Howard was born in Hanover on March 4, 1927, being one of six
children of George and Annie

LOCKING. He loved animals
and outside of farming spent his younger years in trucking and
construction business. He was an avid horse lover, owning many,
and was a familiar face around the local racetracks.
A time of remembrance will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover
on Friday, January 18, 2008 from 10 a.m. until the time of a
Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment
in Hanover Cemetery.
In Howard's memory, expressions of sympathy to the Humane Society,
Heart and Stroke Foundation or Cancer Society were appreciated.

STRANGE passed away peacefully on May 14, 2008,
surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife,

Although
born in O'Leary, Prince Edward Island, Hazen spent most of his
life in Fredericton. His life was filled with achievements including
many distinguished awards. He holds BBA, B.A. and BCL
degrees from University of New Brunswick and began his law career
after being admitted to the Bar in 1964. He spent time in private
practice and worked in Ottawa for the 1967 Centennial Commission
before returning to Fredericton in 1967 to become a prosecutor
with the province of New Brunswick. He was appointed Assistant
Director of Public Prosecutions in 1969 and became Director in
1971. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1978. Hazen was appointed
to the Provincial Court of New Brunswick in 1981. He worked initially
in Burton and later in Fredericton and enjoyed travelling around
the province to hear cases. He loved his time serving as Chief
Provincial Court Judge from 1987-1997. He continued on the bench
until his sudden passing. Hazen was a true gentleman. He treated
people with fairness and respect and was highly regarded by those
in his profession. His love for his work was secondary only to
his love for his family. In his spare time, he was an avid salmon
fisherman and storyteller. He will be sadly missed by all who
loved him. A celebration of Hazen's life will be held Tuesday,
May 20th at 2 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral in Fredericton.
Cannon T.A. Smith and the Very Reverend Keith Joyce will officiate.
Donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross or the New Brunswick
Extra-Mural Program. The family wishes to thank all of those
involved in caring for Hazen over the last few days of his life.

BROWN are saddened by his death on Sunday,
March 9, 2008 at Toronto Western Hospital. Les was born in New
Liskeard, Ontario, on November 8, 1918, the fifth child of George
BROWN and Annie
SAVAGE formerly of Sheffield. His family were
survivors of the Temiskaming fire of 1922. Les attended Public
and High School in New Liskeard and graduated from Queen's University
in 1943 with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. He served in the Royal
Canadian Engineers in World War 2. His working career was with
Ontario Hydro head Office. Les is survived by his wife Louise

on Wolf Lake and the forty years he worked and sometimes relaxed
there were the best years of his life. He took early retirement
and he and Louise moved to a new home in Cavan in 1976, returning
to Toronto in 2003 to live in Christie Gardens. Cremation and
private interment will take place. A Memorial Service will be
held on April 5th at 11 a.m. at Kingston Road United Church,
975 Kingston Rd., Toronto. Visitation will be before the service
and a time of fellowship and lunch will follow. If desired, donations
may be made to the Queen's University Student Financial Assistance
Fund, Kingston, Ontario, K7L 3N6, or a charity of your choice.

his 91st birthday. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years,

ASHTON. Born in Winnipeg in
1917, Tony was a hardworking, good-humoured, loving and charitable
man. A golf enthusiast, he was a caddy at 10 years of age, later
becoming a golf pro in his twenties. During the war, Tony met
Ethel in the airforce and was a gunnery instructor for the Royal
Canadian Air Force flight training school, stationed principally
at Virden, Manitoba. Post World War 2, Tony and Ethel began what
would turn into a long life of love, happiness and adventure.
Together they raised an active family and cleared land at One
Island Lake to build a camp/cottage for family summers of swimming,
boating, berry picking, water skiing, saunas, and bonfires. Tony
worked for WH Marr and later became a senior officer, director,
and significant shareholder of Vulcan Machinery and Equipment in
Thunder Bay. He travelled to mining/logging locations in Manitoba,
Northern Ontario and the U.S.A. Tony volunteered with the Boy
Scouts of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Pacific Animal
Therapy Society, and helped teach introductory golf to young
people. He was an early proponent of the Fred Sgambati Golf Tournament.
In his retirement years, Tony and Ethel travelled overseas, wintered
in Hollywood Beach, Florida, and settled in British Columbia
Tony enjoyed gardening, working outdoors, and handcrafts. He
made golf clubs, wood carvings, playhouses and a Victorian dollhouse.
He was a master of the 2x4. He enjoyed singing a few lines of
an old favourite when the moment struck and always had a story
at hand to tell. The family wishes to thank Sunrise of Unionville

2008 just shy of his 83rd birthday, Stephen Orest

away. Father of Oksana, Myroslava, Orest and his wife Joanne,
and Nestor. Loving and caring grandfather of Zoe

Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel,
252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, where family will receive Friends
on Friday, January 18, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Ukrainian
Service - The Panachyda - will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at
the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will take place at Saint Mary's
Ukrainian Catholic Church, 115 York Rd., Guelph, on Saturday,
January 19, 2008, at 12: 00 p.m. Interment, St. Volodymyr Ukrainian
Cemetery, Oakville. As expressions of sympathy, donations to
the Children of Chernobyl Canadian Fund would be appreciated

The family would like to extend a grateful thank you to the staff
at Meadowcroft Place for their constant effort. Also, a special
thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of the Guelph General
Hospital, especially the supportive nurses of the Stepdown Wing
at 5E, and those on 4E for making our father's last days comfortable.
