Originally from Nijmegen, Holland she was a Phys Ed. teacher, a flight attendant, craftsmaker, storekeeper, homemaker, and for the last 25 years a medical secretary. Married for 53 years to Ron, Lidy did everything with style and flair. She was vibrant, beautiful, energetic, caring, creative, stubborn, strong, loyal, funny, fun-loving and loving, very proud of her Dutch heritage and equally proud to call herself Canadian. She was a long time breast cancer survivor who supported the Canadian Cancer Society. She was a volunteer with the Arthritis Society, for many years with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, was a staunch supporter of Doctor Henry Morgentaler, and a proud member of the Red Hat Society. She loved the arts, Tafelmusik, and together with her 'theatre girls' she supported for many years Soulpepper, Canadian Stage, and especially the Shaw Festival. In lieu of flowers any donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. A celebration of Lidy's life will take place this summer. Funeral arrangements with The Simple Alternative.
