Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, February 13, 2008, Florena Frances MATTICE in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Donald George MATTICE (July 9, 1995.) Loving mother of Jane BABCOCK (Richard). Ronald MATTICE, Donna Marie WHITING (Fred), Wayne MATTICE (Tammy SAMETZ,) late Margaret Frances SAWYER (Howard,) Barbara Anne SWAN, Martha Nancy MATTICE (Adrian). William Alfred MATTICE (Marcia), Donald Alvin MATTICE (Debbie) and Lillian Florena Lee HATCH (Kevin.) Florena is survived by her 38 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by 2 brothers, 4 sisters and many nieces and nephews. December 28, 2007, loving and beloved wife of the late Terence SHEARD, C.B.E., Q.C., (1985.) Dear twin sister of the late Joan HATCH (H. Clifford HATCH d.,) daughter of the late Kathleen and Ezra Garth FERRISS of Walkerville, Ontario. Proud and cherished aunt of Clifford HATCH (Sylvie), Gail TODGHAM (Doug), Mary HATCH, and Richard HATCH (Patti.) She was the loving great aunt of Diane HATCH (Chris NAUDIE), Aurelie BRYCE (Doug), Clifford HATCH (Amanda), Anne and Paul TODGHAM (Mary Anne), Elizabeth and Michael STEPHENS, Johanna and Kristofer HATCH. Dearest friend of Helen PERREN. The family extends its thanks to Rolyne GALLARDO and Ella CAPUYAN for dedicated care during the past twenty-one months. After graduating from Walkerville Collegiate, Gail enrolled in University College, University of Toronto, where she won a Reuben Wells Leonard scholarship. She graduated in 1937 with an Honours B.A. in Modern Languages alongside her beloved twin sister Joan. Her business career included advertising, script-writing, and promotion in Toronto and Ottawa. Following her marriage to Terence SHEARD in 1950, Gail enjoyed an active life as a volunteer, serving 42 years as a member of the Volunteer Committee of the Art Gallery of Ontario, including 22 years as a docent in the adult education program. Gail was a member of the University Club of Toronto, and an Honorary Life member of Rosedale Golf Club, (where she was both Captain and President of the Ladies' section.) Gail SHEARD was a Founder Member of the Art Gallery of Ontario, and a Lifetime Member of King's College Circle, University of Toronto. Funeral services will be held at St. Simon-The-Apostle Anglican Church, 525 Bloor Street E. at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2008, followed by burial in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. The family invites Friends to a reception at Rosedale Golf Club, 1901 Mt. Pleasant Rd. immediately following. Roger had a distinguished career in the synthetic rubber and potash industries and served as a director of many companies around the world. Funeral Service will be held in the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue, on Monday, June 9th at one o'clock. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Sarnia. Predeceased by parents Samuel Tuffin and Lillian Janet (CAVEN) HATHAWAY and brothers Em, Howe, Murray, and Elmer (Charlie.) Reg passed away on February 28, 2008 at his home in London, in his 85th year. For more than 80 years, Reg lived in Melbourne where he and Aileen built and operated a successful trucking and fuel oil delivery business until he retired. Reg proudly supported the community: serving in various positions at the Melbourne United Church, and Dufferin Masonic Lodge #364, and was instrumental in the building of the Townline Terrace Apartments. He served many years on the Caradoc Township Council (councilor and reeve) and Melbourne Volunteer Fire Department. Reg was also proud to be a Shriner's "Roadrunner". Family and Friends will be received at Elliott Madill Funeral Home, 22424 Adelaide Road, Mount Brydges, on Sunday, March 2nd from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 6: 30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Melbourne United Church, 592 John Street, Melbourne, on Monday, March 3rd, from 12: 30 followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Gwen dedicated herself to caring for others through her many years of work with the Red Cross. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

HATTON, Wing Cmdr. Frank Hatton D.F.C., C.D., Royal Canadian Air Force, Retired
