BUZZA, Doris Blanche (formerly STEWARD/STEWART/STUART, née EAGLES)
Peacefully at Kelso Pines in the late afternoon sunshine of Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 with her beloved Gordon and her daughters beside her, a beautiful soul slipped silently away from us. Doris was determined to reach her 90th birthday and she did on May 19th. Dearest wife and companion of Gordon for 59 years. Beloved mother of Sandra ATKINSON (Ted), Mary Jane BUZZA (Gordon HAY), and Ruth MILLER (Mike.) Cherished Nana to grandchildren Christine KOSEMPEL (John), Heather ATKINSON, Tom JEWELL (Vicki), Lauren JEWELL, Doug MILLER, and Tiffany HAY and great-grandchildren A.J., Nathan, and Jordan KOSEMPEL, Wilton MILLER, and Marshall JEWELL. Predeceased by her first husband Robert STEWARD/STEWART/STUART (1945,) sister Edythe MARRON, and brother Doctor Murray EAGLES. A private family service was held, followed by cremation, with interment to be at Leith Cemetery. A reception to remember Doris and to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Predeceased by her loving friend and husband Lloyd A. TUNKS (1987,) her mother Sarah Mae MONROE (née TURNER,) her step-father William E. MONROE and her brother Kinsly MONROE. Of Guelph suddenly on Thursday February 21, 2008 at the LaPointe-Fisher Nursing Home in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late John Alexander WILLIAMSON (1964) and the late Gordon LECOURTOIS (1993.) Loving mother of Jerry and his wife Jean WILLIAMSON, JoAnn DUNN and Mary Jane and her husband Robert JOHNSTONE. Lovingly remembered by 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dear sister of Bruce CAMPBELL and sister-in-law of Zetta CARTER and Dorothy JEWELL. She was predeceased by brother's John and Alex CAMPBELL and by sisters Helen SIPLE and Etoile STERLING. Gertrude was a longtime resident of Saint Thomas and had recently moved to Guelph. The Funeral Service was held on Monday at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas. Interment followed at the Elmdale Cemetery. Loving husband of 55 years to Phyllis (WOODWARD.) Devoted father of John (Brenda,) Mary-Anne (Steve TOWER,) Richard (Robin,) Carolyn (Brent ARMSTRONG) and Catharine (Steve ROSE.) Cherished grandfather of Christine, Justin, Jennifer, Tara, Aaron, David, Colleen, Danielle, Scott, Paul, Sarah, Jordan, Adam, Deirdre and Gillian. Dear brother of Griffeth, Pauline (BELL) and the late Campbell. Tom was born on August 19, 1932 in Chatham, Ontario. Tom provided 45 years service with Canadian National Railways, 12 years as District Chairman and General Secretary Treasurer the Order of Railroad Telegraphers/ Transportation Communications Employees Union/ Brotherhood of Railway Airline Clerks. Tom was also a member of and past distinguished President of the Optimist Club Sarnia Inc. and Lt. Governor Zone 6 Southwestern Ontario Optimist 1998/1999. Of Aylmer, passed away on Tuesday, May 13th, 2008, at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 65th year. Beloved husband of Virginia (HILL) HORST and loved father of Tyler (Ruth) MATISKO, David MATISKO, Colleen (Carter) JEWELL, all of Saint Thomas, Vicki BLACKMAN (Terry) of London and Cheryl (John) CURTIS of Saint Thomas. Dear brother of Roy (Charlene) HORST of Lyons and Les (Ria) of London. Sadly missed by a number of grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Les was born in Hanover on September 18, 1943, the son of the late Fred and Hazel (ALLISON) HORST. He was retired from G.M., London. He attended the Open Door Fellowship Church, Langton and formerly the Church of the Nazarene, Saint Thomas. The family will receive Friends at their residence, 50748 Chalet Line, Aylmer on Thursday from 7-10 p.m. and then at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 2: 00 p.m. Private family interment in Fingal Cemetery. It is with great sadness that the children and sisters of Pat MEIKLE announce her death, on March 10th, 2008 in Toronto after a year-long illness. Pat was born in Montreal on February 14th, 1924 and grew up in Westmount, Québec. She graduated from Saint Paul's Academy in 1941, and from the Mother House Secretarial College in 1942. Following graduation, she took a position as legal secretary at the Montreal firm of Montgomery McMichael (now Ogilvy Renault), where