Suddenly in Florida, on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, while on vacation, John David McCART of Glencoe in his 90th year. Predeceased by his wife Jeanne McCART (2005) and his son Jack (2001.) Dear father of Mary Lou McMILLAN, Jim McCART, Mike McCART, Peter McCART (Vicki), Maggie UNDERHILL, Dorothy SMITH, Paul McCART and Larry McCART. Loved by his grandchildren, Joseph and Michelle McMILLAN, Kevin, Greg, Derek and Richard McCART, Niki and Jessy UNDERHILL, Peter, Johnathan, Matthew SMITH and great-grandchildren, Kailey, Ashley, Cheyenne, Larissa, Anthony and Morghan. "Gone to be with his Lord and Saviour". At Valleyview Home, Saint Thomas, on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, in his 71st year. He was born June 26, 1937. Loved husband of Beverley BESWICK (FLEWELLING.) son of the late Jack and Eva BESWICK of Huntsville. Dear father of Sylvia (Todd) of Westbank, British Columbia, Doug (Jodi) of Ilderton, Susan (Mike) of Aylmer, Brian (Kim) of Ingersoll, and their mother Betty. Grandfather of Abigail, Adam, Colin, Ryan, Sara, Jake, Shelby, Rachel, Clark and Lindsay. Survived by his brother Shawn and his mother Mary. Also survived by his aunt and several cousins. Jim was born and raised in Huntsville. He was a graduate of Central Baptist Seminary, Toronto and U.W.O. Althouse College. He retired in 2002 from the Thames Valley District School Board. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in London. Jim had a lifelong love of music and sang praises to the Lord as long as he was able. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and woodworking prior to his surgery in 2004. After a brief illness, Jelle SCHAT, born 1932, passed from this earthly life into the safe refuge of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. Devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and dear friend to many. Survived by his wife Hilda (VANDERMEER) and children Shirley and Bert KNOOP of Goderich, Joel and Marina SCHAT of Mount Elgin, Clarissa and Gary UNGER of Mission, British Columbia Derek and Nancy SCHAT of Essex. Grandfather of Nick, Chris, Jessica, Sara, Rachel, Ryan, Joshua, Janine and great-grandchildren Mylee, Kolby and Jayden. Predeceased by his brother Dirk and sister Clary. Dear sister of Leo Paul CARDINAL, Henriette FAY (husband Leo,) Aime CARDINAL, Liliane HEIKKILA (husband Appo), Gerard CARDINAL (wife Rachelle ROY/ ROI), Georges CARDINAL (wife Rachelle LARCHE,) the late Gisele TACKABERRY (husband Bill,) the late Normand CARDINAL (twin brother of Armand) and Armand CARDINAL (wife Louise NAULT.) Daughter-in-law of Jean Lang PICK (99 years) and the late Prince Arthur PICK, sister-in-law of Allan PICK (wife Mary), Ken PICK (wife Kathleen - deceased,) Brian PICK (wife Bridie,) Tom PICK (wife Diane,) Ben PICK (wife Barbara) all of England. Mother of Paul SERRE (wife Sylvie ROY/ ROI, grandchildren Jacques and Jacqueline.) Anne JEFFREY (grandchildren Rocky and Tanya, great grandchild Emmitt.) Rose will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Rose was the life long friend of Claudette LABRANCHE (deceased) of Sudbury. Dear friend of Monique SERRE, Cambridge Ontario, Joyce SIMISTER, London Ontario, Joyce SPRACK, Manitowaning, Laura RIGOULOT- BREDIN, Manitowaning, Lucille DESROCHERS, Copper Cliff, J. P. MILLER (deceased) of Sudbury, Queen Margaret JACKSON, Rosemary WAKEGIJIG, and all the sisters of the Red Sky Women of Manitoulin also known as the Red Hats. Rose was also a member of
the Manitowaning Friendship Club, Knox United Church Women and Southeast Manitoulin Veterans Group and an Associate of the War Pensioners of Canada. Funeral Service was held at 1: 00 pm Friday, January 4, 2008. Knox United Church, Manitowaning with Reverend Mary Jo TRACY officiating. Donations to Knox Church, local cancer charities, or Heart and Stroke would be appreciated.

