Passed away peacefully on July 17th, 2008 at the age of 87. Survived by his loving wife Olga. Loving father of Milan and his wife Jennifer HAY, George and his wife Sladjana. Cherished grandfather "Deda" of Kristina, Amanda, Jessica, Filip, and Anastasia. The visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Centre, 50 Overlea Blvd., (416) 423-1000 on Sunday, July 20th from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, on Monday, July 21st, 2008 at 10: 30 a.m. Interment York Cemetery. Of Kitchener and formerly of Wiarton, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Tuesday April 8th, 2008 at the age of 9 years. Cherished daughter of Natasha BURLEY. Loving sister to Jordyn, at home. Sadly missed by many family and Friends. Tierra will be remembered fondly by everyone at Sunbeam Lodge, as well as Harriet Nixon POPE and Cathy IRVING of Bruce Peninsula Association for Community Living. POPE, Richard " Dick" Kenyon
(born in 1929, Evanston, Illinois)
Passed away peacefully at home on Gabriola Island, British Columbia, in the early morning hours of January 20, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Susan, their daughter Naomi (Gary) and his sons, Kenyon, Andrew and Matthew (Su Lin). Dick was a kind and gentle man who saw the world through humanist glasses. While attending Reed College (Portland, Oregon) and the University of Chicago, he conducted anthropological fieldwork with the Kickapoo Indians of Oklahoma and Mexico. As Professor of Anthropology at the University of Regina (1967-95) he dedicated himself to teaching and mentorship. His influence was not limited to the Academy but also extended to his direct engagement with the community, from local politics and his commitment to social responsibility, to his passionate discussions of philosophical questions and human understanding. He is deeply missed. A celebration of his life will be announced. In lieu of flowers, Friends may make a contribution to the charity of their choice as a token of remembrance.

SCHWIEDER, Frank MacKay
With heavy hearts, the family announces the death of Frank MacKay SCHWIEDER in the early hours of the morning, March 13, 2008, at the age of 91 years. Born December 12, 1916, Frank was the eldest child of the late Philip and Allie SCHWIEDER of Marquis, Saskatchewan. A graduate of mechanical engineering, University of Saskatchewan, Frank worked with dedication in northern Ontario, Toronto, Montreal and Zurich, Switzerland over his 40-year career, but his true life's work was the care of his family. Frank was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy SCHWIEDER, dearest Dad to Murray SCHWIEDER and his wife, Connie, and Marilyn POPE and her husband, Robert, and much loved and admired Grandpa Frank to Patrick SCHWIEDER and Jamie and Michael POPE. Frank also leaves his dear sisters, Phyllis, Betty and Jacqueline (predeceased by sister Margaret and brothers Murray and Bob), and many extended family members. The family offers special thanks to Friends and neighbours who made Frank part of their lives and helped him live his last years in his own Mississauga home. Friends may call at the Turner and Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga (Hwy. 10 north of Queen Elizabeth Way), on Sunday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel 11 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008. Saturday, June 7, 2008, in Toronto. Born in Ottawa, August 9, 1913, Cecilia was a public health nurse and lobbyist for awareness and research concerning infectious diseases. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Anstruther POPE, and is survived by her nephew, Charles Alexander POPE, her cousin, Isabel ASHTON, and dear Friends, Philip and Sue STEWARD/STEWART/STUART. No funeral at Cecilia's request. Interment private. Donations in support of medical research, or to Christie Gardens, Toronto, would be appreciated.

Joan passed away peacefully with her family by her side, in Toronto on Sunday May 11th, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving wife of John POPELAS, cherished mother of Ken and Christine, Kathy, Jane and Harvey (2001), Greg, Michelle and Grant and John and Noreen. Adored grandmother of Celeste and Rob, Jessica and Mark, Jack, Alexander, Kendra, Holden, Grace, Will, Ava, Joseph, Mia, Leo and LouLou. Joan was predeceased by her parents John and Mary WHITE/WHYTE, sisters Marlene (1967,) Mary Lou (2003,) Patricia (2004) and Bill (1994) and brother Edwin (2007). Joan is survived by her siblings, Sister Mary Carmel, Reverend Francis WHITE/WHYTE, Jack and Marilyn all of London, Pat and Joan of St. Catharines, Jim and Rita of Forest and Elaine and David of Ireland. Joan was born on July 18th, 1931 in Stratford, Ontario. Joan and John married in London, moved to Tilbury and later relocated to Kingsville where they settled and raised their active family. They were married for 55 wonderful years and she will always be remembered as a devoted wife and exceptional mother. Her full life centered around her 6 children and her 13 grandchildren, dedicating herself to their many activities and watching with great pride as their own wonderful lives evolved. Always shunning the spotlight, few people knew that Joan was accomplished at many things. She was a magical baker, a wonderful gift passed down from her mother and in turn to her children and grandchildren. Gifted with her hands, she had a talent for needlework. Her labours of love were cherished and loved by many over the years. Joan enjoyed her garden and was an enthusiastic golfer, a sport she came to later in life, that she happily shared with John and her close circle of Friends as members of the Kingsville Golf and Country Club. She lead by example and actively volunteered for various charities. Joan was a member and past president of the Catholic Women's League, a 30 year volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society, and a member of the Leamington Parkinson's Support Group. Joan will be remembered above all else for her strong faith, humility, thoughtfulness and love of Friends and family. Friends may call at C. Loved sister of (her twin) Ruth MacKENZIE of London, late Reginald POPHAM and the late Kellond POPHAM. Dear aunt of Bill MacKENZIE and his wife Shelley of London, and Mary CREECH and her husband David of Collingwood. Also survived by several great-nephews and great-nieces, one great-great-nephew and one great-great-niece. Born in Saint Thomas, April 5, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Nell (OLDREIVE) POPHAM. Louise was a former employee of Banghart, Kelly, Doig and Co. and Canadian Timken. She was a member of Saint_John's Anglican Church, Saint Thomas and a charter member of the Chancel Guild of the church. The funeral service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, Saint Thomas on Friday at 1: 30 p.m. Friends and relatives will be received by the family one hour prior. A peaceful ending at home in White Rock, British Columbia, with his beloved Joyce - wife, best friend and soul mate for 61 years - and his adoring daughter Nicole, on April 17th, 2008, age 87. Cherished first child of Theodor and Henriette POPPER. Abbey will always remain in the hearts of his loving sisters Maria (Charles) and Birgitt (Mike), brother John (Muriel), Nicole's partner John, and sister-in-law Gwen (John). Proud and affectionate uncle and great-uncle to his nephews and nieces. Abbey was devoted to a wide circle of relatives and Friends. A man of high principles and sensitivity, he revered all living creatures. Abbey's many interests included a passion for tennis and sports, modern history and current affairs. He was an astute economist, and his linguistic skills were particularly useful in World War 2. Abbey's wonderful sense of humour leaves a lasting legacy of joy and love for us all. Flowers graciously declined. If so desired, donations to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or charity of choice would be appreciated. At Abbey's request, there will be no service. Grieve that he has gone. Rejoice that he has been.
