LANSDOWN, Marlene (née MUSGROVE)
(October 31, 1932-May 4, 2008)
Surrounded by her family after a courageous two year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Ted LANSDOWN. She will be sadly missed by her children Gordon LANSDOWN (Paula) of Kingston, Ontario, Leanne PETROFF (Neil) of Toronto and Alison LANSDOWN (David PLAXTON) of Richmond Hill, Ontario. Marlene will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Alexandra and Nicholas LANSDOWN; Lauren, Carey and Brent PETROFF Cole and Sean PLAXTON. Dear sister of Peggy DANARD of Surrey, British Columbia and daughter of the late Wilfred (Bud) and Thelma MUSGROVE. Marlene was born in Winnipeg and attended Rupert's Land Girls' School. She followed both her parents into the medical profession and was a 1954 graduate of the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to her marriage to Ted in 1957 she worked as a stewardess for Trans-Canada Airlines and was a long standing member of the Maple Wings Association. After raising her family, and devoting many years to volunteering for various causes, Marlene went back to nursing in the Haematology department at Toronto Western Hospital. Marlene loved spending time with Ted and their many Friends in Barbados during the winter months and with the family up at their cottage in the Haliburton Highlands during the summer. Her compassion, grace and strong devotion to family will be remembered by all who knew her. A service to celebrate Marlene's life will be held at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East) on Monday, May 12th, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 12 noon. Peacefully at home, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, June 28, 2008. Helen will be truly missed by her husband of 57 years, Carl LAYWINE. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Peter LAYWINE and Anne LEWISON, and Wendy and Bruce GITELMAN. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Bea and the late Barney ALPER, Edythe and the late Harvey SALSBURG, and Harry and Selma MUSICAR. Devoted grandmother of Julian, and Elizabeth (Lizzie) LAYWINE. Helen was a long-time member of the McGill Club and Spadina JCC. She will be missed by nieces, nephews, cousins and Friends. For more than 50 years, Helen travelled the world with Carl, and she was usually happiest stretched out on a deck chair with a good book, for a day at sea. In loving memory of Ethel CASE who died peacefully at the Manitoulin Health Centre on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the age of 98.
Born in Manitowaning on November 2, 1909 to Matilda (née McMURRAY) and Henry McMULLEN. She has been a resident of Sandfield since 1947. She has always been very active in her community, an ardent church supporter, a long time member of Sandfield Women's Institute, and the Tehkummah Senior Triangle Club. Ethel loved going to Bingo. She had many talents, quilting, knitting, sewing, gardening, crocheting, and cooking. Ethel enjoyed several trips, seeing the east and west coast, Florida, Edmonton, and other points in Saskatchewan. Cherished husband William James CASE (predeceased 1965). Proud mother of six children: Burton (wife Audrey) CASE, Vilda (husband Ron) FETTERLY, Rex (wife Glory) CASE, William (wife Margaret predeceased) CASE, Marlene (husband Darrell) DEWAR, Dennis (wife Lynda) CASE. Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Trillium Villa on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Charlotte (VAUTOUR) and the late Simone. Dear father of the late Lorraine MUSSIO and Frances (Trixie) COLLIER. Father-in-law of Peter MUSSIO, Camlachie and Fran's partner Randy BAXTER, Sarnia. Very special grandfather to Paul (Cathy) MUSSIO, Grand Bend, John (Annette) MUSSIO, Alan (Jayne) COLLIER, Michelle (Lee) PAWLEY and Nicole (Rob) SOKOL all of Sarnia. Great-grandfather of Emily and Daniel MUSSIO and Corey and Spencer PAWLEY. Brother of Fern (Muriel) COURCHESNE, Sudbury, Reina (Joe) LILKO, Milton, Andre (Jacqueline) COURCHESNE, Sarnia and Cecile (George) LANGLOIS, Orleans. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Because of his love for fishing and the outdoors he spent his retirement years in Tobermory on Dorcas Bay Rd. He was a veteran of World War 2, stationed at the Alaskan border. Paul was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Royal Canadian Naval Association, the Point Edward Ex-Servicemen's Association and the 1st Hussars W.O. and Sergeant's Mess. At Paul's request there will be no funeral home visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. On Sunday, April 27th 2008, in her 66th year Patricia peacefully passed into the arms of her Lord. Her courageous journey ended at home surrounded by the love of her family. Beautiful bride, life long companion and best friend of Reverend Ed. MUSSON. Cherished mother of Kevin MUSSON, Kim SAMPSON/SAMSON (Brian) and Kelley MacKINNON (Scott).
