In Markdale on Friday January 11, 2008. Mannie HEWGILL, formerly of Clarksburg, son of the late Victor and Ella née LOUGHEED) HEWGILL, at the age 94. Brother of Elwood (Cora) HEWGILL of British Columbia. Predeceased by sisters Mary (late Bill) BOWINS of Meaford and Kathleen (late Percy) JARVIS of Vancouver, British Columbia. Fondly remembered as a dear uncle by Doctor Denton HEWGILL of Victoria. British Columbia, Vivian KAPUSTA of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Ralph HEWGILL of Edmonton, Alberta, and Wayne HEWGILL of Vancouver, British Columbia; Lynn (Brian) VAIL of Meaford; and Debbie HUNGEL of North Vancouver, British Columbia and remembered also by their families. Predeceased by a nephew Elwood BOWINS. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Dr. Brian GOODINGS, will be conducted at Grace United Church in Thornbury, on Wednesday January 16 at 10 a.m. with a family service of committal and interment to follow at Thornbury-Clarksburg Union Cemetery. Family will receive Friends in the fellowship hall of the church following those services. Of Smiths Falls and formerly of Saint Thomas, passed away on Saturday, June 28th, 2008, at the Broadview Nursing Home, Smiths Falls, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late John "Harry" CAVES and loved mother of the late Joanne (Wilbur) CAVES. She was the last of her family. Predeceased by 2 brothers Robert and Fred SHEPHERD and six sisters Pearl McDONALD, Mabel HEBEBRAND, Hazel McLEOD, Edna DUNLOP, Evelyn MILLS and Erie RACE. Loved grandmother of Stephen MATTHEWS, Danny MATTHEWS (Pearl), David MATTHEWS (Debbie), Brenda McARTHUR (late William.) Sadly missed by 8 great-grandchildren and 8 great, great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Jean was born in Saint Thomas on March 1st, 1917, the daughter of the late Robert and Eva (VAIL) SHEPHERD. She lived in Saint Thomas most of her life. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1: 00 p.m. Interment to follow in Union Cemetery. COX, Kathryn A. Behan (1947-2008)
'Candy' to her many Friends and business associates, lost her 20 year battle with cancer and passed away in the Palliative unit of Bridgepoint Health Centre on April 9th, 2008 in her 61st year.
A graduate of York University, the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and the Education Ministry's Business Supervisory Officers program, she worked for the Boards of Education for the City of Toronto, the City of York and the Toronto District School Board for a year following the amalgamation of the Metro Toronto School Boards. Specializing in the field of Communications and school board Administration, she held senior positions with both the York Board of Education and the Toronto District School Board. A pioneer in many innovative methods of keeping the community at large informed on school board activities, including for 15 years, during her time with the York Board, producing, directing and hosting a weekly half hour program on cable television centered on happenings throughout the York Board of Education. In 1985, she founded and was the founding President of a national organization catering to the interests of Communications Administrators in the education field.
In her retirement, as Vice President of C/W and Associates, she served as a volunteer Director of the Macaulay Child Development Centers, as a publications consultant to the Ontario Public School Boards Association, as editor of her condominium's newsletter and as an active member of the executive of the York Board of Education Employees' Alumni Association.
Candy will be sorely missed by Bob WEINERT, her husband and partner for the last 24 years; her brother Patrick BEHAN and his wife Anne; nephews David BEHAN, Jason VAIL and his wife Rita and their children Mason, Allesandra and Lilah of St. Catherine's; Matt VAIL and his wife Victoria of Victoria British Columbia; and her step-daughter, Margaret Ann LEES of Richmond Hill, Ontario
Friends may pay their respects from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 13th, 2008 at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street at Goulding, south of Steeles Ave.)
