Passed away April 21, 2008 at his home in Kitchener. Lovingly cared for in his final weeks by his children: Valerie (Rick) TURNER, Bonnie (Rod) DOUGHERTY, Laurie Burke (Gary) VERBAAS, Helena (Bob) CAMPBELL, Nancy BURK/BURKE (Ernie,) Vince and Charlie BURK/BURKE (Barbara.) Survived by his life friend, Blanche (HUBACHECK) BURK/BURKE, his siblings Vivian (Jerry) LAPENSEE, Gladys (Alex) MUISE, Eleta (Robert) THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, Mavis (Bill) HAMILTON, Kenneth (Betty,) Mary (Roger) PARENT, Stephen (Jackie), Ruth, Shirley (Robert) WALKER and Joan. Remembered with a smile as a one-of-a-kind grandpa by his thirteen grandchildren, Christopher, Steven (Niki), Shawna, Brett, Elizabeth, Cameron, Michael, Patrick, Nick, Lauren, Anna, Katie and Marshall. Pre-deceased by his infant daughter Leslie Ann (1963,) his parents William and Esther (CAMERON,) his brothers Edmond, Arthur (Bea), Harold, Ronald (Sheila) and his sister Dorothea (Stan) COLBRAN. The BURK/BURKE children thank Doctor BLOOMFIELD, Dr. KONTAKOS and Nurse Joan for their care and kindness to our dad. At Howard's request, there is no memorial service. Cremation has taken place.

In loving memory of Annie Lauretta VAN HORN, March 20, 1929 - January 19, 2008.
Annie VAN HORN, a resident of Little Current, died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the age of 78 years.
She was born at Elizabeth Bay, daughter of the late William and Rebecca HUBBARD) RUSSELL. Annie had worked in the kitchen at the Little Current Hospital for many years. She enjoyed country music, and liked to go to community events and community dinners. She was often seen driving her car and she loved to shop. She will be sadly missed in her community. Annie was predeceased by her husband Stuart VAN HORN in 1966. She is survived by her loving brother Melvin RUSSELL of Elizabeth Bay and sister Marie STEVENS, husband Hugh of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and sister in law Elaine RUSSELL, (husband Teasdale predeceased) of Massey. Predeceased by sister Lizzie WITTY. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay on Tuesday from 12 - 1 pm. The funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 1 pm with Pastor Erwin THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON officiating. Spring interment in Silver Lake Cemetery. Went home to be with her Lord on January 11, 2008 in Red Deer General Hospital, Alberta at the age of 82. Velma was born on her father's farm in Sunnidale Township, Ontario on Saturday July 11, 1925. She was the youngest of 7 children born to William and Eliza FISHER. She attended the 12th Line school and graduated in 1943 from Marvel School of Hair Design in Toronto. She married Harry MARTIN on February 22, 1947 and they were blessed with 4 children and almost 50 years of Marriage. They built their home in Wasaga Beach in 1950 where Mom established Martin's Hairstyling and Dad, Martin's Camping which they operated until 1975. She accepted Christ as her Saviour in 1964. Her Bible was her constant companion (even taking it to the Beach) and her passion was sharing her faith and praying for others. She leaves to rejoice in a life rich in faith, Sharon (Gordon) QUANTZ of Didsbury, Alberta, Jim (Basia) MARTIN of Okotoks, Alberta, Sheilah (Don) LINDOFF, Red Deer, Alberta, and Rebecca (Ron) Wasaga Beach, Ontario, she will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Sharla (Jason) HUBBARD, Trevor (Julie) QUANTZ, Roger (Teresa) QUANTZ, Liza (Jared) STIMSON, Scott (Gina) MARTIN, Joseph (Jacquelin) MARTIN, Jordon, Breton and Courtney LINDOFF, Joshua (Carrie) BELL, Matthew (Amanda) BELL, Sherah (Alex) PERRY, Shiloh and Josiah BELL, and 11 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Ainsley and Eden HUBBARD, Isaiah and Emma QUANTZ, Clay, Cole and Blake MARTIN, Gabriel, Jacob and Jericho MARTIN. Passed away peacefully at the Forest Heights Long Term Care Centre, Kitchener on Friday, May 30, 2008 at the age of 84 years. Beloved husband of 61 years to Corinne (née BERNOSKI.) Loving father of Dianne (Ken) McDOUGALL of Guelph and Robert (Mary) HUBER of London. He will be remembered by his grandchildren, Shawna PAUL, Geoffrey HUBER (Heidi SHERWOOD) and Gwendolyn HUBER. Dear brother of Anna, Rita and Sister Gertrude. Predeceased by his parents, Simon and Anne HUBER, brothers, George, Magnus, Joseph, Jerome and sisters, Mary and Barbara. Simon and his brother, Jerome were partners in Huber Homes Ltd., in the K-W area for many years. He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus, Waterloo Council #5135 and, after retirement, in Kincardine. Simon loved hunting, fishing, horseshoe playing, bowling and card games. His grandchildren share his love of the outdoors and will always have fond memories and continue the legacy. Humble and quietly proud veteran of World War 2 (Royal Canadian Air Force)
Peacefully in the arms of his wife, at the Kingston General Hospital, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer, on Thursday, December 20, 2007. Peter HUBERT, in his 83rd year, beloved husband of Susan (THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON,) for 39 years. Missed by his sisters, Mary PENNER of Waterloo and Wanda TRAUTMAN of Kitchener. Also missed by Sue's family, brother Tom THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON (Rose) of Barrie, sister Sandra THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON of Vancouver, sister Margo DURKIN (Doug) of Owen Sound and brother Bill THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON (Kathleen) of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Also fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and their families, as well as his many caring Friends in Bath, Aurora and Owen Sound. Special thanks to Doctor STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and Doctor TOMIAK for their continuing compassion. In keeping with Peter's wishes, cremation will be immediate. STAFFORD, Betty Jean (HUBERT)
