A gifted, passionate teacher of both French and English as a
second language, he also served at the Ontario Ministry of Education
from 1964 to 1989.
He was a good friend to many, delighting them with his sense
of humour and encyclopedic knowledge.
Noël was a devotee of Sai Baba and had visited him several time
in India.
A Celebration of his life will take place at the York Chapel
and Reception Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto 416-221-3404
on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place
in the chapel from 10 a.m. until service time.

Passed away peacefully at Kelso Pines Retirement Lodge, Owen
Sound on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the age of ninety-seven.
She was born near Hafford, Saskatchewan and married Steve
SMUTYLO
in 1936. Mary is survived by her two sons, Allen and Terry and
his wife Ann, her brother John (Anne) in Saskatoon, her sister
Doris in Toronto, her loving grandchildren Koby (Michelle), Daniel
(Anna), Paul, Tania (Sean) and Casey and her great-grandchildren
Audrey, Adrienne and Isaac. Mary was a loving mother, mother-in-law
and Baba and was greatly admired by all for her skills in cooking
(especially her dill pickles and lemon meringue pie), sewing
and gardening. She was and early peace advocate with the “Voice
of Women” and her advice on herbal remedies, nutrition and organic
gardening was constantly sought by family, Friends and neighbours.
She cherished her grandchildren for whom she prepared many especially
healthy dishes and drinks. All who knew her will miss her dearly.
The funeral service for Mary
