Passed away at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Saturday, December 29th, 2007. The former Rachel McQUEEN in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Gordon WHALEN. Loving mother of Bob (Bonnie) of Meaford. Sadly missed by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by niece Marian DOYLE. Predeceased by one daughter Cathy WILSON, two brothers Bill and Archie, and one sister Lillian. Resting at the Gardiner-Wilson Funeral Home, Meaford, where a funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 2nd at 2: 00 p.m. Visiting Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 12-2 p.m. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32 will hold a memorial service Tuesday evening at 6: 45. Pat or "Gene" as many in his family knew him, passed away with loved ones by his side at his home in Goderich, Ontario. Born in Tweed, Ontario, Pat later moved to Belleville and then Windsor finally settling in Goderich in 1969. Last surviving son of Patrick and Gertrude (McGRATH) WHALEN, he is survived by his sisters Rose BARBER and Marie KASHIAN, daughter: Heather LYONS and spouse Wayne of Goderich, Kevin WHALEN of London, and Chris WHALEN of London, Shawn WHALEN of Goderich and grand-children: Haley, Spencer, Donnny, David, Jared, Cassandra, Brittany, Lauren, Lindsay, Liam, Ryan, Alison, Victoria, Ian, Kimberly, Shon, Kerri, Michael and many great-grand-children. He is a veteran of World War 2 serving with the Canadian 3rd Division, Highland Light Infantry. He helped to liberate France, Belgium and Holland participating in the battles of Falaise Gap, Boulogne and the Scheldt Estuary. He believed in peace and never forgot those who lost their lives in war. The fellowship he enjoyed through his community service will continue to be shared by his extended family. He firmly believed in the Higher Power as his guide. Pat had a career in life insurance from the 1950's until 1993 when he "retired" at the age of 76. At that time he was serving hundreds of clients primarily for North American Life Assurance which later merged with Manulife Financial. He was ever thankful to serve his clients, many of whom he regarded as Friends. Predeceased by his wife Alyce (Tykyna RUDYCHUK) WHALEN and grand_son Conor WHALEN; and siblings James, Stella, Loretta, Cecelia, Clarence, Frank, Hester, Rita, Regis, Gerald and Lorna. There will be a visitation in Goderich at McCallum and Palla Funeral Home, Cambria Rd. at East Street, Goderich on Saturday July 12th between 2 and 5 p.m. Funeral Mass and Burial will be from Saint Cathagh's Roman Catholic Church in Tweed, Ontario on Monday July 14th at 11 a.m. with Visitation at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital of Goderich Connecticut Scanner Campaign.

Peacefully at Garden Court Nursing Home surrounded by family in her 82nd year. Born in Fredericton, she lived her life in London, England, and Ottawa before moving to Toronto to be with her family in 1996. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Brunswick, as well as a degree of Library Science from the University of Toronto. She worked many years for the Express newspaper in London, England. She is survived by her sister Margaret "Peggy" CLELAND of Ottawa, daughter Anne VAUGHAN, and sons Sean and Daniel as well as grand_sons Stuart and Malcolm VAUGHAN. A Memorial visitation to be held at Lynett Funeral Home, 3299 Dundas St. West (one block east of Runnymede Rd.) on Saturday, March 1, 2008 from 12: 00 to 1:00. Loved mother of Jo and her husband Tony LAGUNA of Coral Springs, Florida; and John HUTHART and his partner Ann WILDMAN of Caledon. Sadly missed grandmother and great-grandmother of Juan LAGUNA (Shawn) of Redlands, California; Alex (Darlene) LAGUNA and their children A.J., Jake and Max of Orlando, Florida and Sue LAGUNA- WHANG (Jimmy) and their children Julian and Alexandria of Charlotte, North Carolina. Kathleen passed away peacefully in Vancouver after a long and happy life, on February 25, 2008. Widow of Henry Hatton CRERAR daughter of William Willmar BURK/BURKE and Sarah Jane HUNTER, Kathleen is remembered and loved by her family: sons Bill (husband of the late Susan) of Toronto, and Tony (Maureen) of Vancouver and her seven grandchildren (and twelve great-grandchildren): Kathryn and James KIRKLAND (Ben and Megan), Lauren and Mark LINTON (Samantha and Alexandra,) Steven and Lynne CRERAR (Harrison, Alexander, and Caelan,) and Andrew CRERAR; David and Julia CRERAR (Harry and Kathleen PHILIPPA,) Suzanne and Dean WOLF (Julian, Layla, and Kirby,) and Carolyn and Sean WHARTON. Kathleen will also be dearly remembered by her Burke, Bennett, McRae, Hardisty and Bailey nieces and nephews, and her many Friends. Kathleen was born in Vancouver on May 4, 1908. She grew up in Burnaby near the now-named Burke Street. She was a primary school teacher, receiving her training at the Vancouver Normal School. Kathleen taught in Burnaby and Vancouver before her marriage to Hat on New Year's Day 1936. Later, she taught kindergarten at Athlone School in Kerrisdale for many years before retiring to Beach Grove, Tsawwassen. She played golf and bridge into her nineties, maintained her own home until her mid-nineties, and kept her wit and humour to the end. In her final years she resided at Crofton Manor in Kerrisdale. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Crofton Manor for their care and attention. At her request, no service will be held.

Died peacefully in her 95th year on March 20th, 2008 at the Toronto East General Hospital following a short illness which she bore with her customary humour and remarkable strength. Predeceased by her beloved husband Frank, of 53 years, Garnet was the cherished mother and dear friend of Marilyn (Nic HARVEY) of Victoria, British Columbia, John (Beverley) of Toronto, Jim (Ginny) of French River, Frances STEVENSON (John,) of Barrie, and Carol THOMAS (Stephen,) of Aurora. Garnet was the proud and greatly loved grandmother of Heather ANDREW (Will,) and Ian MacTAVISH, Katie, Matthew and Jennifer ROOK, Jeff (Sally) and Sam ROOK, Andrew, Amy and Erin THOMAS, and great-grandmother of Megan and Emily ROOK and Liam ANDREW. Garnet is also lovingly remembered by her sister Eleanor BIRK.
