Died peacefully in her 95th year on March 20th, 2008 at the Toronto East General Hospital following a short illness which she bore with her customary humour and remarkable strength. Predeceased by her beloved husband Frank, of 53 years, Garnet was the cherished mother and dear friend of Marilyn (Nic HARVEY) of Victoria, British Columbia, John (Beverley) of Toronto, Jim (Ginny) of French River, Frances STEVENSON (John,) of Barrie, and Carol THOMAS (Stephen,) of Aurora. Garnet was the proud and greatly loved grandmother of Heather ANDREW (Will,) and Ian MacTAVISH, Katie, Matthew and Jennifer ROOK, Jeff (Sally) and Sam ROOK, Andrew, Amy and Erin THOMAS, and great-grandmother of Megan and Emily ROOK and Liam ANDREW. Predeceased by her loving husband Lawrence (1982), her son Glen and an infant son. Isabelle will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Gene ROOKE of Dereham Centre, Joan McQUIGGIN and her husband Robert of Springford. Born in London, Ontario daughter of the late Allen Charles and Ethel Charity PETTIT) WHITE/WHYTE. Beloved wife of the late Alva ROOKS (1971) and Arthur STADDON (1991.) Step-mother of Jeanne WASHELESKI, Shelby Township, Michigan. Step-Grandmother of Mark, Scott and Kurt WASHELESKI. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William at the National Veteran's Home, Toronto on January 29th, 2008 at the age of 88. Bill was predeceased by his wife Wynnifred Margaret Lenore (ROONEY) 1994; sister Muriel THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON; and parents Sheldon and Ida May (LAIDLAW.) He leaves behind daughters Heather M. ARNOLD and her children Christian, Devon and Stewart WALSH; Lori M. ARNOLD (Tom LEVESQUE) and their children Nicolas and Simon LEVESQUE. As per his wishes he has been cremated and the memorial service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, Halifax on Saturday, March 22nd at 2 p.m. Bill loved and lived life to the fullest, and in return was loved deeply. HORNER, Rev. Richard Wilson
Entered into the presence of his Lord, whom he faithfully served, on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the Liverpool Hospital, Liverpool, Nova Scotia. Born on January 12, 1928, in Windsor, Ontario, he was the only son of the late Stanley and Mabel (WILSON) HORNER. Richard grew up in London, Ontario and graduated from Beck Collegiate. He was married to the former Marjorie COLP in 1953. After college and seminary training, he served almost 50 years as a pastor and teacher. During his ministry he served as a pastor of Baptist Churches in New Brunswick, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Michigan, Ontario and Nova Scotia. In addition, he served on the faculty of Baptist Bible College, Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina, Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, Allen Park, Michigan, and London Baptist Bible College, London, Ontario. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie in Port Mouton, Nova Scotia, sons, David, Bangor, Maine and Philip (Eileen), Windsor, Vermont; daughters Deborah (Kevin) HORNER- RICHARDSON, Cornish, New Hampshire, and Esther (Douglas) ROORDA of Pella, Iowa, and 18 grandchildren; sisters Ruth ROWE, London, Ontario, and Janet HORNER, Toronto, Ontario. He will be greatly missed for his love of God, love of knowledge and scholarship, love of family and Friends and overall kindness. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler's Funeral Home, Liverpool. A family graveside service has taken place Saturday, May 24/'08 in Port Mouton. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
