Suddenly on June 6, 2008. Predeceased by his wife Adele AXTON. Loving father of Christina HOLLIS née AXTON (Robert) and Nigel Stephen AXTON (Nikki.) Cherished grandfather of Marissa HOLLIS (Graeme) and Brendan HOLLIS (Emily.) Survived by his sisters Gwen BOCK (Vern) and Peggy METAXAS; brother David AXTON; and many nieces and nephews. A former Royal Canadian Air Force officer he pursued a long and successful career in meteorology and physics. He possessed a formidable Mensa intellect until his last breath. McALORUM, Robert " Bob" Allan
(January 20, 1942) passed away peacefully at his home in Prospect Hill on May 15, 2008. It is in the spirit of my love for him that I recognize the passing of my beloved husband. Bob leaves behind Geraldine his wife of 43 years, and his children Sean of Midland, Ontario and Shannon of The Pas, Manitoba. He is survived by his parents Robert and Margaret McALORUM of Chatham, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Jerry and Aldeen MOYNAHAN of Tilbury. Also remembering Bob are his sister and brother-in-law Margie and Terry METCALF of Saint Thomas and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pam and Cecil REAUME of Tilbury. Cremation occurred following a bedside anointing. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Granton Wesley United Church in Granton on May 25th. Visitation is at 1 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor Paul VOLLICK. Please bring pictures and memories you would like to share. Bob was a member of the London, Saint Thomas Chapter of the RAA, the Granton Masonic Lodge, The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #236, and the Retired Teachers Association. Surrounded by family on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late James (1999). Loving mother of Gregory "Harry" of Calgary, Peter and his wife Pauline, Margo (SALTS,) Alan, and Shawn (METCALF) and her husband Ian MacDONALD all of Sarnia. Proud grandmother of Corry SALTS and Jessica (SALTS) Odrcich (Peter), Carrie (Garreth BALFE) and Greg DONALDSON, Wesley (Janet JACKSON,) Joseph and Laura METCALF. Dearest sister of Rose KRUPPER, Sister Josephine KOWALSKI, Ann (George) LEHTO, and Roman KOWALSKI. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sons James and Bruce and brothers Joseph, Michael and Peter KOWALSKI. A lover of music, Vi played trumpet in an all girls traveling orchestra in the 1930s and 1940s. Vi was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Women's League and volunteered with Sarnia's Meals on Wheels for many years. She will be sadly missed by her favourite cat, Gus. Vi was passionate about gardening and a talented quilter and will be most remembered as a gifted baker and pastry maker. CALDWELL, Priscilla (née MANSFIELD)
Died February 2, 2008 in Toronto. Priscilla was born in 1924 in Calcutta, India to Gilbert and Kathleen MANSFIELD. The loving memories of her will always remain for her family and hosts of Friends all over this country and across the world. She will be very much missed by her loving husband Brian, whose true partner she was for 60 years, as well as her children, Clive (Lorna) and Lindsay (Eric), and her six grandchildren Dylan, Devin, Ashley, Kailey, Nathalie and Adam. She also leaves her sister Doreen METCALF of London, Ontario, her children and their spouses and children, nieces Susan and Sally and their husbands and families, all who will deeply feel the loss. Priscilla grew up in England, served in the Women's Royal Naval Service during World War 2 and emigrated to Canada in 1947. She was a keen figure skater for many years, an active tennis player and a life member of the T.C.S. and C.C. A private cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will be held at the Trull 'North Toronto' Funeral Home and Cremation Centre 2704 Yonge St, (5 blocks south of Lawrence Ave. 416-488-1101) on Monday February 11th, 2008 at 11: 00 o'clock.