WITHERS, Eileen Anne (née TRAYNOR)
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Eileen WITHERS, after a short and courageous battle with lung cancer. On Friday, June 13th, she died peacefully with her husband and two children by her side in hospital in Halifax, age 61. A woman whose journey through life blended several families in many locations, including homes in Scotland, England, Gatineau in Quebec, Ottawa, Halifax, Toronto and finally retirement in Windsor, Nova Scotia. Daughter of proud parents Harry TRAYNOR and Katherine (née GILL) of Halifax. Beloved wife and best friend of Thomas (Ted) WITHERS. Cherished mother of Sarah (Keith BENNETT, Toronto) and Adam MAHONEY (Kendra HURSHMAN, Windsor.) Dear stepmother of Rob MAHONEY (Tracey SLITER, Ottawa), Paul WITHERS (Judy MYRDEN, Halifax) and Carolyn (Andy HEARD, Salt Spring Island, British Columbia). Precious sister of Ian (Ottawa) and Gordon (Halifax), she was predeceased by her sister Christine (Bryan UNSWORTH, York). Eileen will be sadly missed by her extended family and Friends in the United Kingdom, the U.S. and throughout Canada. Born in Greenock, Scotland, her family moved to England before she started school. An avid sportswoman and student, tennis and grass-hockey were balanced by studying mathematics and chemistry, eventually completing an honours degree in Economics at the University of London. In 1968, shortly after arriving in Canada, she realized that her French skills, learned in England, were not sufficient so she enrolled in a French ski school. That way, she could learn to ski and speak French at the same time. Her strong work ethic and commitment to efficiency helped propel her into senior policy roles in several federal government departments, and trade negotiator for International Trade Commission. Eileen was truly a remarkable and multifaceted woman whose interests included her pets, wine making and antiques. Always fond of puzzles and games, the complexity of duplicate bridge enchanted her. She was a Life Master, certified as both a director and teacher. She also judged competitive debating teams. A collector by nature she attended estate auctions most weekends. Travel often centred around a theme, first bridge tournaments, then 'collecting' state capital domes in the United States, and finally, viewing paintings by Vermeer in museums around the world. Her love of art was shared with Ted. In recent years, her generosity led her to volunteer with seniors at the Windsor Elms, especially in the Palliative Care Unit. An active member of her church, she was a Eucharistic Minister. Funeral mass and celebration of life were held in Windsor, Nova Scotia In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or your local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Animal Shelter. Passed away at Riverside Glen Long Term Care in Guelph, Ontario, on Monday, February 18, 2008 at the age of 95. She was born of Irish immigrants from Northern Ireland in Edmonton, Alberta, July 19, 1912, where she attended school winning many awards for excellence in History and English. She was a proud long time resident of Edmonton, and lived also in Ottawa and Victoria. Throughout her life she continued her interest in world travel, history, and politics. She thrived on interesting conversation about current affairs and books. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband, Newton (1981), her youngest child, Pamela (1948), her grand_son, David STELTER (1987,) and her sister, Maureen UNWIN (1998.) She is survived by her children, Glen SHORTLIFFE (Sylvie LAUZON) in Ottawa, and Sally STELTER (Gilbert) in Guelph, her grandchildren Scott SHORTLIFFE (Ottawa), Newton (Sharon) SHORTLIFFE (Winnipeg), Gordon STELTER (Guelph) and Jamie (Janet) STELTER, and her two great-granddaughters, Emma and Grace STELTER in Guelph. At her request there will be a private remembrance at a later date. UNWIN, Donna Alberta (formerly KAYES, née NICHOLSON)
Of Toronto, Montreal, Halifax and Simcoe, Ontario peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre on March 2, 2008. Beloved mother of Tim (Anne) and Donna (Paul PENDRITH) and Grandma to John KIDD (Melanie), Stephanie (James THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON) and Michael UNWIN, sister of Isabel MILLER (John,) daughter of the late Chester and Amy NICHOLSON of Fergus, Ontario. Donna was predeceased by her husbands Harry Arnold KAYES in 1953 and George UNWIN in 1982. Donna was born in 1915 in Puslinch, Ontario. She graduated from Toronto Western Hospital School of Nursing in 1937. Throughout her 93 years Donna had a passion for music and was an accomplished pianist. Her great love of the outdoors and knowledge of birds and flowers were the envy of her Friends and family. She was a proud Canadian and always fully committed to the service of the communities in which she lived. She was of unfailing good spirit and humour. Donna developed a passion for art late in life and became a prize winning artist in her 80s. Her full and many faceted life has been an inspiration to everyone who knew her and to the communities she served. A private family remembrance is planned. The family will always be grateful to Doctor Mary Beth BOURNE and to the wonderful staffs at Park Place Manor and the new palliative care unit at the Southlake hospital for their care and compassion, particularly in recent months.
