KRANTZ,
Aleyda (née

ZELDAM)
Born April 24, 1927, died May 25, 2008. Lidy, as she was known
to all of her Friends, left us peacefully after suffering a tragic
accident and then battling leukemia for the last few months.
Wife of Ronald
KRANTZ (2005,) mother to Michael (1993,) Peter
(Shelley HUSON,)
Gregory
(Susan
HOWARD.) Oma to Aleyna, Nicola,
Lily, Daniel and Augustus. Sister to Paula (1964)
OTTO,
Mieke
and Mello in Holland, and Mien and Henk in the U.S., as well
as many nieces and nephews in both countries. Lidy was truly
a remarkable woman. Originally from Nijmegen, Holland she was
a Phys Ed. teacher, a flight attendant, craftsmaker, storekeeper,
homemaker, and for the last 25 years a medical secretary. Married
for 53 years to Ron, Lidy did everything with style and flair.
She was vibrant, beautiful, energetic, caring, creative, stubborn,
strong, loyal, funny, fun-loving and loving, very proud of her
Dutch heritage and equally proud to call herself Canadian. She
was a long time breast cancer survivor who supported the Canadian
Cancer Society. She was a volunteer with the Arthritis Society,
for many years with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind,
was a staunch supporter of Doctor Henry Morgentaler, and a proud
member of the Red Hat Society. She loved the arts, Tafelmusik,
and together with her 'theatre girls' she supported for many
years Soulpepper, Canadian Stage, and especially the Shaw Festival.
In lieu of flowers any donation to the Canadian Cancer Society
would be appreciated. A celebration of Lidy's life will take
place this summer. Funeral arrangements with The Simple Alternative.
