operator for 41 years of Ken Westman Automotive Ltd. at three different locations on Oxford Street East. In recent years, he would be recognized by many in north London as the white-haired gentleman who played the harmonica at Loblaws when providing entertainment for the mezzanine or when collecting for the Salvation Army kettle campaign in the store's foyer. Ken took pleasure in writing frequent letters to the London Free Press Editor and was an enthusiastic member of the Northpark Senior Men's Breakfast Club. He was a loyal Detroit Tigers and Red Wings fan. Also an avid car race enthusiast, Ken attended the Indianapolis 500 thirty-seven times. Ken was often seen driving about town in his treasured 1977 yellow Cadillac. Friends and family will be received at Memorial Funeral Home 1559 Fanshawe Park Rd. E. for extended visitation on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Reverend Allan Roach of The Gathering Place and Revival Centre officiating. REID, Harvey McGregor, B.A. Sc.
Passed away quietly at home on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 a day short of his 91st birthday. Born March 19, 1917 in Ottawa, he spent most of his life in Toronto, Ottawa and Stroud, Ontario. Harvey received his education at the University of Toronto and after graduating in Electrical Engineering in 1940 he joined Ontario Hydro. He was a licensed Ham Radio operator at the time. As a Commissioned Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force he was involved with a special radar unit attached to the Royal Marines during World War 2. He continued working at Ontario Hydro after the war and then joined Motorola where he spent the rest of his career and retired to Stroud, Ontario with his wife Dorothy (predeceased). Harvey will be lovingly remembered by his family, son Doctor Lloyd REID and wife Lynda, son James REID, daughter Catherine DOTY and husband Lance, daughter Susan RICHES and husband Jeff. He cherished his grandchildren Heather PAPADOGIANIS, Ken REID, Suzanne EAGLESON, Ian DOTY, Emily DOTY, Alan RICHES and Mark RICHES and great-grandchildren Bronwyn, Elise and Katie PAPADOGIANIS, and Kassidy and Hunter EAGLESON.
