Passed away suddenly at home on Saturday May 10, 2008. Diane Mary HAID (née DUNN) of Wasaga Beach, in her 76th year. Beloved wife of Roy HAID. Loving mother of Donna (Vern) DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS of Peterborough and Lorna (Sam) BARTUCCI of St Albert, Alberta. cherished grandmother of Ryan, Jonathan, Emily, Kelly (Phillip) and Chris (Susan). Dear sister of Bert (Helga) DUNN of Caledon. Will be sadly missed by Friends Joe, Sylvia and family. Diane will also be missed by her dearly loved nieces, Friends and neighbours. At Dufferin Oaks Nursing Home in Shelburne on Wednesday June 25, 2008. The former Florence KAY, predeceased by her beloved husband Norman Irvin HUTHART (February 23, 1989,) formerly of Thornbury, at the age of 97. Loved mother of Jo and her husband Tony LAGUNA of Coral Springs, Florida; and John HUTHART and his partner Ann WILDMAN of Caledon. Sadly missed grandmother and great-grandmother of Juan LAGUNA (Shawn) of Redlands, California; Alex (Darlene) LAGUNA and their children A.J., Jake and Max of Orlando, Florida and Sue LAGUNA- WHANG (Jimmy) and their children Julian and Alexandria of Charlotte, North Carolina. Funeral services, officiated by Reverend Canon Stephen HAIG, will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home, The Valley Chapel, 20 Alice St. E. in Thornbury on Saturday, June 28 at 3 o'clock. Family will receive Friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Toronto Humane Society would be appreciated. A family service of committal and interment of Florence's cremated remains will be conducted at Thornbury-Clarksburg Union Cemetery at a later date.

LANNIGAN, Robert, M.D., F.R.C.P.C.
Peacefully in his sleep at Parkwood Hospital, London Ontario. Survived by his beloved and devoted wife Rena, his son and daughter-in-law Robert and Kathryn, grandchildren, Heather, Darragh and Julie and three sisters, Elizabeth, Jean, Margaret and sister-in-law Margaret HAIG. Robert was born in Wishaw, Scotland in 1922. Graduated from Wishaw High School and then attended Glasgow University where he studied medicine. After graduating he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps in the Middle East and on his return continued his medical training in Pathology. Through his long and illustrious academic career he worked in Departments of Pathology in Birmingham, England and Belfast, Northern Ireland. During those years he had the opportunity on two occasions to study in Chicago one year as a Fullbright scholar and another as a visiting professor. Wherever he was, he made lifelong Friendships with those he worked with. In 1969 he moved to the University of Calgary to be head of Pathology at the newly constituted Medical School where he remained until he retired. During his career he obtained a PhD from Birmingham University and a D.Sc. from Glasgow. His contributions in the fields of cardiac and renal pathology were recognized worldwide. He moved to London, Ontario, after his retirement, to be closer to his family. His enthusiastic love of life and learning inspired all who knew him. To the end of his life he was a voracious reader; there was no subject that did not spark his interest. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed. Thanks to Paramed for the wonderful home care he received and also to the staff of the palliative care units at the London Health Sciences Centre and Parkwood Hospital. A memorial service will take place at the Metropolitan United Church, 468 Wellington Street, London, Ontario on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 2: 00 p.m. Donations for those who wish to the Salvation Army or Mission Services will be gratefully acknowledged. Peacefully at home on February 28, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer, E. Gord COOPER passed away at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Betty, predeceased by his first wife Retta (née COX) and his great-grand_son, little baby Matthew. Father of Catherine (James), Wayne (Linda), Louise (Steve), Karen (Bob), and Sylvia (Chris.) Stepfather of Mary Jo (Wayne) STONE and Kim HAIGHT. Grandfather "Bubba" to 15 grandchildren and to 6 great-grandchildren. Brother to Violet WATTON and the late George COOPER. Gord enjoyed a lifelong passion for music. He joined the Police Boys Band as a young teenager and later conducted his own band, "The Gordon Cooper Orchestra". He then continued on to join the Mocha Shrine Trumpet Band and several other bands throughout his life. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, 1559 Fanshawe Park Rd. E. (east of Highbury) on Sunday, March 2, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 12 p.m. with the service at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Predeceased by her beloved husband Daws (Gordon Stuart DAWSON) of 65 years. Dear mother of her 4 sons Gord and Lynn, Sandy (Doug) and Linda, Al and Shirley, and Bruce and Kat. Dear sister of Ila HAIGHT (and Don) and predeceased by her 3 brothers Jim (late Bertha), Len (Lillian,) and Jack (late Marie) STRATTON. Also loved by her 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. DAWSON was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Orpha). Died in her sleep Friday morning, July 25, 2008 in her 101st year. She was predeceased by her first husband Wilfred B. McNICHOL in 1968, and in the year 2000, by her second husband, Doctor Cecil W. HAIN. She is deeply mourned by her beloved niece, Joy BENNER and her husband David of Port Colborne, by her great-nephew Peter BENNER, of Killaloe, by her step-son Douglas HAIN and her step-grand_son Gordon (Geordi) HAIN of Toronto, and her husband's nephew Norman HAIN of Ottawa. Betty had been a resident at Sunrise Assisted Living in Oakville for four years during which the staff provided her with devoted care. For many years she was an active member of Victoria-Royce Presbyterian Church in Toronto. A Service to Celebrate her Life will be held at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere Ave., east of Jane subway, on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 3 p.m. with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Penetanguishene, Ontario. RISK, Melville Angus
At Grey Gables, Thursday, April 3, 2008. Melville Angus RISK of Markdale passed away in his 79th year. He was the beloved husband of Berneice (MOWER) and dear father of Larry RISK (Tanya) and David RISK (Ruthanne) all of Markdale. Grandfather of Michael (Leslie) of Nova Scotia and Matthew of Markdale. Step-grandfather of Luke, Shelby and Kaely and step-great-grandfather of Ethan and Cameron. He will be sadly missed by brother Manley RISK (Ladema) of Markdale and sister Jean GORDON of Meaford. Predeceased by parents Clifford and Blanche RISK, infant brother John and brother-in-law Lloyd GORDON.
