JONES, Janet I. (née SWERDFAGER)
After a four year battle with cancer, Janet's family are sad to announce that she passed away on July 6th, 2008 surrounded by her family. Survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Gordon JONES, Janet was born in Ottawa on November 24, 1935. Predeceased by her parents Hazel and Murray SWERDFAGER and her sister Betty MOUNT and brother Ron SWERDFAGER, she is survived by her sister Lynda WAGNER of Calgary. She is also survived by her much loved children Susan (John SCHUMACHER) Laura (Mike RASBERRY) David (Karen) JONES and Karen (Randall VICKERSON.) She was a dearly loved Nana by her 12 grandchildren: Laura KEOHANE, Katrina, Michael and Petr SCHUMACHER, Adam, Matt and Jenna RASBERY, Robert, Sarah and William JONES and Rachel and Simon VICKERSON. Janet grew up in Ottawa, attended Lisgar Collegiate and the Ottawa Teachers' College. After a brief time as a kindergarten teacher, she stayed home to raise her children and then began a career as a volunteer, using her extensive organization and leadership skills. She served her church, Parkwoods United in Don Mills and Saint_John's United in Oakville, where she taught Sunday School and served on many committees as well as serving as Chair of the Saint_John's Church Board, she was a volunteer at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for 20 years and also served as a member of the Hospital board. She was a volunteer for the Canadian Red Cross for 30 years, starting in Oakville where she was branch President, and then she served on the Ontario Zone Board for 16 years, 2 of them as President. She was then elected to the National Board were she served on many committees for 12 years. In 1988 Janet was named a member of the Order of the Red Cross and at the time of her retirement in 1996 from the National Board, she was elevated to be an Officer of the Order of the Red Cross. Janet's greatest pleasure and dedication were reserved for the Oakville Symphony Orchestra, which she joined, as a violinist, the year it was founded 1967. For 40 years she played each concert as well as organizing many off stage activities, from fund-raising projects to social events. She served on the orchestra's Board of Directors for ten years, three of those as President and Chair. In November 2002, Janet was presented with the Queen's Jubilee medal for her volunteer work in the community. Cremation has taken place. Visitation for family and Friends will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, Oakville, (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) between 4-6 p.m. on Friday, July 11th. A service of celebration of Janet's life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 2 p.m. in Saint_John's United Church, 262 Randall St. Oakville, Ontario L6J 1P9. HALL, Norah Iris (née MOTT)
Died peacefully after a long and healthy life on April 12, 2008 in London, Ontario. She was born April 25, 1903 in Christchurch, England. Predeceased by her husband John J. HALL (1954,) daughter Joan I. PEARSON (2007,) daughter-in-law Winifred HALL (2004) and granddaughter Audrey RENDELL- READ (2004.) Norah will be lovingly remembered by her son Jeffrey I. HALL of England, son-in-law Robert M. PEARSON, grandchildren David PEARSON (Rose Marie,) Elizabeth LOPEZ (Julio,) great-grandchildren Julio LOPEZ (Claire TACON) and David LOPEZ, grandniece Patricia RIEHL (Peter) and family of London, grand_son Ivan RENDELL- READ (Merle) and family of England, cousin Jean RASHLEY of England, and many other relatives and Friends. Her sweet smile was an inspiration and she will be missed by all who knew her. A very special thanks to the staff of Saint Mary's for their kind and compassionate care of Norah. Beloved wife of David WATSON and predeceased by her first husband Nelson HAYES (1984.) WELCH, Charles Ivan
In his 82nd year passed away Saturday, April 12th, 2008 after a short illness. Beloved husband of Judith, father of Larry WELCH (Lynn) of Poplar Hill, Brenda MUTTER (Harold) of Wasaga Beach, Vikki SEARLE (Mike) of Komoka, Randy WELCH (Anne) of London, Cheryl RASTIN (Dave) of Mount Brydges, and Chris WELCH (Kim) of Victoria, British Columbia and he was also the beloved grandfather of 17 grandchildren. Sadly missed by his sisters Dolly BOUK (Jack) of London and Marjorie LUTTIKHOF (Bill) of Lambeth and all his nieces and nephews. Many people got to know Charlie through his association with the Little Beaver (Byron) Restaurant. Charlie was also a member of the Arthur Currie Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion in Strathroy and a member of the Strathroy Seniors Centre. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 4th, 2008 at 1: 00 p.m. at the Denning Bros. Funeral Home in Strathroy. Visitation 1 hour prior to service. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Charles.

Passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the age of 61. Beloved husband, best friend and soulmate of Lynn for 25 years. Special father and friend of Kim (Mike) OPDECAM and Nicole (Marc) SAINT_JACQUES, of London. Dear son of Kae WELCH (Rake,) of London, and the late Charles (April, 2008) and Judy WELCH, of Strathroy. Father of Erica (Stu) PENNYCOOK, of London, Alison (Fred) RONSICK, of Ingersoll, Tanya and Nicholas WELCH, of London. He will be missed by siblings, Brenda (Harold) MUTTER, of Wasaga Beach, Vikki (Mike) SEARLE, of Komoka, Randy (Anne) WELCH, of Port Stanley, Cheryl (Dave) RASTIN, of Mount Brydges, and Chris (Kim) WELCH of Victoria, British Columbia. Dear Papa of the loving grandchildren, who always put a smile on his face, Spencer, Malcolm, Tyler and Samuel. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved pet, Pippi. Special nephew of Dolly (Jack) BOUK and family, of London. Much loved son-in-law of Patricia WINDOVER, of London. Cherished brother-in-law of Mary Lou GODDARD and family, of London. He will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, Friends, employees and customers. Larry was the founder and owner of the Little Beaver Restaurant, Komoka. He will be surely missed. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the Victorian Order of Nurses, and the caring staff, nurses and doctors at Victoria Hospital in London and Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.
