KANDER,
Gerhard
While vacationing in Jamaica, Gerhard
KANDER passed away at 7 a.m.
on January 1, 2008. He celebrated New Year's Eve with his wife
Dr. Claire
BOMBARDIER, her sister Hélène
BOMBARDIER and niece
Myriam RICHER, at midnight they wished each other Happy New Year
and he never woke up in the morning. Gerhard was born in Germany
on August 27, 1921 an only child; he became a professional violin
soloist at age 13. In 1939 he escaped to England but his parents
never made it. The 'camp boys' (other Jewish refugees) became
his family. In Canada, he had the good fortune of being adopted
by a wonderful and generous Toronto family: Mr. Kaspar
FRASER
(founder of Fraser and Beatty law firm, now Fraser, Milner, Casgrain)
and his wife
Lois
McPHEDRAN. He eventually became an investment
advisor (recently with CIBC World Markets) but continued
to play the violin every day of his life. Visitation will be
held at their home on Saturday, January 5th, Sunday, January 6th
and Monday, January 7th between the hours of 4-7 p.m.: 18 Strathearn
Boulevard in Forest Hill (Spadina Road and St. Clair Avenue West
area). A memorial service will be arranged at a later date. In
lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr.
KANDER's memory
to either of the following charities: The Arthritis Society (www.arthritis.ca)
or The Arthritis and Autoimmunity Research Centre Foundation www.beatarthritis.ca

DICKSON/DIXON,
Keith
Stuart
(May 11, 1932-March 30, 2008)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing
of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and dear
friend. Keith will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years,
Marie-Louise, and their children Marina, Scott (Anita
TRANINGER,)
and Teresa (Mark
TIBBETTS;) and sister Joan (Eric
KANE, deceased.)
'Opa' always had a special place in his heart for his 5 grandchildren,
Mitchel, Lexi, Harry, Max and Sam. Keith was born in Bromley,
Kent, England where he grew up, attended grammar school and joined
the Royal Air Force in 1948 to satisfy his obvious passion for
flying. He immigrated to Canada several years later and joined
Trans Canada Airlines in 1956 where he enjoyed a distinguished
36 year career. He, reluctantly, retired as a senior Boeing-747
Air Canada Captain in 1992. Keith will always be remembered for
his love of flying, his incredible musical talent, and his keen
interest in all sports. We will miss his intelligence, his sharp
wit, and his quiet presence at family functions. He was always
admired for his choice of simplicity, rather than extravagance.
He cherished the simple pleasures of life - be it a quiet evening
at home with his wife or a lively family party where he enjoyed
a glass of red wine and a cigar with the boys. We hope Keith's
final flight takes him to a place of glorious sunshine, everlasting
music, and eternal happiness. See ya' Kifi, I'll always love
you and miss you. Rested at the Gilbert MacIntyre and son Funeral
Home, 'Hart Chapel', 1099 Gordon St. Guelph. Cremation has taken
place. Keith will be laid to rest at the Farnham Cemetery in
Guelph, Ontario. As expressions of sympathy donations to the
Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease through the Alzheimer 's Society would
be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral
home), or condolences may be sent at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.

KANITSCH,
Peter (1958-2008)
Passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side
Tuesday, July 8, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Peter will be sadly missed by Maria, his loving wife of 27 years,
his daughter, Stephanie and his son, Michael. His loss will be
deeply felt by his adoring mother, Maria, his sister, Sylvia
(Drew), and his niece and nephew: Charlotte and Ali; his in-laws,
John and Maria
LENGYEL, his sisters- and brothers-in-law: John
Jr., Thomas (Liz) and Andrew (Susan) as well as his niece and
nephew: Ethan and Ashley. Peter's absence will also be greatly
felt by his aunts, uncles, and cousins in Toronto, Vineland,
Montreal, Whitby, Vancouver and Hungary. He is predeceased by
his father, Emil, and his cousin, Victor. His passion for landscape
design was honed at MBTW Group, where he worked since 1982,
and where he later became a partner. He shared his love of landscaping
with Friends and family by designing gardens and backyards for
them; he was tireless in his desire to make outdoor spaces beautiful.
While world problems were not solved, many were discussed, at
length, during late night hot tub soaks with family, Friends
and neighbours. His antics, humour, fantastic backyard barbecues,
goulash cook-offs, campfires and his contributions to the Hungarian
Community - especially Hungarian Scouting - will always be remembered.
Visitation will be held at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton
Avenue West (2 lights west of Yonge Street), Toronto, Friday,
July 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church,
432 Sheppard Avenue East, Saturday, July 12, at 3 p.m. Instead
of flowers, contributions to Lung Cancer Canada are gratefully
accepted.
