Mary Susan
(DAVIDSON)
HOWARD of Calgary passed away peacefully
on Friday, January 4, 2008 at the age of 91 years. Mary was born
in Coleman, Alberta on May 8, 1916 and lived there and in Rosedale,
Alberta before moving to Calgary. She attended Elbow Park School,
Western Canada High School, Mount Royal College and graduated
from the University of Alberta in 1937 with a degree in Home

the City of Calgary Electric System (now Enmax) where she met
a young electrical engineer working with Calgary Power Ltd. (now

1947 they returned to Calgary where they stayed until 1960 when
they returned to Montreal for another fifteen years before moving
back to Calgary for good. As a young girl growing up in Elbow
Park Mary received a Silver Cross medal from the Girl Guides
of Canada for saving a young girl who was about to drown in the
Elbow River. She was active in the Glencoe Club where she was
a figure skater since its inception and had memberships in the
Calgary Golf and Country Club, the Royal Montreal Golf Club,
and the Beach Grove Golf Club. Mary enjoyed bridge and the activities
of PEGG
Wives and
Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. She golfed and skied
for most of her life from the days of using climbing skins on
Brewster Mountain at Sunshine in the 1930s to the modern days
at Sunshine, Lake Louise, Quebec, and Europe. She and Bert travelled
widely and in particular enjoyed cruises to the Orient, Europe
and South America. In 1997 she travelled by herself to the game
parks in South Africa and two years later to the Red Sea and
India. Her memory will always be cherished by her family and
Friends. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Tony
and Noreen, Daryl and Diane, and four grandchildren, Ryan, Karen,
