Brant County (1852-)
- split into the single-tier 'county' of Brant and the city of Brantford

Bruce County (1867-)
- The history of the County of Bruce and of the minor municipalities therein, province of Ontario
Carleton County (1800-)
- became the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton, now the City of Ottawa, a single-tier municipality

Dufferin County (1881-)
Dundas County (1792-1850)- merged with Stormont (1792-1850) and Glengarry (1792-1850) Counties to form Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry United Counties
Durham County (1792-1974) portions merged with Ontario County to form Durham Regional
Elgin County (1851-)
- was part of Middlesex County from 1837 to 1851. Prior to that, Elgin was part of the London District. In 1851 legislation was passed to separate Middlesex and Elgin Counties.

Essex County (1792-)
- Essex and Kent County Transcripts
- Frontenac County (1792-)
- was abolished and replaced with the Frontenac Management Unit. Informally, the area is still known as Frontenac County, even though it isn't officially one.
Grey County (1852-)
- Ontario GenWeb Grey County
Haldimand County (1800-1974; 2001--)
- was merged into the Regional Municipality of Haldimand-Norfolk for many years, but this was divided again with some minor adjustments to the old lines in 2001; it is now a single-tier municipality, not an official county

- became Halton Regional Municipality

- merged with Welland County to form Niagara Regional Municipality

Middlesex County
- In 1851 legislation was passed to separate Middlesex and Elgin Counties.

Norfolk County (1792-1974)
- was merged into the Regional Municipality of Haldimand-Norfolk for many years, but this was divided again with some minor adjustments to the old lines in 2001; it is now a single-tier municipality, not an official county
Northumberland County (1772-)
Ontario County
- originally existed from 1792 to 1800, and was split with the eastern portion joining Frontenac County and the western portion joining Addington County. The second existed from 1852 to 1974, and merged with portions of Durham County to form Durham Regional Municipality. A small portion became part of Simcoe County.

Renfrew County (1851-)
Simcoe County (1843-)
Suffolk County (1792-1800)
- formed in 1792 with Ontario County, in 1800 it was split into the Counties of Kent and Middlesex. During its short existence it was made up of Delaware Township, Westminster Township, most of North Dorchester Township and the rest Indian land.
Victoria County (1821-2001)
- became the City of Kawartha Lakes, a single-tier municipality
Waterloo County (1853-1973)
- became Waterloo Regional Municipality in 1973
Welland County (1851-1970)
- merged with Lincoln County to form Niagara Regional Municipality
