LESCHAK, Stanley C. " Stan"
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Sunnyside Nursing Home on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the age of 84. Loving husband of Frances (née VOREL) for 61 years. Beloved father of Denise (Daniel and Jasper) and Michelle (BOCKMASTER.) He was a much loved hero to his grand_sons Andrew (Jennie), Shaun (Alexandra) and Adrian. Brother of Norman (Barbara). Predeceased by his parents Andrew and Annie. Stan's family moved to Toronto from their native Czechoslovakia while he was an infant in 1924. He was a veteran of World War 2, serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force in active service on the European front as a Wireless Air Gunner. Stan flew with the French 88 Squadron and the Dutch 320 Squadron in the 2nd Tactical Air Group. Stan was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 530. He will be remembered by his many Friends at the K-W Wing 404 Royal Canadian Air Force where he was a dedicated member for 43 years. Cremation has taken place. Many thanks to all the supportive and the caring staff (Angels) at Sunnyside Nursing Home. Memorial service will be held at K-W Wing 404 Royal Canadian Air Force. (510 Dutton Drive, Waterloo) on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. McKENZIE, Brunhilde (née BRAUN)
Of Wiarton passed away peacefully with her husband by her side at University Hospital in London on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in her 67th year. Cherished wife and best friend of Robert 'Bob' McKENZIE. Dear sister of Erich (Geraldine) BRAUN of Markham, Michael (Heather) BRAUN of Scarborough and Irene (Oleg) VORONIN of Amherst, New York and sister-in-law of Alistair (Sheila) McKENZIE of Aberdeen, Scotland. Brunhilde was predeceased by her parents Luise (MAUS) and Erich BRAUN. Family and Friends are invited to share their memories at a Memorial Service to celebrate Brunhilde's life at the George Funeral Home, Wiarton on Friday, March 14th, 2008 at 2: 00 p.m. Reception to follow. CRAVEN, Marion (née FLOOK)
Of Fairfield Park Nursing Home, Wallaceburg and formerly of R.R.#1 Chatham for over 70 years passed away peacefully Thursday, July 24, 2008 in her 92nd year. She was born in Raleigh Twp. daughter of the late Percy and Maunice (RUSSELL) FLOOK. Marion was a member of French's United Church, life member of the U.C.W., Sunday School Teacher, Hi C Leader, Explorer Leader and 4-H Homemaking Club Leader for 23 years. She loved quilting and making bears. Beloved wife of the late Fergus CRAVEN; loving mother of Floyd and Kae CRAVEN of Spencerville, Jerry and Marjorie CRAVEN of R.R.#2 Chatham, Carol and Jack REID of Chesley, Shirley and Bill CULLY of Scarborough and Jan CRAVEN of Chatham; special grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Mark CRAVEN (Nancy,) Cheryl LAWTON (Mike,) Karen CRAVEN (Paul Calhoun), Jarrod CRAVEN, Heather FAIR (Grant), Melanie DENNIE (Alex), Deanna LANCASTER (Derek), Jennifer HOLT (Jason,) Matthew CULLY, Chad VOROS, Tara VOROS and Cody VOROS 11 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Dear sister-in-law of Marie CRAVEN. Predeceased by sister Erenstine and David RADDER and brother-in-law Harold CRAVEN. The CRAVEN family will receive family and Friends at the Badder Funeral Home and Reception Centre 679 North Street, Dresden on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 1: 30 p.m. with Rev. Ross WILLIAMS officiating. Interment in Dresden Cemetery. Donations may be made at the funeral home by cheque to Saint Paul's United Church or charity of your choice. VORSTER, Nels (1918-2008)
Born in Den Haag, The Netherlands on October 6, 1918, Nels passed away at Saint Michael's Hospital in Toronto on February 11, 2008.
Raised in Belgium, France and the Netherlands (Bilthoven), she married Gerke (Gerry) VORSTER in 1939 bearing two children during the occupation of 1940-45. The family emigrated to Canada in 1951 and settled in Toronto. Gerry died in 1977 and Nels spent the next 30 years in active widowhood, living in her own apartment until she entered hospital a few weeks before her death. She focussed on her family, sons Hans (Bardi NORMAN) and Menno (Julie GRGAR) and her grand_sons Quinn (Monika DUKSZTA) and Michael. They, and her Friends, shall miss her greatly.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 20 at 4 p.m. in the chapel at Toronto Necropolis, 200 Winchester Street.
