For a One Day Symposium on
Scottish Genealogical Research

Plan to attend a one day symposium on Scottish Genealogy Research at the Spring Hill Suites by Marriott in Vaughan, Ontario. Confirmed speakers include James Thomson, Linda Reid, Ruth Blair, and Christine Woodcock. Each will speak on a different aspect of Scottish Genealogy Research, details can be found below. A marketplace featuring a variety of vendors who specialize in Genealogy, Scottish Clans, and Scotland will be located on site.

A block of rooms has been booked at the Marriott for those wishing to stay the night before, or the night of the Symposium. A group rate of $130 includes a double room and breakfast. The hotel has a pool, and is in close proximity to both the Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre (with Bass Pro Shops) and Wonderland so families may wish to travel together for the weekend.

The One World, One Family Conference will be held in Brampton the following day if you want to take in a full weekend of genealogy learning.

Tracking Our Scots Emigrant Ancestors

James Thomson will lead this talk on Basic Scottish Research. He will discuss records available to help get started researching your Scottish Ancestors.

Linda Reid will discuss her research using DNA to further her knowledge of her ancestry. She will discuss how using Autosomal DNA testing assisted her to confirm ancestral relationships.
Many Scots have Irish connections. Ruth Blair will help to understand how to research the Scots-Irish connection that many of us have and to make this part of our research less intimidating.
Christine Woodcock will discuss the various records available to help track our Ancestors as they migrated from their homeland to Canada or the US.
