Peacefully, at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, on Monday, March 13th, 2006. Bartley Forester KAIN, of Owen Sound, in his 93rd year. Bart was the beloved husband of the late Gladys KAIN (née MAIR) (2005) for 66 years. Loving father of Peggy (Rosay) CHRETIEN, of Oshawa, Neil (Irene) KAIN and Barbara JESSOP, all of Owen Sound. Cherished grandpa of Michelle (Brian) McKNIGHT, Tim (Allison) CHRETIEN, Rick (Tanya) CHRETIEN, Rob (Michelle) CHRETIEN, Sandra (Bob) JESSOP and Harvey (Trina) JESSOP. Lovingly remembered by ten great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Clifford (Gladys) KAIN, of Wiarton. Special uncle to Laura (Jack) HILL and Gayle SADLER. Predeceased by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. A Funeral Service for Bartley KAIN will be held in the Chapel of the Brian E. Peacefully after a long illness at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga on Thursday, April 20th, 2006 in her 89th year; beloved wife of the late George William DODS (2003;) loving mother of Mary McKNIGHT and her husband George of Kamloops, British Columbia and Barbara ANDERSON and her husband Larry of Georgetown; dear grandmother of Sharla, Natalie, Sarah and Virginia; and great-grandmother of Tatiana; also sadly missed by her sisters, Flora, Betty and Honey and her brother Ronald; predeceased by her sisters Beverley, Carnita and Vivian and her brother Donald. Beloved wife of the late Leslie PEPPER (1969) and Keith THORBURN (1999.) Cherished mother of Mervyn and Joy PEPPER, Hensall, Marlene and Bill HARBURN, Winthrop and Murray and Sandra PEPPER, Brussels. Fondly remembered by her five grandchildren Chris and Patricia HARBURN, Sherry HARBURN and Cheryl WELDON, Brent and Rebecca PEPPER, Kara-Lee and Brian McNICHOL and Lesley PEPPER and friend Tom COLLINS. Passed away peacefully at her residence, the Valleyview Home, Saint Thomas on Saturday, October 7, 2006, in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late David Lloyd JONES (1992.) Dearly loved mother of Margaret TRAQUAIR of Saint Thomas, late Murray R. JONES (2004) and late Robert D.L. JONES (2005.) Mother-in-law of Roma JONES of Saint Thomas, late John TRAQUAIR (1989) and late Mary JONES (2002.) Sister of the late Winnie SMITHSON and late Bertha JOHNSTON. Also lovingly remembered by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born in Saint Thomas, December 24, 1911, the daughter of the late Frederick and Sarah (McKNIGHT) SMITHSON. Mrs. JONES was a member of Saint_John's Anglican Church, Saint Thomas and the Boethiens Group of the church. The funeral and committal service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, Saint Thomas on Wednesday at 1: 30 p.m. Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the service. Died too soon of Alzheimer's disease on May 25, 2006 in Victoria, British Columbia. Beloved wife of John MacKNIGHT of Sooke, British Columbia, and dear mother of Lisa, Joy, and Jill. Predeceased by her brother Dave PATTON. Born on July 8, 1940 in Toronto, Judy attended Lawrence Park C.I., graduated from the Physio and Occupational Therapist Program at University of Toronto in 1962, and engaged in a long and very successful career as a Physio and Occupational Therapist in Ontario and British Columbia. Creative, funny, strong, well-read, friendly, and resourceful, Judy loved jazz and sang in a trio in her high school and university days. She made beautiful pottery, grew fabulous hydrangeas, and enjoyed hiking along the Galloping Goose Trail with her dog Purdy. For enquiries soneill@gwemail.ryerson.ca

Born in Montreal, on January 2, 1938, Len died at the family home in Collingwood, Ontario surrounded by loved ones. Survived by his wife, best friend, adventurer and partner in all things Elizabeth STONE (née McKNIGHT.) He will be dearly missed by his children Andy (Fran), Janet, Rebecca (James), Laura (Harvey), Jon (Janet); his grandchildren Hilary, Connor, Jared, Will, Samantha, Patrick, Daphne, and Rachel; his sister-in-law Jeannie QUELCH, brother-in-law Stephen McKNIGHT (Fairlie,) and brother Neil STONE (Anne); and his nieces and nephews Fraser, James, Shea and Nicholas. His presence will be greatly missed by his extended family, Friends here and in Colorado and business partners. Len will be best remembered for his love of family, Friends and skiing. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 5th at Saint Paul's Presbyterian Church, Bruce St, Thornbury. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. at the church. SMITH, Bruce Arnold
After a richly blest and fully rounded life, Bruce sailed beyond the horizon on the 26th of December, 2006 at the Hamilton General Hospital in his 88th year after a brief battle with cancer. Beloved husband of the late Beth, and the loving and highly respected father of Kim, Cam, Kirk and Ann Elise whose accomplishments made him immensely proud. Devoted father-in-law of Marilyn, Cathy and Carrie. Dearly loved Grandpa of Laura, Jerrod Bruce, Scott, Erica and Bryan. Special uncle of Susan McKNIGHT and Doctor Michael Bruce BLAKLEY. Dearest companion and partner of Betty BARNES. Predeceased by his parents Lucetta (Merriam) and Frank, and his sisters Elsie, Eva and Alma. Bruce attended Sault Collegiate Institute and was its representative at the Coronation of King George the Sixth. He was a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto (Victoria College) (Class of '41) and of the Ontario College of Education where he was Class President. In the Second World War, he served with Second Division Signals throughout the European campaign including Verrieres Ridge with the South Saskatchewan Regiment. He took great pride from the fact that his 35 men won no less than 12 decorations for valour and dedication. Bruce had a long career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as an announcer and radio host. For 23 years his morning show 'Toast and Jamboree' was a staple in thousands of household s on both sides of the border. For many years he was president of Humber Highland Curling Club and of the Toronto Marine Historical Society. He was the first Honorary Mayor of Black Creek Pioneer Village and served on the Metro Conservation Foundation. He received the Queens Confederation Medal, the North York Civic Award and the Ontario Volunteer Award. Bruce was a member of the Probus Club of Burlington, Branch 60 of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Signals Officers Club, and Monday Men's at Wellington Square United Church. Cremation has taken place.
