Suddenly, at his residence in Toronto, on Tuesday, January 18th, 2005 at the age of 85. Beloved partner of Margaret EDLER. Fedor will be fondly remembered by his extended family Karl, Rose (Ted), Rolf (Marion) and younger generation Kristin, Paul, Jordon, Lynley and Joanna. Fedor will be sadly missed by family and Friends in both Germany and Canada. His wonderfully entertaining stories as life as a Sea Captain sailing the globe kept many listeners enthralled, as did his extensive knowledge of history and its peoples. He was born in Stratford, son of the late Frederick DAVIS and the former Elizabeth BURROWS and has been a lifelong resident of Stratford. George was a former employee of the Ministry of Transportation and Communication retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. James Anglican Church and Tecumseh Masonic Lodge #144 Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons. Dear brother of Betty and Marion DAVIS of Stratford and Pat DAVIS of London. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Virginia DAVIS of London, his nephew John DAVIS (Valerie,) North Bay, niece Sarah DAVIS (Kirk) and their son John-Paul of Hanoi, Vietnam, niece Rebecca KUSSNER (Bryan) and their children Hannah and Jacob of London. Musician and teacher born on June 2, 1921, in Turtleford, Saskatchewan.
Always fascinated by music, he took piano lessons at the age of 5 and contemplated a career in music. After service in the Second World War, he enrolled at the University of Toronto, where he graduated with a bachelor of music degree in 1949. He also studied at the Toronto Conservatory of Music, later known as the Royal Conservatory of Music, and abroad. In 1952, he was hired by the Music Teachers' College in London, Ontario, and became principal when the college affiliated with the University of Western Ontario in 1960. In 1968, he became the first dean of the faculty of music at the university.
