LEWIS, Linda Diane (née HAGGANS)
Suddenly, as a result of a household fall with complications, on January 14, 2008 at age 67. Dearly beloved wife of Douglas Grinslade LEWIS of Orillia. Mother of Justin (Larissa) of Sydney, Australia; Matthew (Lorraine) of Oakville; Gillian (Danny) EATON of Vasey; Susan (Shawn) McGRAW of Orillia; mother of recently deceased Penelope Diana McKENZIE (Perrie) and Claire Louise and Graydon predeceased. Grandmother of Sydney and Meagan LEWIS, Zachary and Mickayla EATON, Gabriel Vasilaros LEWIS, and Dexter McGRAW. Sister-in-law of Diane (Herb) LETSCHE, Claire (David) VAN LOON, and Elaine (Meldon) SCHNIEDER/SNIDER/SNYDER. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Linda was the rock of the LEWIS family and we will all miss her. She supported and raised the family and then watched over us as she went about her remarkable careers. As well as acting as wife and mother she made a contribution in two careers, as a public health nurse and a lawyer. Once she had raised the family she entered law school at age 51 and was called to the bar in 1994. She was probably the most active legal aid lawyer in Orillia or Simcoe County as she had the ability to empathize with her clients as a result of her public health career. Her client's cause became her cause. At the same time she continued to volunteer in such varied fields as Quota, the Murf Committee, Orillia Association for Community Living and the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. Her husband Doug revered her as his wife, best friend, interested critic and always best supporter. She will be missed by all she touched. The late Linda Diane LEWIS will rest at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia, with visitations on Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday 2 to 4 pm.. and 7 to 9 p.m. Then to Saint Paul's United Church, 62 Peter Street North, Orillia, for a funeral service at 2: 00 p.m. on Friday, January 18th, 2008. Private Interment at St. Andrew's - Saint_James' Cemetery, Orillia. If desired, memorial donations to Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation would be gratefully appreciated. Messages of condolences are welcome at www.mundellfuneralhome.ca.