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 14th, at 1.00 p.m. in the Chapel, to be followed by cremation and a private committal,

Peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Peter D. Cark Centre, Mrs. Irene C. McLAUGHLIN of Ottawa in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Mr. Glenn McLAUGHLIN. Cherished mother of the late John Barry (Bud) McLAUGHLIN. She will be sadly missed by her daughter-in-law Beryl McLAUGHLIN. Loving grandmother of Neil, Sherry (Denis VAILLANCOURT,) Rhonda (Dexter DRAPER) and the late Glenn. Loving great-grandmother of Brandon and Kaitlyn, Noelle and Michael, and Jennifer. Irene was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved to Wiarton, Ontario with her family in 1950. She was an accomplished violinist. Irene was the first Lady Mayor of Wiarton. She will be remembered by those whose lives she touched by the meaningful poetry she wrote during her long and accomplished life. Special grandfather of Justin, Tamsyn, Ashlynn, Geoff and twins Mathew and Kailey. Also survived by step-sons Maurice SAINT_GERMAIN (wife Natalie) Justin and Eric of Sudbury, Daniel SAINT_GERMAIN (wife Jenefer,) Ashley and Kitiara of Calgary and Steve SAINT_GERMAIN of Ottawa. Sadly missed by his brother Ross (wife Alma) and his sister Helen (husband Eric KINTS) all of Exeter. son of the late A. Roy and Beatrice M. (KNIGHT) BALLANTYNE. Gerry was born and raised in Exeter, Ontario. He worked for many years as a funeral director at the Lougheed/Jackson and Barnard Funeral Homes, retiring in 2005 due to his failing health. A skilled embalmer, Gerry was dedicated to the funeral profession. He was a loving husband, a proud father and grandfather. Gerry will always be remembered as a quiet and thoughtful man whose dry sense of humour was appreciated by all. Just shy of her 94th birthday, after a brief illness on January 3rd, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Sadly missed by her six children and their spouses: Margot and David KITCHEN, Bryce and Marie-France (LIMOGES) TAILOR/TAYLOR, Anne and Robert TAILOR/TAYLOR- VAISEY, Tom and Emily (WATSON) TAILOR/TAYLOR, Heather and Richard RADEMACHER, Sue TAILOR/TAYLOR and Richard EDDY. Also greatly mourned by her 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who fondly remember her on the Mississauga River, and her exceptional talent at baking blueberry pies and shortbread, after a wonderful pot roast dinner. Marian trained in nursing at Wellesley and then started her family with her now predeceased husband, Bernard Cullon TAILOR/TAYLOR. Letitia Jane MILLER and Walter BRYCE who emanated from Keene and Otonabee Township bore five children of whom Marian was the youngest. She was pre-deceased by her siblings; Margaret MacDougall MANN, Archibald, George and Leila BARR. Exceptional thanks go to the Staff and Friends at the Court at Brooklin where Marian spent her last 4 years and to her special friend Mary Holmes; also to the wonderful and caring staff on 8M at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Arrangements entrusted to W.C. Town Funeral Chapel (110 Dundas Street East, Whitby, 905-668-3410). At Marian's request, a private service is to take place. ALLEN, Mabel Adele (formerly VAISEY)
Passed away peacefully June 18, 2008 in Waterloo, Ontario, at age 88 after several months of failing health. Survived by her beloved husband C.R.E. (Bob) ALLEN, daughter Robin VAISEY of Bancroft, Ontario, son Douglas VAISEY of Toronto, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren all in the Bancroft area. Widowed in her thirties on the death of her first husband, Stuart VAISEY, with two teenage children, she went to work for the then fledgling Toronto office of Manpower Temporary Services, retiring as vice-president. One of her proudest achievements was development of a "Brush-up Course" for office workers who had been out of the work force for some years. Over 4000 people graduated from this course. She was active in many personnel related organizations. Cremation has taken place to be followed by a private family celebration of her life. Arrangements in the care of Graham A. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sari VAISLER (née GASCO) on Monday, February 18, 2008 in her 88th year. Sari passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and loved ones, after a brief illness. She is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Sydney, and by her sister, Florence RUBIN. Loving mother to Barry and Wendi, Elissa and Irving, Shelley and Kenny. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Shannon, Kelly, Sean, Ryan, Bram and Rachel, Eric and Adam, as well as her brother Sydney GASCO. Sari was foremost, a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was so proud of her family, as we were of her. She was a pillar of strength to us all, until the end. Our family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Harle and the Palliative Care team, who helped us care for Sari at home, which was her wish. Our heartfelt thanks to Mary WELLMAN, Hermelinda LOPEZ and Yolanda MORENO, who have been our angels, and Sari's loving companions. Words cannot express our gratitude. Peacefully, at her home in London, Ontario on June 19th, 2008, Dora (Dolly) VAISLER (née HENDELMAN) passed away in her 90th year. Loving wife of the late Harold VAISLER (1999.) Mother of Peter and his wife Sheila VAISLER and Susan VAISLER and her husband Steven AZMIER. Proud grandmother of Sarah, Trevor and Casey. Sister of Meyer HENDELMAN and his wife Barbara. Sister-in-law of June and Daisy HENDELMAN. Aunt of Barry VAISLER, Alissa POSLINS, Shelley ROCHWERG and Paul KASH. Predeceased by her brothers Saul and Jack HENDELMAN and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Syd and Sari VAISLER and Ethel and Hy KASH. For many years, Dolly was extremely involved with the London community. She served for several years as President of Haddassah and was active in Sisterhood. Special thanks to her caregivers Michelle, Traci, Lisa, Pat and Kellie who provided exemplary care for many years.