Memorial Service Doctor Deborah Aish METFORD, M.A., D. de l'U (Paris,) Professor Emeritus, Huron University College
Dr. Deborah METFORD, professor of French language and literature at Huron University College, from 1961 until her retirement at the age of 66, passed away in Markham December 15, 2007, in her 93rd year. During her career, she was instrumental in implementing the then new technique of utilizing language labs and creating special audiotapes for group teaching. After her retirement she continued to be active, writing French language texts for post secondary courses. She will be much missed in the world of French language teaching and publishing. Deborah was predeceased by her husband Jacques in 1970. She leaves four children: John (Anne Marie), Deborah (John), Peter (Aggie) and Phil (Pam). She had 9 grandchildren: Michael (Karyn), Matthew, Jasmine (Andy), Heather, Tyler, Tori, Arden, Aaron and Karena. In addition she had 4 great-grandchildren: Stanley, Nicholas, Walter and Anthony. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation with family and a memorial service will be held 1: 30 p.m. Friday July 18 at the Collegiate Chapel of Saint_John the Evangelist, Huron University College, 1349 Western Rd., London. SMITH, Richard E. " Rick"
Passed suddenly Friday, January 25th at the age of 56 sitting on his brand new snow machine in the bush in northern Ontario. This was a fitting end for a man who was dedicated to his family, Friends, the outdoors and his love of life. Raised on a farm in Azilda, Rick developed uncanny instincts about animals, nature and the land. An avid hunter, fisherman, sportsman and accomplished equestrian, he left behind a huge legacy. Rick and his wife Cathy INCH, own Foothills Farm, a full service equestrian facility in Northern Ontario. Although Rick remained planted in the valley, his desire to grow intellectually drove him to develop a variety of skills. A fully accredited course designer, Rick's knowledge of horses and innate sense of construction led him into a very successful career that enabled him to travel with Cathy and his daughter Natalie to showjumping venues across North America. Never one to sit still, other hobbies included skiing, hockey and canoeing. Whether Rick was travelling in the elite world of showjumping or out in the back 40, he was renowned for his quick wit and sense of timing. Rick's genuine interest in people and incredible loyalty to his Friends and family endeared him to all. These special traits are reflected in his son and sidekick Jedd. The loss of Rick will leave a huge void in everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was larger than life. Beloved husband of Cathy INCH. Loving father of Natalie Rebecca SMITH (Jeff LAWRENCE) and Jedd Robert William SMITH. Cherished son of Beryl (Hill) SMITH and the late Earl SMITH predeceased 1985. POTTS, Phyllis Catharine (née McLEOD)
Phyllis Catharine POTTS, beloved wife of the late Dean POTTS, passed away after a brief illness on January 6, 2008 in Centre Grey Hospital, Markdale, Ontario in her 82nd year.
Phyllis was born on December 24, 1926 to Katie (CAMPBELL) and Marshall McLEOD, on Lot 11, Conc. 9 Nottawasaga Township, nestled between the hills of Glen Huron and Dunedin. She was the third of eight children, namely Hazel (Harry ROWLEY,) Don (Betty,) Jean (Joe YAGER,) Marion (William GORDON,) Charles (Maureen,) Mildred (James WALKER) and Helen (Ronald WRIGHT.)
Phyllis earned her education at S.S.#16 Nottawasaga, Glen Huron, Ontario, writing her entrance in Singhampton. After completing school she would go to work at Dunedin General Store. She worked in the homes of the Bowerman's and Sherlock METHERAL's before venturing off to Collingwood to work in Dominion Woolens Textiles Peerless factory which made denim products; and Woolworth Department Store. During that time she boarded at the homes of the Aikins', Hornsby's, Martin's and Wilson's.
Phyllis married Wallace Dean POTTS on October 15, 1955 in Dunedin Knox Presbyterian Church, with a reception in Stayner. A honeymoon was enjoyed in Niagara Falls and also a few days in Northern Ontario. Then returning to start a new life on the family farm on the third line of Osprey Township, between McIntyre and Badjeros. Phyllis continued to work in Collingwood for awhile, before coming home to help Dean on the farm and sawmill and preparing many meals for the hired men who helped in the fields and at the sawmill. No one ever left the table hungry.
Phyllis and Dean had two children, a stillborn son in 1961 and a daughter Judith Phyllis in 1965. Judy married Dan WICKENS on October 15, 1988 and lives close by. Phyllis enjoyed watching her two grandchildren Katie and Lori growing up next door, taking advantage of every opportunity to watch them in their activities. She was indeed a "proud" Grandma.
Phyllis and Dean celebrated 44 years of marriage at the time of Dean's passing in 2000. She was fortunate to live on the family farm until her time of passing.
Baking, flowerbeds, visiting and chatting with family and Friends, and the occasional bus trip, were some of the things that she enjoyed and that helped to pass the time for Phyllis.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents Marshall in 1987 and Katie in 1989. Husband Dean (2000), sister Jean (1999) and brother-in-law Joe YAGER (1998,) brother Charles (2007.)
A Celebration of Life was held at the McMillan and Jack Funeral Home in Dundalk on January 9, 2008 with Pastor Heather McCARREL officiating. Daughter Judy gave the eulogy and niece Mariane McLEOD played the organ and pallbearers were nephews Roger GORDON, Donald GORDON, Blair GORDON, Robert McLEOD, Alex McLEOD and David WRIGHT. Flowerbearers were granddaughters Katie and Lori WICKENS and nieces Sally STUHL and Dianne ELLIOT/ELLIOTT. Spring interment in Badjeros Southline Cemetery.