she worked until her marriage to the late James Edward MEIKLE on September 18th, 1952. Pat pursued her chosen career as wife, mother and grandmother, with kindness, common sense, humour and great deal of devotion, for 56 years. She was much loved, and will be greatly missed, by her sisters Barbara MULCAIR and Sister Anne-Marie MULCAIR, CND; her children Victoria, Susan and Ross COYLES, Jamie, Heather and Adrian JOHNSON, Thomas and Melanie ROCKLIFF, Gregory and Rachel JEWELL; and her grandchildren Jamie, Gillian, Kieran, Devon, Natasha, Dunham and Jackson; and by her Friends. Victor JEWISS, a life long resident of Chatham, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at Riverview Gardens on July 17, 2008 at the age of 83. Loving husband of 63 years to Beverly (nee WEAVER.) Dear father to Elizabeth and Donald STEELE of McKinney, Texas, Catherine and Arnie RUSH of Prince George, British Columbia, Paul and Janice JEWISS of Devlin, Ontario. Proud grandfather to Sean STEELE, Charlie (Jennifer) EGLESTON, Sam EGLESTON, Lindsay (Beau) JOHNSON, Andrea JEWISS, Jennifer (Roger) STOLZ and great-grandfather to Nathan STEELE; Raven, Rhaia and Ashon EGLESTON; Eli JOHNSON, Selina Rae STOLZ. Victor will also be dearly missed by his sister in-law Gladys CLARK and niece Pauline (Tom) PAYNE and family. Predeceased by his parents Alfred and Victoria JEWISS; his 3 brothers one sister and grand_son. Victor retired in 1980 from Ontario Steel Products (Meritor). He also served for many years as a Court Constable serving in the Family and Juvenile Courts. Vic was an avid outdoorsman who spent many pleasurable days fishing and hunting small and large game. He was also a Master Hunter Education instructor. As a leather craftsman, many of his hunting buddies personally carry their rifles in his hand crafted gun cases. Many family and Friends have been on the receiving end of various handcrafted items. Vic was a veteran of the Second World War serving with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve from 1942-1945. He was better known for his association with the militia-first the Kent Regiment as a boy bugler and then after was part of the Bugle Band. When the Kents amalgamated with the Essex Scottish and became the Essex and Kent Scots he served with them for many years. Vic ended his army days with the 59 Legion Highlander Cadet Corps where he served his last 4 years before retirement as the C.O. He was the R.S.O. for Cadets training at Camp Ipperwash for several years. During his early retirement years Vic was a Big Brother to 3 little brothers. He is the first life member of this organization. Vic was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the Chatham Sertoma Club, Royal Canadian Legion Br 28., Royal Canadian Navy Association, Hospitaller Order of Saint_John of Jerusalem (London Commandery), the Southwestern Ontario Longbeards Association (Turkey Federation) and a life member of the Essex and Kent Scottish Regimental Association. Family and Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street Chatham, Ontario 519-351-2040 on Sunday from 2: 00 to 4:30 p.m. and and 7: 00-9:00 p.m. A Naval Association service will take place at 3: 30 p.m. Sunday and a Legion service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held on Monday July 21, 2008 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church 81 Selkirk Street, Chatham at 10 a.m. Rev. Peacefully at Saint Marys Memorial Hospital, on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008. Dorothy E. (KASTNER) HOOPER in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Harold E. HOOPER (2002.) Loving mother of Jane DUCK of Toronto and Catherine HOOPER of Guelph and a dear mother-in-law of the late Fred DUCK. Cherished Nanny of John DUCK and his wife Aileen of Hamilton, Alix DUCK of Toronto. She is fondly remembered by a niece Doris and a nephew Edgar. She is predeceased by her parents Harrison KASTNER and the former Leila McMASTER. Resting at the L.A. Ball Funeral Chapel, 7 Water St. N., Saint Marys on Wednesday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Pirie MITCHELL officiating. A reception will follow. In her memory donations to Saint Marys Memorial Hospital Foundation or the A.L.S. Society (cheques payable to Doctor Lorne Zinman - A.L.S. Research, A.L.S.
