Passed away peacefully on April 9, 2008, at the age of 83. Widow of Tamás LÉGRÁDY, dear wife of Oscar WERFHORST. Mourned by her sons, George (fiancée Olivia HARRIS), Miklos and Tom (Sarah WAKELY) her sisters Maya A. HETHERINGTON, Erzsébet ROCHLITZ (Tibor,) their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and Ilona M. HUSZÁR (Nándor,) their children and grandchildren; her sister-in-law Brigitta GRIFFITHS (Bert,) their children and grandchildren her husband Oscar, his children and grandchildren. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on April 18th at 11 a.m. at Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 432 Sheppard Ave. East, Toronto. Interment will be at the family crypt in Visegrad, Hungary.

At Meadow Park Nursing Home on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, Constantinos (Gus) VARDAS of London and formerly of Nemea KORINTHIAS in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Sophia (LITSIOS) VARDAS. Dear father of George and his wife Angela VARDAS of Edmonton, Alberta, Niki and her husband Spiros VILOS and Theodore and his wife Vivi VARDAS all of London. Loved by 6 grandchildren Koula, Lefteris, Sophie and her husband Chris NEIL, Gus, Sophia and Mary and one great-grand_son Nicholas. Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St. (between Waterloo and Colborne St.) on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service from Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Road W. on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 10 a.m. with Father Elias DROSSOS officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Prayers will be held in the chapel Friday evening at 8 p.m. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Irene, predeceased by her loving husband Douglas and loving mother of Bryan and his wife Dianne, and Darlene LUNNEY and her husband Doug BENSON. Dear Grandma of Allyson COUSINEAU, Melissa and her husband Andrew VARDON, Gillian COUSINEAU and Erin LUNNEY. Best big sister of Kay (Ron HARRIGAN,) Thelma (late Ray TWINNEY), Carol (Roy GREEN) and Marlene (Robin TEELING). Predeceased by her brothers Norman, John and Robert ANDRU and by her sister Lorraine. Sadly missed by sisters-in-law Hazel COUSINEAU, Lil ARMSTRONG and Sharon ANDRU. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. South, Newmarket on Tuesday, March 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service on Wednesday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Church, 461 Park Ave., Newmarket. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Toronto General Hospital on Friday, February 22, 2008 at age 80 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Deborah POWELL- WELLS. Predeceased by his first wife Mary Louise. Loving father of Antoinette WELLS, Melinda WELLS- DEROCHER and her husband Larry, Catherine McCANSE and her husband Kenny, Kevin WELLS and his wife Julia SCOTT- WELLS, and Joel WELLS. Dear grandfather of Montana and Spencer McCANSE, Kyle and Grayson WELLS, and Mary-Beth DEROCHER. Dear brother of Doreen WELLS and the late Patricia WELLS. He will be sadly missed and remembered by his brother-in-law Philip POWELL and his wife Ruth and their children Gregory, Amanda and Katelyn, sister-in-law Cynthia VARDY and her husband Tom and their children William and Eric. Doug leaves many Friends and will always be remembered by all who knew him. He had a long and distinguished career that allowed him to touch many lives. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Toronto General, Princess Margaret and Saint Michael's Hospitals for the exceptional care and support. Friends may call at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street, W at Windermere, east of the Jane subway, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the chapel on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 1 p.m. It was Doug's wish that donations be made to the Salvation Army.

Passed away on July 19th, 2008, at Saint_Joseph's Health Centre in Guelph, Ontario. Husband of 45 years to Diane (née FRATTINI) and loving father of Sandra BARNES (Craig,) Susan HILDEBRANT (Sylvain MAILHOT) and Catherine VARGA (Anthony.) Devoted grandpa to Genevieve and Chloe. Special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Allan and Lillian (née WUORI,) and brother Kenneth. Harvey was a well respected Mechanical Engineer and mentor, and was recognized for his active leadership in community work. He will be greatly missed by his many Friends and family. A private celebration of Harvey's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 24th, 2008 at Saint_Joseph's Health Centre, 100 Westmount Road, Guelph N1H 5H8. VARGA, Nelson Alexander, P.Eng.
Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Canadian Navy Anglers Association Passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the McCall Centre, Etobicoke. Nelson was in his 81st year. Beloved husband of 56 years to the late Letitia Jean (née VALLANCE) VARGA. son of the late Nelson Alexander and Beatrice (née CAMPBELL) of Windsor. Loving father of his only child, Susan LETITIA and her husband Kypros Stylianou PISSAS of Mississauga. Brother to June, Jo-anne and the late Velma, and Beverley. As a Professional Electrical Engineer, Nelson was passionate about his work. He received a B.Sc. (Elect) degree from RNTC (U.K.) in 1950, and received a diploma in advanced mathematics from Cambridge Institute of Science and Technology (Toronto) in 1974. Dad was afforded the opportunity to work extensively throughout Canada and the United States - including Chrysler Corporation (1951-56); Giffels and Vallet (1956-60); Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (1960-64) Smith, Hinchman and Gryils (1964-71); Pearson International Airport (1971-79); York University (1979-91) and after retirement, Gosse and Gilewicz Engineering Inc. (1992-2007). Throughout his early career, Nelson was hired as a Consultant on many interesting projects - including the Apollo Moonshot program (NASA). Proud member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and the Naval Veterans Association. Hobbies included reading (mostly engineering journals!) and biomedical technical research. This resulted in two invention disclosures (Commissioner of Patents, Washington, D.C.). In his later years, Nelson put 'technical pencil to graph paper' to write poetry. His sister June and daughter Susan were the recipients of weekly prose over the last two years of Nelson's life. Nelson's family will receive family and close Friends at the Turner and Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga (Hwy. 10, North of Queen Elizabeth Way) from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2008. Passed away peacefully at Norview Lodge, Simcoe on March 15, 2008 in her 89th year. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her niece Beth ELLIS of Port Ryerse, her great nieces Cassandra VARRICCHIO and Danielle ECCLES (Ryan,) her great-great-nephews and niece Anthony VARRICCHIO, Devon ECCLES and Payge BURK/BURKE, all of London, Ontario. Predeceased by her sister Betty (1984) and brother-in-law Vic ELLIS (1986,) and her brother Hugh FERGUSON. The family would like to thank Norview Lodge staff in Chestnut Hill who cared for Anne with the utmost care, compassion and dignity. Fergie's Funeral Service took place on Monday, March 17th, 2008 at the Murphy Funeral Home, Delhi (519) 582-1290. Interment followed in the family plot at Delhi Cemetery. The family requests, as expression of sympathy, donations to your local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or to the Simcoe and District Humane Society.