Of Saint Thomas passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008, at the Leamington District Memorial Hospital, in her 85th year. Betty succumbed to complications after her surgery of January 1, 2008. Betty was the beloved wife of the late Harold STAFFORD (January 18, 2005) and loved and cherished mother of John STAFFORD of LaSalle and Robert STAFFORD of Kingsville. She was loved by daughter-in-laws Barbara and Karin as well as John's special friend, Cheryl. Much loved grandmother of Erin and Lauren and dear sister of Don and his wife Betty HUBERT of Saint Thomas and the late Bill HUBERT. Special aunt of Brian, Dianne, Linda, Susan, David and Brenda. Betty was born in Saint Thomas on October 26, 1923 and was a graduate of Saint Thomas Collegiate Institute. After graduating at age 16 she intended to work briefly at Bell Canada before attending university (at age 18). She instead would have a long and fulfilling career as a supervisor with Bell Canada. After taking time off to raise her family, she would work at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on switchboard and reception. Numerous of her close and cherished Friends would come from her workplaces and she was thankful to enjoy many of these Friendships to the present. Betty had the good fortune to enjoy excellent health for most of her life and one of her greatest joys and pleasures was to be able to travel the world extensively with family and Friends. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas is in charge of arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held at Williams Funeral Home on Sunday March 2, 2008 at 2: 00 p.m. with social hour to follow. Cremation has taken place, with a future private interment of ashes in Elmdale Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, with remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or Animal Aide.

HUBERT, Leslie George
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie George HUBERT on Sunday, June 1 at the age of 76. Born in Bexleyheath, England on November 11, 1931, he immigrated to Canada at a young age, arriving first in Nova Scotia and moving with his new bride to London, Ontario in 1949, where he worked for Loblaws for more than 30 years and took to his new home with enthusiasm, becoming an avid photographer, golfer and outdoorsman, with a special affection for Algonquin Park. Devoted husband to Arlene and father to Gary, Penny (wife of Mike YECK,) Deborah, Cindy, Frank and Rick; proud grandfather to Heather, Diane, John, Steven, Nathan and Trevor; and great-grandfather to Shawn. Survived by 2 sisters, Christine COOKE and Frances HILTZ, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and England. The family would like to express its gratitude to Wayne Ball, Frank Dores, Bob Lamb, Butch Lucas, Larry Shaw and Ken Twilley for their enduring Friendship and support. DALY, Richard Arthur Jr.
Richard Arthur DALY Jr. (Dick) passed away at age 94 on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Sunnybrook Veterans Care Centre. son of Richard Arthur and Katherine Cullen DALY. He attended Upper Canada College and University of Toronto, University College and belonged to Theta Delta Chi fraternity. During World War 2, Dick volunteered and served as an officer overseas with the Kangaroos Armored Personnel Carriers. After the war, he returned to Canada with the love of his life, his French bride, Genvieve HUBERT. Dick and Genvieve were married 62 years. After their marriage, he joined R.A. Daly and Company as a stockbroker, executive, and later served as president. Dick was an active member of the Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, the Toronto Golf Club, the Granite Club, the National Club, the Arts and Letters Club, the Ticker Club, and the Ahmic Lake Golf Club. Dick spent summers with his family at Ahmic Lake (Magnetawan), and enjoyed many winter vacations in Florida at the Hillsboro Club and later Boca Grande. Dick will be lovingly remembered by his wife Genevieve, his brother Tom, and his sister Katherine CASHMORE. Dick was the beloved father of Michelle and her husband Peter MORAWETZ; Patrick and his wife Sarah. Much loved 'Papa' of grandchildren Barbara and her husband Dave DEPEW, Denis, Zoe and David, and of great-grandchildren Alex and Jillian. Dick will also be missed by his attentive caregivers, Desma, Ernestina, Sam, and the staff and owners of Integra Care. In addition, Dick's family thanks the caring staff at Sunnybrook K3C.
The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East) where a funeral will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 10: 30 a.m., followed by a reception in the Leaside Room. Passed away with great courage in his 83rd year on Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 at Seaforth Community Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his family and Friends. Devoted father to his 4 daughters Judy (Meaford), Sarah (Seaforth), Patricia (Walkerton) and Jane (Florida). Survived by his wife Patricia. Proud grandfather of Andrea and Kathryn who cherished their Papa. Also survived by sisters Helen ELLERINGTON (London,) Anne JOYNT (Toms' River, New Jersey) and Jane (Bev) DEKAY (London). Brothers Bev (Burdine) (Exeter). Predeceased by Grant (Joan) (St. Louis, Michigan). He was a proud Royal Canadian Air Force Veteran, he enlisted at age 16 and trained in Manitoba as a wireless air gunner and navigator. He graduated from the University of Guelph, (Ontario Agricultural College-50), B.Sca. Poultry Husbandry. He was well known across Middlesex and Huron Counties for his work with Ralston Purina as District Sales Manager for almost 25 years. He then lived out his dream, farming and racing horses in Seabringville for 20 years. Retiring to Meaford. The last 7 years he has lived in Seaforth making lots of Friends and acting as a "Pillar" of Sarah's life. He will be remembered for his love of life, people, politics, farming and horse racing. He was truly a magnanimous human being as he spent a lifetime helping others. Cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes will be in Egmondville. A Memorial Service will be held for family and Friends to celebrate his life on Friday, April 18th, 2008 at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Seaforth. Rev. Henry HUBERTS will officiate.
