McGEACHY,
Audrey
Yvonne
(DENYES)
Passed away on May 2, 2008 in her 92nd year at Rayoak Place.
Beloved wife of 63 years of Thomas who passed away in November,
2001. The McGeachys resided in the Agincourt area from 1952 to
2000 and were active members of St. Timothy's Anglican Church.
Audrey was proud to say she was born in Toronto's Women's College
Hospital. There, in later years, her three daughters, Heather
(RICHARDS of Vancouver,) Holly
(LIPSETT of Toronto) and Dawn
(of Toronto) and grandchildren, Todd and Bart
LIPSETT were born.
As a young high school graduate in the mid 1930's, when there
was limited employment, Audrey was entrepreneurial, applying
her love of and skill with dance to establish the Audrey Yvonne
School of the Dance. In those tight economic times, she travelled
by bus weekly to Guelph and Peterborough to conduct classes there,
as well as three days a week in Toronto. Marriage to her Tom
in 1938 brought an end to that professional career, but the love
of dance never left her and staff at The Leaside and Rayoak Place
were cajoled into knowing the five ballet positions which were
deftly demostrated even though Audrey would announce, 'I don't
do a pas de chat anymore.' More than anything, in her final years,
Audrey yearned to be 'back with Dad'. The family is joyful that
the wish has now been granted. She will be missed by her daughters
sons-in-law, Je In
LEE and Robert
LIPSETT; grand_sons and great-granddaughter,
Taylor LIPSETT.
Appreciation to the relatives and Friends who
recognized the debilitating social effects of dementia that Audrey
suffered from for many years, and stayed the course of contact
and Friendship. Family and Friends will be received at the Sherrin
Funeral Home, 873 Kingston Road (west of Victoria Park) Toronto,
416 698-2861, on Monday, May 5, 2008 from 10-11 a.m. Funeral
service to follow in the chapel at 11 a.m. Interment at Prospect
Cemetery. Donations to Alzheimer's Society or the Ontario Cancer
Society will be appreciated. Family and Friends are invited to
sign Audrey's book of condolences at www.sherrinfuneral.ca
