Peacefully with his family by his side at L.H.S.C. University Hospital, Thomas Crosby SMITH, of Sarnia on Sunday, March 23, 2008 in his 76th year. son of the late C.W. John and Harriett (JEWELL.) Loving husband of 55 years to Phyllis (WOODWARD.) Devoted father of John (Brenda,) Mary-Anne (Steve TOWER,) Richard (Robin,) Carolyn (Brent ARMSTRONG) and Catharine (Steve ROSE.) Cherished grandfather of Christine, Justin, Jennifer, Tara, Aaron, David, Colleen, Danielle, Scott, Paul, Sarah, Jordan, Adam, Deirdre and Gillian. Dear brother of Griffeth, Pauline (BELL) and the late Campbell. Tom was born on August 19, 1932 in Chatham, Ontario. Tom provided 45 years service with Canadian National Railways, 12 years as District Chairman and General Secretary Treasurer the Order of Railroad Telegraphers/ Transportation Communications Employees Union/ Brotherhood of Railway Airline Clerks. Tom was also a member of and past distinguished President of the Optimist Club Sarnia Inc. and Lt. Governor Zone 6 Southwestern Ontario Optimist 1998/1999. A memorial service will be held at Laurel Lea St. Matthew's Presbyterian Church, 837 Exmouth Street, Sarnia at 1: 30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26th, 2008. Predeceased by husbands Bill IRVING of Toronto in 1964 and John 'Jack' TOWERS, also of Toronto, in 1991. Much loved mother of Bruce IRVING and his wife Kate SEABROOK- IRVING of Walter's Falls and Linda IRVING of Mississauga. Predeceased by a son Douglas IRVING in 1968. Grandmother of Natasha IRVING of Meaford and great-grandmother of Keira IRVING. Also predeceased by a brother Gordon CASTORF and his wife Mary of Toronto and a sister Frances CASTORF of Philadelphia. "Bus" WILLIAMS (1983.) Dearly loved mother of Nancy LOGIE (Brian) of London, Janice WILLIAMS- ALLAN (Wayne) of Strathroy, and Larry WILLIAMS (Gina) of Hanover. Cherished grandmother of Laura ALLAN (Shah YAZDANIAN,) Shawn WILLIAMS and Kent WILLIAMS. Dear sister of Reta McCRACKEN of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Betty BANCROFT (Ronald) of Saint Thomas, and the late Edith "Toots" WEARE (1971.) Also fondly remembered by in-laws, Barbara and Ray NEWSON of Saint Thomas, and several nieces and nephews. Born in Saint Thomas, May 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Edith (HARRIS) TOWERS. Lillian will be remembered for her love of family and flowers. Age 96, of Toronto, passed away peacefully at Toronto East General Hospital on Tuesday, March 11, 2008. Born June 17, 1911 in Toronto, Ontario to the late Robert G. LIND and Marion LIND. She served with the Red Cross during World War 2. A retired medical secretary and homemaker, and a devoted member of Timothy Eaton Memorial Church. A strong Christian, she served several charities over the years. Jean was a loving and supportive wife to the late John Gray DEFRIES, mother of Robert Lind DEFRIES and David Gray DEFRIES - his wife Rosalyn and daughter Lauren Dawn DEFRIES. Following in death her sister Aleda TOWERS and brother Robert Burns LIND. Survived by nephews R. Jeffrey LIND, Ian LIND and niece Marion LEWIS. Family will arrange a funeral/memorial service for the summer of 2008. This gathering will be announce The Star and The Globe.

FLANNIGAN, James " Jim" Robert
We are sorry to announce that Jim passed away at Scarborough Hospital March 26, 2008 at the age of 73 after a courageous fight with cancer. He will be fondly remembered by so many Friends and family, including daughters, Patricia TOWNSEND (Darin) and Kara FLANNIGAN (Herb THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, Jr.,) brother Brian FLANNIGAN (Cass), many nieces and nephews, and grandchildren, Claeyr and Gryffin. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Elizabeth FLANNIGAN, and brother William. An avid skydiver, pilot, hangglider, scubadiver, sailor, and hockey player, Jim lived life at its fullest and wore many hats. He was a proud member of the King Hiram Lodge, and Canadian Owners and Pilots Association. At Jim's request, there will be no visitation or service. Jim always said, "I'd rather be flying!"

Dorothy WRIGHT, (née COLLARD) died peacefully at the Toronto Grace Hospital with her daughter Nancy at her side. She was the loving wife of the late Sydney Henry Arthur WRIGHT (Royal Canadian Air Force 1942). Dorothy will be missed by her children, Bruce (Daisy OLIVER) and Nancy (Frank PURVIS) and by her grandchildren David PURVIS and Nicole PURVIS (Cameron NIXON,) Arielle and Corinne WRIGHT and by her great-granddaughter Laurel Anne NIXON. Dorothy was the dear sister of Fred COLLARD and the late Isabel TOWNSEND, Norman COLLARD, Winnifred GILSON and Charles COLLARD. The family would like to thank staff and Friends at the Meighen Retirement Residence for their kindness over the past two years and the caring nurses and doctors at the Palliative Care unit of The Toronto Grace Hospital. If desired, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to The Salvation Army. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held in the spring.
