Heinz Maxzimallian
ROSENFELDT went to be with the Lord on Tuesday,
May 21, 2008 at Shelburne Residence, Shelburne, Ontario in his
87th year. He was born October 27, 1921 in a refugee camp in
his native Prussia. His parents were Johann and Augusta
ROSENFELDT.
When he was six weeks old his parents were given the choice of
going to Poland or Germany. They chose Germany. His growing up
in Germany was full of family, faith, school and sports. He became
an avid outdoorsman and camper, which he maintained throughout
his lifetime.
After graduating from school he worked for the Deutsche Bank
for 26 years prior to he and his wife Wilma immigrating to Canada
in 1964. In Canada he worked as a butcher, then a welder at the
Collingwood shipyards before going to Toronto where he continued
to work as a welder, ultimately on stainless steel hospital equipment.
Following the unexpected death of his wife in 1969, he returned
to Dundalk in 1970 where he soon became employed at the Dundalk
Co-op in the hardware store, eventually becoming the Co-op manager,
a position he held until he retired in 1986. In 1997 he was diagnosed
with cancer and courageously battled it until his death. He continued
to live in Dundalk until being hospitalized prior to going to
Shelburne Residence just before his death.
Heinz credits his mother with teaching him the Bible and a personal
relationship with his Lord. He stated she knew her Bible from
cover to cover and practiced it.
He was actively involved in numerous organizations. He was a
member of Erskine Presbyterian Church, Dundalk; Dundalk Masonic
Lodge; Manito Shrine Club, Collingwood and Dundalk Canadian Legion,
of which he was the treasurer from 1972 until 1987.
He is survived by two daughters, Christel (Rainer)
WIGGERS and
Marlies ROSENFELDT and two grand_sons, Jan (Birgit)
WIGGERS and
Kians WIGGERS, all of Oldenburg, Germany. He was predecensed
by his parents Johann and Augusta, a sister, two brothers and
both his wives, Marga and Wilma.
His daughter, Christel
WIGGERS and her husband Rainer attended
her father's funeral from Oldenburg, Germany.
A funeral service was conducted on June 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. at
the McMillan and Jack Funeral Home in Dundalk, by the Rev. Mark
DAVIDSON, minister of Erskine Church. A biographical outline
of Heinz's life was given by Delbert
FOWLER.
Visitation was held
on June 2, 2008 at which time a Masonic service was also conducted.
Pallbearers were Eric
BRYANT, Delbert
FOWLER, Heinz
JAKOBS, Bob
SCOTT,
Victor
SCOTT, and Don
VANALSTINE. Floral arrangements
were from: family and Friends. A time of fellowship was held
at Erskine Church following the interment in Maple Grove Cemetery,
Dundalk.
Heinz's approach to when his life on earth would end was that
"The best is yet to come"! For Heinz, "The best has now come"!
