Of London, passed away on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 at the London
Health Sciences Centre (Victoria Campus), in her 66th year. Beloved
wife of Robert
McATEER and dearly loved mother of Kelly of British
Columbia, Ryan of Windsor and Regan of London. Loved grandmother
of Cedar and Skylar. Dear sister of John

of Saint Thomas. Irene was born in Rochford, Essex, England on
January 20, 1943, the daughter of the late Robert James and Emily
(LANGE)
DEER.
She came to Canada in 1947 and worked for Northern
Telecom. Shirley was a member of Trinity Anglican Church. A private
family service will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin
Street, Saint Thomas. No public visitation. Interment to follow in
Saint Thomas Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Saint_Joseph's
Health Care Foundation and the Parkwood Hospital Physical Maintenance
Program.

Public General Campus on Wednesday April 9, 2008. He was born

Visitors will be received at the Thomas L. DeBurger
Funeral Home, 620 Cross Street, Dresden on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of the
funeral home on Saturday April 12, 2008 at 1: 30 p.m. with Mr. Don
MUIR officiating. Interment in Dresden Cemetery. Memorial contributions
may be made by cheque to Wallaceburg Congregation of Jehovah's

BROWN (Niagara-on-the-Lake) and all their
families. Graduate of North Toronto Collegiate Institute and
University College, University of Toronto in Honours English,
recipient of the Governor General's Gold Medal in 1935. She completed
an M.A. in 1976 and M.Ed. in 1985. Betty, a gifted teacher, writer
and poet, taught English at North Toronto Collegiate Institute
from 1941 to 1972, serving 16 years as head of the English Dept.
She inspired thousands of students to a greater appreciation
of English literature. In 1992, she received the Confederation
of Canada Medal for her excellent contributions to Education.
The Bealey Laureateship for English is awarded annually to a
graduating student of North Toronto Collegiate Institute. She
edited and published textbooks of Shakespeare's Hamlet and Macbeth,
for use in Ontario Schools, and coauthored 'Style and Structure'
a textbook of English grammar and composition. Her collection
of poetry, 'A Life Story, A Love Story' was published in 1995
for her many Friends, colleagues and family. Dedicated supporter
of the Royal Ontario Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto
Symphony Orchestra and the North Toronto Collegiate Institute
Foundation, a volunteer for the University of Toronto bookshop
and the Toronto General Hospital Auxiliary, and a faithful member
of Saint Margaret's Anglican Church, North Toronto. She will be
greatly missed by her family and Friends and the academic community
that meant so much to her. A Funeral Service will be held on
Saturday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at the Trull Funeral Home 'North
Toronto Chapel', 2704 Yonge Street, Toronto (416-488-1101). Interment
of ashes and reception to follow. Visitation from one hour prior
to the service. If desired, donations in memory of Betty may
be made to Saint Margaret's Anglican Church, North Toronto, The
North Toronto Collegiate Institute Foundation or to the charity
