LANCEFIELD, Charles Francis John "Jack"
passed away at Sunnybrook Aging and Veterans Care on Monday December 31,
2007. Most loved husband of the late Helen Jean (née
LAHEY) and
cherished father of Maryjean (Denis
GERTLER) and Bruce. Grandpa
Jack was absolutely adored by his grandchildren, Evan and Willa,
and loved them dearly. Jack was born a mere 2.5 lbs in Montreal
in 1927. He grew up in Montreal and North Toronto. He enlisted
in the Army during the Second World War, left to finish his education,
and re-enlisted during the Korean War and fought with the 1st Royal
Canadian Horse Artillery in the frontlines of Korea. He was an
active member of the Korean Veterans Association and returned
to Korea in 2002 as part of the Revisit Program. Jack was a proud
member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and a Life Member
of the Knights of Columbus. His positive outlook, good humour
and constant support and love will be greatly missed. Friends
may call at the Steckley- Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley
St, Barrie, on Friday, January 4 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral
Mass will be held at Saint Mary's Church, 65 Amelia Street, Barrie
on Saturday, January 5 at 10: 00 a.m. Interment at Saint Mary's
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sunnybrook Foundation,
Aging and Veterans Care, the Canadian Diabetes Association and
the Parkinson Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the
