Peacefully at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on Saturday, March 29, 2008 Margaret Lela (McNALL) SWAN of Goderich, in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Harry SWAN (2001.) Loving mother of Dianne (John) WAIN of Auburn, Wayne (Melanie) SWAN of Goderich, Nancy (Tom) WILLIS of R.R.#2 Goderich, George (Ellen) SWAN of Huntsville, Ray (Sheri) SWAN of R.R.#6 Goderich. Dear grandmother of Tracy and John WAIN and Matthew and Payton SWAN. Missed by three great-grandchildren Patti, Kaz and Ali. Sister of Roberta WADEL. Peacefully surrounded by her family at University Hospital, London on Tuesday, March 11, 2008. Pat (Patricia Ann) (GOSNELL) SMITH of Dutton in her 61st year. Lovingly remembered by her husband Butch (Leroy), and her children, Randy and Terry, Leigh, Peggy and Jim LEMAY, grand_son Chuck and step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pat was the oldest daughter of Agnes and the late Walt GOSNELL. Sister of Linda and Jim BRUCE, John and Marilyn, Tom and Glenda, Bill and Paula, Tony and Michelle, Bob and Mary, George and Mary Jane. Sister-in-law of Mabel and Brian WAINMAN. Also missed by her aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and special Friends Marg and Jim. Predeceased by her brother Michael. WAINRIGHT, Aline Gregory (née MacGREGOR)
Aline left us peacefully on April 9, 2008 at Hospice Niagara after a lengthy struggle with cancer.
Well remembered for her dedicated work as an active feminist, she was a co-founder of the National Action Committee and the Status of Women in Canada. She was a member of Women for Political Action and in the 1972 federal election was a candidate in Rosedale Riding in Toronto. In 1975 she played a prominent role in organizing the first World's International Women's Year Conference held in Mexico City, and in 1977 was awarded the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal.
Born in Toronto in 1930. Aline is predeceased by parents Alexander and Catherine MacGREGOR, by sister Catherine (Kitty) MANN, and by brothers John and Howard MacGREGOR. She is survived by husband John WAINWRIGHT, by brother Robert (Bob) MacGREGOR, by daughters Catherin (Cody) GREGORY of Victoria, British Columbia and Deanne (Dedee) GREGORY, Burnaby, British Columbia, by step-children John WAINWRIGHT of Edmonton, Deborah JARVIS of Grimsby and Jane WAINWRIGHT of Grimsby, and by grand_son Garnet CLARE of Whistler, British Columbia. She will be deeply missed by family and Friends.
There will be an open house to celebrate Aline's life on Saturday, April 26, 2008, from 1: 30-3:30 p.m. with a commemoration at 2:00 p.m. The celebration will be held at the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club, 70 Westchester Ave., St. Catharines, Ontario.

Thomas John BATCHELOR, in his 88th year. Predeceased in 1997 by his beloved wife Mary Lou (SHIPLEY.) Adored father of Patrick, Brooke (Richard GRAHAM,) Anthony (Mary WAINWRIGHT) and Amanda (Etan VLESSING.) Loving Grandfather of Georgia, Charlotte and Chloe GRAHAM and Elizabeth, Duncan and Catharine BATCHELOR. He is survived by his sister Patricia SHAND and nephews James and John SHAND. Faithful master to Winnifred, Helen, Irene, Muriel, Amy, George, Henry, Louis and Freedom. John was born in Charleswood, Manitoba on July 22nd, 1920 to William and Gertrude BATCHELOR. He served during World War 2 with the Royal Canadian Air Force 413 Squadron in Ceylon. Upon discharge in 1945, he attended the University of Manitoba and was admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba in 1951. John was Secretary-Treasurer of King Paving and Materials and Controller of The Flintkote Company of Canada, joining its Board of Directors in 1964. He was an executive of Genstar Corporation in London, United Kingdom and retired as Managing Director, Genstar Financial Overseas in 1984. He then served as Chief Financial Officer of Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. John was a past Treasurer of Saint_Jude's Anglican Church and served on the Boards of Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and The Oakville Club. John was happiest when his family was at his side; one of his dogs was at his feet, with a good book in one hand and a martini in the other. He had a quiet presence and a dry wit. He loved the garden and nature in all its forms. John was a gentleman to all and a figure of stability, kindness and love to his family. John's family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Ian Anderson House for their wonderful care and compassion. At his request a private family internment will be held. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Friday, June 27th at 5: 00 p.m. at The Oakville Club, 56 Water Street, Oakville, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lillian H. Benson, cherished mother of David (Susan) of London, Bruce (Donna) of Hamilton, and grandchildren, Lauren (Jim,) Anne and Alexandra GOODBRAND, great-grandmother of Benson and Megan WAITE as well as nieces Shelley, Jane and nephew Bart BROWN and their children. Dorothy's musical gifts brought joy to many lives both in Windsor and Hamilton. The highlight of her musical career was her performance for seniors at age 95 years in the Roy Thompson Hall, Toronto, which brought down the house. Visitation will be held at the Walter D.