MORRIS, The Reverend Doctor J.J. Harrold
Died suddenly on Saturday, June 14, 2008. Born in 1929 in Scotland and raised in Alberta, he was ordained a minister of The Presbyterian Church in Canada in 1957. He was called to congregations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario where he cared for God's people with courageous pastoral heart. His ministry included work on numerous church committees and in 1989 he served as Moderator of the 115th General Assembly of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. He was named Minister Emeritus, Glenview Presbyterian Church, Toronto. A committed church leader, he worked faithfully for denominational strength, ecumenical breadth and community integration. His contribution extended to service organizations. He loved to read, he loved to sing, he loved his family. Harrold was loved by his wife Jeanette MacDONALD; daughters Mary JESSE (Howard) and their children John and Christeen, The Reverend Jean MORRIS (Matthew VYSE,) Jo MORRIS (Graham PELAT) and their son Ian; step-daughters Tracey METHVEN (David NEALE) and their son Timothy, Nicole METHVEN (Paul SMITH) and their children Cameron and Hannah. He is predeceased by his wife Morag MacRAE, and his sisters Jessie MacKAY, Agnes REINHART and Jean WHITT. Friends may call at the Trull "North Toronto" Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 2704 Yonge Street (5 blocks south of Lawrence), on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. A celebration of Harrold's life and a Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at Glenview Presbyterian Church, 1 Glenview Avenue, Toronto, on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 2 p.m. Memorial gifts to Glenview Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to Presbyterian World Service and Development (www.presbyterian.ca/donate/pwsd) are welcome.

Of Wiarton, peacefully at Gateway Haven on Monday, March 3rd, 2008. The former Lena METLER at the age of 93 years. Devoted wife of the late Rickard “Dick” IRVINE and the late Nyal COOK. Beloved and loving mother of Bob COOK (Mary,) of Calgary; Paul COOK (Sandy,) of Elora; Tom COOK (Cathy,) of Saint Thomas; and Marcy McGILL (Bruce,) of R.R.#2 Wiarton. Cherished grandmother of Geoff COOK (Joanne); Jenny COOK (Marek CRAWFORD); Chris COOK (Nancy;) Kevin COOK (Christine;) Paul COOK (Camilla;) Becky COOK Andrew COOK (Leah WATSON); Peter COOK; Brad COOK (Tammy); Bob McGILL (Sara SALIH;) and David McGILL. John William Frederick METTERS
May 5, 1930 - September 17, 2008
In loving memory of John Metters, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge and
formerly of Evansville, died at the Lodge on Wednesday, September 17,
2008 at the age of 78 years. He was the son of the late Fred and Zella
Marie (Pickell) Metters. John had worked as an aircraft mechanic and had
farmed. He came to Manitoulin about 25 years ago. John is survived by
brother Ron Metters of Cranbrook, B.C. Also survived by son Doug Metters
of Edmonton and daughters Gail (Mike) Davis of Flower Mound, Texas and
Joanne Metters of Kincardine and grandchildren Heather and David. A
memorial service was conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel of the Culgin
Funeral Home on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 11.00 a.m. with Pastor
Maxine McVey officiating. Friends called from 10 a.m. until service time.
Cremation to take place with burial of ashes in Saint Marys. If so desired,
donations to the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary would be appreciated.

Beloved husband of Audrey HELWIG and father of Franklin HELWIG and his wife Dona of Brantford, Yvonne HELWIG of Newboro, Jennifer YENSSEN and her husband Harvey of Carrick Township and Christine KAPTEYN and her husband John of South Carolina. Remembered by his grandchildren Tammy, Charles, Jason, Icrus, Rebecca, Angela, Vincent and Jessica, and by his great-grandchildren Brian, Caprice, Olivia, Lucas, Ryan and Tristan. Brother of Doctor Lynn HELWIG and his wife Joan of Toronto and Larry HELWIG and his wife Gwen of Oregon and brother-in-law of Ruth HELWIG, Susan SMITH, Laureyne HELWIG, Gloria VAN SLYKE, Rev. Rodney was involved in his community having served as Reeve of Neustadt for 14 years. He was an active member of the Neustadt Baptist Church, the Neustadt Lions Club, the Neustadt-Normanby-Carrick Agricultural Society, and the Saugeen Valley Chorus. Friends may call at the Garrett Funeral Chapel, Neustadt on Sunday from 2: 00 to 4:00 and 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the Neustadt Baptist Church on Monday, February 25 at 1: 30 p.m. Following cremation, interment in the Neustadt Baptist Cemetery. Treasured grandmother of Laura and Chris GEBERDT; Anne▼ KOENIG and fiance Laurence SPENCER Philip KOENIG; David▼ SEIFERT; Chris McELLIGOTT and fiancee Marie-Pierre TENDLAND- FRENETTE; Joss,▼ A.J. and Simon KLINCK. Margaret was an incredible woman whose love for her family and Friends took priority in her life. Her home was a place where people found a warm welcome, good food and lots of fun. Those people whose lives she touched valued her encouragement and practical support. Margaret's faith and her commitment to her community led to her involvement in many projects and activities at St. Matthew's and the wider church, with the Hanover Hospital and at Participation Lodge. She will always be remembered for her generosity, her strength, her sense of humour and her love of life. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover on Saturday, May 3rd at 11: 00 a.m. Interment at the Hanover Cemetery will follow.
