My Enumeration Travels Extended from lot No 6 on the East Side of Younge Street to the Town Line of Markham Including the first and second Concessions of the Township of York, In which there is one Primitive Methodist Church built of brick and would accomadate about four hundred people. There is one English Church Built of Brick that will accomadate about five hundred people. There is one Episcopal Methodist Church Built of Brick that will accomadate about Eight hundred people, beside two schoolhouses in which the Wesleyan Methodist hold religeous worship on every Saboth. there are three flour mills capable of grinding a large amount of grain there are five sawmills all worked by watter power with the exception of one which is worked by steam and watter as the case may require.
there are two stores, and three taverns, the land is generally good and the people in most cases are engaged in agricultural persuits.
the land in general is heavy clay and mostly good for wheat but owing to the midge for the last few years the wheat crop has in many cases been a failure.
the spring crops last summer was much ingured by a severe hailstorm literally threshing the oats before they were reaped.
District Number two Ward No 2 is bounded on the west by Younge street running from Lake Ontario to lake Simcoe bounded on the North by the Township of Markham, on the East by the township of Scarborough and the south by the southern part of the Township of York
