PINDER,
Margaret
Shirley (formerly
HALL, née
RATHWELL)
Margaret passed away December 28, 2007, in her home in Saskatoon,
surrounded by her adoring family. She was ill with cancer for
only a short time. Her incredible passion for life was exemplified
by her commitment to her family and to her many Friends. She
believed that through hard work and a positive outlook anything
can be achieved, a philosophy she rigorously instilled in her
children and encouraged in her grandchildren. Margaret was born
to Muriel (née
TEARE) and Herbert
RATHWELL on July 7, 1923, and
grew up in Moose Jaw. She was very proud of her farming heritage
and the lessons she learned on the farm during the depression
years instilled a commitment to hard work. She mixed this work
ethic with her own brand of fun and the results were infectious.
At age 17 she left home and went into training at The Holy Cross
Hospital in Calgary, anxious to become a nurse and join the fighting
overseas. As befitted her style, she was impatient to be on the
front line where the action was. Her adventuresome military career
took her to such far off places as Dundurn, Regina, Prince Albert
and finally ended in Maple Creek where she met and married Doctor Raymond
Leslie HALL (from Wadena,) and with him they established a private
practice in Elrose, Saskatchewan. Both Jeffrey and Leslie were
born there. Her next stop was to Toronto and during Ray's internship
their third child, Janet, was born. In 1956, the family returned
to Saskatoon, where Ray and Margaret set up an ophthalmologic
practice. Ray died suddenly, at the age of 36, leaving Margaret
with the three small children. While recovering from this tragic
turn in life, she met Ross
PINDER, who had recently suffered
his own overwhelming tragedy, with the loss of his wife and children
in an automobile accident. Their marriage brought them both out
of darkness; the light was shone by three more children, Terri,
Douglas, and Paul. The family became one. Marg and Ross's 46 year
marriage was, from the beginning, charmed, and, for her six children,
twelve grandchildren (and one great-grandchild) it will be an
enduring model of an unsurpassed love affair. Marg's unwavering
commitment to Ross and her support of his many philanthropic
and business endeavors and to his work at Pinder's Drug Stores
helped them develop a very successful partnership in life. Marg
and Ross shared many fun activities together, whether it was
hunting, fishing, golfing, watching football or hosting great
parties and each event was never without Margaret's trademark
glamour and style. No matter where they were, whether it was
in Saskatoon, Sun Lakes, or Waskesui, Marg opened her home and
her heart to lots of Friends and family. After Ross died in 2004,
Margaret continued to foster her lifelong Friendships while teaming
up with a group of very special ladies she often referred to
as 'my new young Friends' who helped continue her active and
dynamic life. After a wonderful 84 years, Margaret passed away
surrounded by those who loved her. Knowing that she would once
again be reunited with Ross, she went with the same style and
grace and determination that she exhibited all her life. It doesn't
get any better than that! Margaret is predeceased by both her
husbands and her daughter-in-law, Jan
PINDER.
She is survived
by her sons Jeff, Doug (Kelly), Paul and her daughters Leslie,
Janet (Joe
KAYORIE) and Terri (Larry
CLOSE.)
She will be greatly
missed by her grandchildren Nicolle (Sheldon
FELIX) and great-grand_son,
Alexander; Natalie (Drew
COX) and Robin
PINDER; Sarah, Megan
and Elizabeth
CLOSE; Paige, Madison, Davis and Kennedy

Michael and Gillian

She is also survived by her sister

in a celebration of Margaret's life with services to be held

at 3: 30 p.m. and reception to follow at the University Faculty
Club. Email condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com.

PLANK,
James
Wilfred
Heard his name on February 29, 2008. His release from earthly
pain was welcome and well prepared as his loved ones were gifted
with time to acknowledge and share their love and admiration
for this first-class man - a gentleman and a scholar, Jim modeled
a life of strong Christian values, solid family ideals, and a
deep work ethic. His joy was found in his love of the Lord, his
lifelong sweetheart, his family, great literature, and fine works
of music. Jim had the ability to inspire those around him to
rise to greater heights morally, intellectually and spiritually,
challenging us all to follow our own paths. His impact was felt
by many after 34 years of teaching - many of these at Herman
Collegiate Institute in Windsor. And, he lent comfort to many
through his years of Pastoral Care in jails and hospitals, and
his Elder work in his churches. His careers included selling
subscriptions to Liberty magazine as a young boy, reining in
run-away horses on his 2nd job as milkman, teaching and volunteering
with the Alzheimer Society. Born on October 29, 1930 in London,
Ontario, Jim spent most of his school years there before moving
with his parents to a farm in Merlin, Ontario. Jim enjoyed a
blessed and rich childhood. He will be dearly missed by his sisters
Audrey LUMLEY
(John,) and Marion
WINDELL. He is predeceased by
his parents Laura and Fred
PLANK, his sister Helen
ZANIER and
his brother Fredrick
PLANK.
Jim takes temporary leave from his
wife of 53 years, Mildred
PLANK and his four children - Cynthia
MORRIS, Grant
PLANK (Linda
PLANK), Amy
ROBINSON (Claude
ROBINSON)
and Jennifer
PLANK
(Michael

PLANK.
We invite you to share our tears and joys in celebrating the
life of Jim
PLANK through your prayers of thanksgiving for a
life well lived. At the request of James, there will be no funeral
or public memorial service - his spirit lives on when you gather
for prayer, raise your voice in song, or are moved by fine prose.
Donations to the Foundation of Chatham Kent Health Alliance-Magnetic
Resonance Imager Campaign (http://www.foundationckha.com/mri/mri.html)
or charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements
