KEMBALL, Walter George, B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed. (Univ. of Western Ontario and O.I.S.E., Toronto)
Peacefully at York Central Hospital, Richmond Hill on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at age 77. Beloved husband of Jacqueline. Loving father of Terri and her husband Ed of Edmonton, David and his wife Anja of Germany, Donald and his fiance Amber of Stouffville and Pamela and her partner Michael of Victoria. Dear grandfather of Caren, Sascha, Hannah, Nicolas, Megan and Isobel. Survived by his brother Robert and his wife Rita of Toronto. Walter spent most of his career as Geography Coordinator with the Etobicoke Board of Education, followed by many years at York University as a Course Director, Faculty of Education. He enjoyed his retirement at the family cottage on Island 960, Lake Temagami where he also played an active role with the cottage community. Friends may call at the Turner and Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, (Hwy. 10, N. of Queen Elizabeth Way), from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2008. A Celebration of Walter's life will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 2: 30 p.m. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.

In loving memory of Neville Kemp who passed away peacefully following a
long courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease at Saint Mary’s on the Lake
Hospital on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Survived by his loving wife
Isabelle, daughter Barbara (Stephen), sons Bill (Brenda) and Chris
(Tracy). Proud “Poppa” of Graham Kemp and Cora and Joey Kemp-Edmiston,
sister Joan Smiley, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would
like to thank Doctor Al McBride and the staff of 3 South at Saint Mary’s for
the tremendous care and support they provide to Nev and Isabelle over
these past 7 years. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was
held at Saint John’s Anglican Church, Kingston at 11am on Saturday,
November 22, 2008. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community
Living Kingston or Saint John’s Anglican Church, Kingston. (Arrangements

CURRIE, Douglas Duncan
Passed away peacefully at the McCall Continuing Care Centre, Mississauga, Ontario on January 22, 2008 at the age of eighty-five. Sadly missed by June (McMULLEN,) his wife of 62 years, and his three children: Mary (Peter McBRIDE) of Montreal, Andrew (Susan CROCKER) of Hantsport, Nova Scotia, and Sandy (David MOORE) of Toronto. Doug was a devoted family man, through and through. His six grandchildren: Meghan and Robert McBRIDE, Dustin and Sarah CURRIE, and Lindsay and Stephanie MOORE were a source of great pride for Doug and they will all miss their 'Papa' terribly. Predeceased by his brother Don (Hélène) and his sister Patsy (John BASSEL,) Doug is also survived by his sister Peggy (Don KEMP) as well as many nieces and nephews. After attending University of Toronto Schools, Doug earned an engineering degree from the University of Toronto in 1945. While in university, Doug was the Engineering Class President in his junior year, a member of the Engineers' Gold Key Society, the university heavyweight boxing champion, and was involved in many other sports and activities. Doug also served in the Canadian Army from May, 1944 until September, 1945. During this period, Doug was enlisted with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and was accepted as an officer in training prior to his discharge. After the war, Doug went on to enjoy a successful business career in Montreal with stops at Alcan, Dominion Bridge and Pratt and Whitney. Following his retirement, Doug was able to devote more time to sailing his yacht 'Windlark' with family members and he rekindled his boyhood interest in building and flying remote-controlled model airplanes. The family expresses warm appreciation to the staff of the McCall Continuing Care Centre and, in particular, the fourth-floor nurses and caregivers for their goodhumoured and big-hearted care in Doug's final days. There will be a short service and a celebration of Doug's life for Friends and family members at 3: 00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East). In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Doug's memory to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.

Passed away at her residence in Winnipeg on Sunday May 25, 2008. Mary Anne was born and raised in Owen Sound and received her early education here. She went on to the University of Western and received her masters degree from the University of Waterloo. After graduation Mary Anne moved to Winnipeg to work at the University of Winnipeg. She met and married her husband Arthur KEMPAN in Winnipeg and they lived in the city until her passing. Mary Anne is survived by her son Christopher KEMPAN and his partner Brandi TARAS, son William KEMPAN, and sister Nora TAILOR/TAYLOR of Toronto. She is predeceased by her parents Helen and Humphrey TAILOR/TAYLOR. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday June 3, 2008 at Saint_John Brebeuf Parish Church. Monsignor Ward JAMIESON officiated. Interment was in Thomson in the Park Cemetery. Dearly loved wife of 55 years of Henry SCHILLER and loved mother of Helmut and his wife Louise SCHILLER of London and Caroline and her husband Theo KEMPKES of Saint Thomas. Loved Oma to Kayla KEMPKES and dear step-grandmother to Tami and her husband Nelson RAFAEL, Patti and her husband Chuck SWADDLING and their son Robbie, Becki and her husband Josh PATTON and their son Logan. Dear sister of Tina LUBUN of Saint Thomas. Predeceased by a step-sister Theresa of Germany. Also survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother in Germany and several nieces and nephews in Europe and Canada. Hildegard was born in Germany on April 1st, 1929, the daughter of the late Martin and Ottilia STEPFLE. She came to Canada in 1953 and worked at Imperial Tobacco in Aylmer, Essex Wire in Saint Thomas and on a number of tobacco farms. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church. It is with both sadness and loving acceptance that the family of Richard "Rik" announce his passing at Parkwood Hospital, London, Ontario on March 8th after a brief but courageous battle with ALS. Beloved husband of Diane BENTLEY and dear father of Dana, Nancy (A.J.) and Erin. Loving step-father to Andrew and Angie. His grandchildren Conner and Olivia will dearly miss their papa. Predeceased by his parents Patricia and Robert KEMPLING and wife Joanne. Rik will be lovingly missed by his uncle, Harry LAWRY and his Lawry and Dawson cousins.