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Frank HATTON on Friday, March 14, 2008. He was in his 92nd year. Frank was born and raised in Toronto. He left Canada to join the Royal Air Force as a pilot in 1937, and in 1943, transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he served until his retirement in 1965. He and his wife Claire (GODIN) moved to Cedar Springs in 1967, where he worked for the Ontario Government as Personnel Director at the Southwestern Regional Centre until 1977. Claire died in 1992 and is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim. Frank married Thelma FLUM in 1993 and they have resided in Blenheim until this time. A true gentleman, Frank served his country with distinction and was devoted to his family. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife Thelma HATTON, daughter Mary Frances and Joe SHEEHAN of Toronto, daughter Ruth HATTON of Belleville, son John HATTON and Maureen WALSH of London, son Robert HATTON and Caro CLARKE of Erie Beach, son Christopher HATTON and Linda KENYON of Waterloo and step-daughter Jacqueline RAY of Chatham. Proud grandfather of Andrea, Alex, Elizabeth, Jessica, Jake, T.J., Sarah, Laura, Patrick, and Philip. After a valiant battle with cancer on Sunday January 20, 2008 at the General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood in her 58th year. Gwen of Wasaga Beach, loving mother of Tammy and her husband Jeff WHITE/WHYTE of Walkerton and Cara HARDING of Wasaga Beach. Cherished Nanny of Kyla, Madison and Joshua. Dear sister of Maurine WILSON. Favorite aunt of Christopher (Andrea) FISCHER, Cathy (Randy GOHEEN) and Heidi (Jason GREEN.) Gwen dedicated herself to caring for others through her many years of work with the Red Cross. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. HATTON, Wing Cmdr. Frank, D.F.C., C.D., Royal Canadian Air Force, Retired
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Frank HATTON on Friday, March 14, 2008. He was in his 92nd year. Frank was born and raised in Toronto. He left Canada to join the Royal Air Force as a pilot in 1937, and in 1943, transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he served until his retirement in 1965. He and his wife Claire (GODIN) moved to Cedar Springs in 1967, where he worked for the Ontario Government as Personnel Director at the Southwestern Regional Centre until 1977. Claire died in 1992 and is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim. Frank married Thelma FLUM in 1993 and they have resided in Blenheim until this time. A true gentleman, Frank served his country with distinction and was devoted to his family. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife Thelma HATTON, daughter Mary Frances and Joe SHEEHAN of Toronto, daughter Ruth HATTON of Belleville, son John HATTON and Maureen WALSH of London, son Robert HATTON and Caro CLARKE of Erie Beach, son Christopher HATTON and Linda KENYON of Waterloo and step-daughter Jacqueline RAY of Chatham. Proud grandfather of Andrea, Alex, Elizabeth, Jessica, Jake, T.J., Sarah, Laura, Patrick, and Philip. SMITH, James Douglas
(April 5th 1921-April 14th 2008)
Peacefully at Toronto Western Hospital with his family at his side after a brief illness. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Ada SMITH and brother John Francis Caulfield SMITH and wife Jean Boyd SMITH. Survived by his loving wife Margaret Beth Helene (Betty) SMITH (née HATTON,) and adoring sister Mary Katherine (Molly) SMITH. Loving father to J. Bradley SMITH and daughter-in-law Patricia C. PARKIN. Grampa to loving grand_son Adrian James Parkin SMITH. Doug was born and raised in Barrie, Ontario and served his country as a naval officer during World War 2. Following the War he married his childhood sweetheart Betty, completed his civil engineering studies at University of Toronto and joined James F. MacLaren Limited where he advanced through the executive ranks and remained until his retirement. Throughout his life Doug demonstrated a degree of respect for all he encountered and patience not common amongst his peers. In retrospect, he consistently gave back more than he accepted, a quality to be truly admired. A funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 18th at Glenview Presbyterian Church (Glenview Avenue at Yonge Street), at 2: 00 o'clock.
