QUERIES:
These queries are repeated here from the original postings in our current quarterly newsletter, Perth County Profiles, which is mailed to members. In it are articles on Perth County families or locations, and on research in general. There are notices about upcoming Branch meetings and our new publications. Queries are now a "FREE" service provided by the faithful volunteers of the Perth County Branch and it is our intention to accumulate them on these pages for about one full year.
Queries may be sent to our Newsletter editor,

BAKER
HAWKE
Thomas Baker m. 13 April 1880 Martha Hawke d/o Charles Hawk &
Ann Callaway in Listowel. The marriage register shows that Thomas
was 25 years old, born in England (where?), a bachelor,
s/o Thomas John and Mary Ann Baker, and his religion was
Episcopalian. Thomas & Martha had 6 children; Mabel, Thomas Henry
(Harry), Walter (my father), Alice, Albert (Bert), and Jennie.
On each child’s birth record Thomas’ occupation is listed as a
painter but what kind? In both the Listowel Banner and Listowel
Standard newspapers of 1890 mention is made of deaths from LaGrippe.
Mention is made that Thomas Baker, 39, died on January 23rd in the
east part of Listowel leaving a wife and 6 children, the youngest
only eleven days old. The Stratford paper in their Man on the Street
column talked about more LaGrippe illness and that today they buried
Thomas Baker. But where was he buried? Thanks for any help
