Leny's beloved husband and our beloved pa, passed away on Sunday,
May 25, 2008 at the age of 74 years. Pa will be lovingly remembered

PEEREN of Eindhoven,
Holland, Robert (Jackie) of Kingston, Ontario, Sergeant Anthony
(Margaret) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Lucas of Summerland, seven
grandchildren; Tyler, Kyle, Chelsea, Graeme, Kristopher, Mark
Jr., and Sarah, siblings, Willy, Mieke of Penticton, Dientje,
Gerard, Toos all of Holland and Jetje of California, U.S.A. Harry
was born in Arnhem, Holland on October 5, 1933. He spent his
youth in Utrecht and Eindhoven where he met and fell in love
with Leny. They married and moved to Canada in 1956, living first
in London, Ontario, where they raised six children, then in 1979
they moved their family to Penticton. Penticton was pa's paradise.
He spent his happiest years here, building his home, playing
golf at the Summerland Golf and Country club, walking his Samoyeds
in the mountains. If you live on Wiltse Flats, you would know
pa. He walked there every day with his big white dog and had
a kind word for everyone he met. Pa had his favourite walks to
the "poppy tree' to "the throne" and to the dam. Pa marvelled
at the views and the beauty of the Okanagan Valley. He taught
us to find happiness in the simple things. For pa, waking up
in the morning meant it was going to be a good day. Pa loved
us and we never doubted that. We were his pride and joy. Mom
was (quite simply) his life. Their love was classic, easy and
beautiful. Prayers will be held, 7: 00 p.m. Thursday, May 29,
2008 followed by a Funeral Mass 11: 00 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2008
from Saint Ann's Catholic Church, 1296 Main Street, Penticton,
British Columbia. V2A 5G2 with Father Pat Monette celebrant,
with a gathering in the church hall afterwards. Everyone who
knew pa is welcome to join us. Pa never liked the colour black,
so we kindly ask that you wear casual, colourful attire. The
family would like to give their thanks to the Penticton Regional
Hospital staff, Doctor Hedges and especially to nurses Kathy and
Michelle from the second floor. Donations in Harry's memory may
be made to the Canadian Alzheimer Society if Friends so desire.
