SCOTT, Joan Louise Isobelle (née ABBOTT)
(Nursing Sister World War 2)
Passed away peacefully, January 21, 2008, in Owen Sound in her 88th year. Predeceased, in 2003, by Maurice S. SCOTT, her cherished best friend and husband. Loving, and much loved, mother of Deborah DOYLE, Patricia SCOTT, and Heather COPELAND. Joan leaves four grandchildren, Jacqueline, Stuart, Patrick and Frances, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Elinor BREEN, Frances RING and Joyce BROWN. The family is thankful for the wonderful care received from the staff of 4-1 (Grey Bruce Health Services) and Georgian Heights. To her special Friends, Penny, Sophie and Gail, many hugs. A private service was conducted by Rev. Claire MILLER and cremation has taken place. Joan will be remembered for her love of her family, her love of her Lord and her keen wit.

Mother of Doctor Glen BANDIERA and his wife Dr. Jolie RINGASH of Toronto. Sister of George MITCHELL and his wife Jenny, and Norm MITCHELL and his wife Kathy, of Wasaga Beach. Predeceased by her parents William and Ruby MITCHELL, five sisters and three brothers. Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin (Town of Saugeen Shores) from 6: 00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18th. Peacefully at Kelso Pines Retirement Lodge, Owen Sound on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. Hazel Scarrow DAILEY (née McCAW) of Owen Sound in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Alban SCARROW and the late Cecil Thomas DAILEY. Dear mother of Donald SCARROW and his wife Nancy of Oakville and Glenn SCARROW and his wife Joanne of Port Sydney. Sadly missed by two grandchildren Jenifer SCARROW and David SCARROW and his wife Lili and a great-granddaughter Tiana Lee SCARROW all of Calgary. Also survived by her sister Laura RINGHAM of Owen Sound. Predeceased by a sister Gertrude PFOHL and a brother Roy McCAW. Loving grandpa of Christopher and Timothy AIELLO, Jeffrey, Matthew and Elizabeth SCANLON, David and Claire JEFFERSON. DOAN, Doris Elva (née SAYLOR)
75, of Tavistock passed away in the Stratford General Hospital on Thursday, March 6, 2008. She was born in Mosa Township, Middlesex County on March 15, 1932 a daughter of the late Isaac Roy SAYLOR and the former Elva Mae TUNKS. Doris was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Church in Stratford; was a Past President of Women's Aglow and had been a long time volunteer at the House of Blessing and L'Arche in Stratford. She married Donald Percy DOAN at Bothwell on July 1, 1950. He predeceased her on September 22, 2000. She was also predeceased by her son, Paul DOAN. Doris is survived by two sons, David DOAN and Suzanne BROADBENT of Mississauga, Tim and wife Janie DOAN of Tavistock; two daughters, Joanne VERSTEEG and Chuck DRENNAN of Woodstock, Wendy and husband Ed BISSADA of Toronto five grandchildren, Raymond VERSTEEG, Ted BISSADA, Will BISSADA, Kate DOAN and Liam DOAN; one great-grand_son, Braden WALTHAM one brother, Ken and wife Linda SAYLOR of Bothwell; two sisters Betty McMILLAN of Tavistock, Bev and husband Clive HAMILTON of Sarnia; sisters-in-law, Edna RINGROSE of Kenora, Donna ADAM/ADAMS of LaGrange, Georgia and Helen DOAN of Saint Thomas. Besides her husband, son and parents she was predeceased by her brother, Donald SAYLOR; her sisters-in-law, Shirley SAYLOR- McMASTER and brothers-in-law, Don McMILLAN, Joe McMASTER, Ted RINGROSE, Wes DOAN, and Pete ADAM/ADAMS. Born in Ridderkerk, The Netherlands on February 24, 1923 to the late Rutgeradus and Bastiaantje (DEJONG) MEIJER. Beloved husband for 56 years to the late Pearl MEYER (2005.) Loving father of the late Jean MULLER (1998,) Linda and Jerry VANMINNEN of Chatham, George and Carol MEYER of London, Harry MEYER and Dawn McKILLOP of Toronto, and Sylvia RINTJEMA of Chatham. Loving grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Brother of Gerrit (Rita) MEIJER of The Netherlands. Predeceased by two sisters Plonie GROWNEWEG and Annie VAN'TZELFDE. Brother-in-law of Bas and Rieka BAARS of Saint Thomas, and Marie, Jaan, Teu, and Janna all of The Netherlands. Hugo immigrated to Canada in 1958 and was a Mechanical Contractor in Chatham. He was also a Plumbing Inspector in the Chatham area for a number of years. Hugo was a longtime member of the Free Reformed Church, Chatham. Born January 14, 1911, passed away February 10, 2008 in her 97th year. Daughter of late George James WEALES and Annie Courtice WEALES (née KINGCOME.) Survived by her sisters Gwendolyn McNAMARA (née WEALES), Mae BIRKETT (née WEALES), brother Donald WEALES (Ruth) and sister Margaret WEALES (née BIRD,) predeceased by her sister Molly, brothers Harry, George and Phillip, Late brothers-in-law Vincent McNAMARA, John BIRKETT, and sisters-in-law Merla WEALES and Betty WEALES. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews but especially Hilda (Dee) CHENIER/CHENÉ and daughter Tienne RINTOUL (Alex), Bill McNAMARA, Ann and their children Emily ATTWOOD (Daniel) and Liam McNAMARA (Andrea.) She will also be missed by Robert CHENIER/CHENÉ, father of Tienne. Born in Plymouth, England, Edna (NeeNee) emigrated with her family in 1914 to Canada. Growing up in Niagara, Ontario, she took an active role in raising her younger siblings, later becoming a nanny and ultimately helping to raise her nephew, niece and, more recently, her great-niece. A proud Canadian who loved the snow in winter as much as she loved her flower garden in the summer, she lived on both the east and west coasts of Canada, where she became an ardent Girl Guide and Ranger. She was involved in Guides in Lorne Park and will be missed by her friend and fellow Guide, Kaye Hobbs. A funeral service will be held 1: 00 p.m. Wednesday February 13, 2008, Saint Paul's Anglican Church Lorne Park, 1190 Lorne Park Road, Mississauga, Ontario. Visitation Tuesday February 12, 2008 at Skinner and Middlebrook Funeral Home, Port Credit, from 7: 00-9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Saint Paul's Anglican Church, Lorne Park, Mississauga, Ontario.
