VESCIO, Anthony
Passed away peacefully at Villa Colombo, on January 27, 2006 at the age of 97 years. Beloved brother to the late Francesco VESCIO, Nicolina ROBERTO, and Angelina ROCCO. He will be greatly missed by many nephews and nieces. Friends and relatives will be received at the Bernardo Funeral Homes Ltd., 2960 Dufferin St. (two streets south of Lawrence Ave.), on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 4-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Charles Borromeo Church (811 Lawrence Avenue West), on Monday, January 30, 2006 at 9: 30 a.m. Entombment to follow in Prospect Cemetery. (St. Clair Ave. W., east of Caledonia). Donations to the Giant Steps Foundation would be appreciate by family.

NIVIN, Mary Jean Garland
Peacefully, on Saturday, February 11, 2006 in Huntsville, Ontario, in her 90th year. Born in Toronto on October 26, 1916. Beloved wife of the late Fielden Cruso (Bunny) NIVIN who predeceased her in 1994. Loving mother of Honor Garland NIVIN and Cynthia Cruso NIVIN (Gavan BYRNE.) Dear sister of Dr. George D. GARLAND of Huntsville. Predeceased by her sister Betty, and brother Gerald N. GARLAND. Dearest " Nana" to Tanja Anne DJURDJEVIC (Moscow) and Emily Sarah VESS (Cincinatti.) Fondly remembered by her niece Dr. Mary Garland KRUYS (Rob) and her nephews Nicholas GARLAND and G. David GARLAND (Kathleen.) Jean was a graduate of Havergal College, a camper at Glen Bernard Camp in Sundridge, Ontario, a life member of the Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto, and served in the Red Cross Transport Corps. in Toronto during World War 2. A family service was held in Huntsville on Wed. February 15, 2006. Internment to follow at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Cobourg, Ontario. The family wishes to thank the staff at Muskoka Landing for their care during this past year. Special thanks are sent to her private caregivers in Huntsville, Maggie WEST and Ruth BRENNER, for their dedication and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's memory to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, 100 Frank Miller Drive, Unit 4, Huntsville, Ontario, P1H 1H7.

Loving mother of Thomas and his wife Linda of R.R.#5 Flesherton and Shirley and her husband Tom BROWN of Petrolia. Cherished grandmother of Thomas and Sarah REBURN and David and Jason BROWN. Sister of Margaret PAYLOR. Predeceased by her brothers James and John VESSIE. Friends may call at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Life for Georgina will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. Interment at Elmwood United Church Cemetery. At Chateau Gardens on April 16th, 2006, Mrs. Ida Amelia (Nan) HIGGS (née SHEWAN) of London in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Mr. George Wilfred HIGGS. Loving mother of Brian HIGGS (Sheila) and Marilyn VESSIE (John) Dear grandmother of Tammy, Michael, Jason and Jennifer. Great-grandmother of Riley and Jesse. She is survived by her sisters Agnes POUNDS and Margaret SHEWAN. Predeceased by her brothers William, Lloyd, Jack, Boyd, Arnold, and Brock. Visitation in the Needham Funeral Chapel (520 Dundas Street, London) on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday April 19th, 2006 at 10: 00 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Loving brother of James Hall COLSON (Lucille WORKMAN,) the late Margaret Alice COLSON and the late Joan Lynden NEILD (Dudley.) Loving uncle of James Delano-Osborne COLSON (Barbara Ann KREUGER), Peoria, Illinois; De Ann COLSON- HADDOCK (Thomas), Toronto; Lynden Dorothy (née NEILD) BOHLEN, Brazil; Susan Margaret (née NEILD) ROGERS (Peter), Whitby. Great uncle of David James Delano COLSON, Shawna Elizabeth COLSON, Michael Thomas HADDOCK, Christopher James HADDOCK, Sabrina BOHLEN, Nicola ROGERS and Lisa ROGERS. Oz will be missed, especially, by his cousin Edward "Ted" Douglas GOODERHAM, his wife Judy and their children, Cynthia "Cindy," Anne ROSS (Bernie), Rebecca "Becky", Anne ROINILA (Leo), John Edward GOODERHAM (Margaret) and Becky's children, Phillip and Nadine VESSIO. He will also be missed by his many skating pupils/families, colleagues and Friends. A private funeral service will be held with interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. SLOAN, James Thomas " Jim"
Of Blenheim passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Born in Chatham 85 years ago, son of the late George S. SLOAN and Annie VESTER. Jim was a retired policeman and later worked as a shipping clerk at Southwestern Regional Centre. His wife Jacqueline predeceased in 1990. Dear father of Ann Marie SLOAN of Blenheim and Richard and his wife Annette SLOAN of Crystal Lake, Illinois. Cherished grandfather of Tracy, Blake, Jeff, Karla, Frank, and great-grand_son Reid. Jim was the last surviving member of his family of ten brothers and sisters. Resting at the J.L. Ford Funeral Home in Bleheim for visitation on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11: 00 a.m. with Reverend Bruce COOK of Blenheim United Church officiating. The members of the Order of the Eastern Star will hold a memorial service at 3: 30 p.m. Monday afternoon. A Masonic Memorial service will be held on Monday evening at 8: 00 p.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials to the Arthritis and Cancer Societies would be appreciated.

Peacefully at home on May 9, 2006, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of the late Vera Liliane (2000) and loving father of George Jr., Marylene and Ann. Loving father-in-law of Doug. Loving grandfather of Mckenzie and Harrison. An extraordinary father and husband who left his native Hungary after the war for adventure to Paris where he met his future wife, Liliane. Came to Canada in 1951 to begin a new life in starting a family and producing chemicals for the fire fighting industry. He will be sadly missed by all. Friends will be received at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Avenue East, Agincourt (east of Kennedy Road) on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 432 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto (west of Bayview Avenue) on Friday at 10: 00 a.m. Interment Pine Hills Cemetery.