The family received Friends at the May Funeral Home, Markdale on Sunday afternoon and evening, where Rev. Mark WAUGH officiated at a funeral service held Monday, April 7 at 1: 00 p.m.
Tanya RISK shared remembrances and gave an eulogy Music under the direction of David FRIES included the congregational hymns "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and "How Great Thou Art". Favourite song selections played on CD were "The Lord's Prayer" by John McDERMOTT and "Wait A Minute" by Alan JACKSON.
Pallbearers were Matthew RISK, Shawn VAN SICKLE, Paul GORDON, Alan GORDON, Luke ROBISON and Ab HAINES. Calvin HUTCHINSON/HUTCHISON, Ed HAINES and Vernon BOWHEY served as honourary pallbearers. Marsha GORDON, Ruthanne RISK, Tanya RISK and Shelley VAN SICKLE carried floral tributes. Interment in Markdale Cemetery.
Memorial donations were directed to Annesley United Church, Centre Grey Health Services Foundation and the Kidney Foundation. Following the service relatives and Friends joined the family at Annesley Fellowship Hall for refreshments provided by the Annesley Women's Ministry Network.

Peacefully at Longworth Long Term Care, London, Ontario, on June 19th, 2008, Florence Underwood McFARLANE (LAIDLAW) of London, formerly of Chatsworth, Ontario, in her 90th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Melville (1995). Florence was a loving Mother to her children Nancy and Wayne PEARCE of Exeter, Myrna and Bernie FISHMAN of Owen Sound, Janice and Bert DE GROOT of London and Bill McFARLANE and Jill HAINES of Owen Sound. She will always be in the hearts of her grandchildren Marnie, Steven, Andrea and Craig, Jason and Lindsey, Joel and Kathryn, Melissa and Terry, Chris and Laura and Sara and Jake. She will be missed by her great-grandchildren Jemima, Eli, Garrett, Luke, Spencer, Luci and Rylie. Predeceased by her sisters Pauline and Jane and brother Bill and survived by her brother Cam and Jane LAIDLAW of Toronto. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Florence was a determined woman whose grace and strength were an inspiration to her family and those who knew her. She never gave up or complained in spite of significant challenges, and always greeted everyone with her gentle smile. The family will always be grateful to Longworth for ensuring that Florence lived her life with dignity. She was loved by the staff and residents at Longworth, especially her dear friend Phyllis, and friend Pauline MAHER of Owen Sound. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 12: 00 noon, United Church Cemetery, Chatsworth, Ontario. Passed peacefully at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton, Friday, June 27, 2008 with his wife and his children at his bedside, in his 81st year. Orland VENNARD of Port Elgin, loving husband of 56 years to Jean VENNARD (CAMPBELL,) cherished father and mentor to Rob of Port Elgin, Jamie (Tracy) and Mari all of Kitchener and Lanny (Jack) BINGHAM of Port Elgin. He will be deeply missed for his sense of humour by his 8 grandchildren; Rachel and Daniel VENNARD, Nyssa FINDLAY and Carter VENNARD, Brooke, Bailey, Brie and Ken BINGHAM. Beloved little brother of Margaret GIBBONS of Owen Sound. Predeceased by his sisters Dorothy McKILLOP and Grace WILLIAMSON. He will be fondly remembered by his niece Daryl GIBBONS of Owen Sound and his nephew Rob CAMPBELL of Vancouver as well as dear Friends Charlie HAINES, Ed ROSNER and Tom CALEY. It was Orland's request that there be no funeral service. There will be a graveside memorial service for family and Friends at a later date. Peacefully with family at Marian Villa, her home for the past six years. - Jean was predeceased by her brother Patrick, her sisters Margaret, Helen, Francis, and Antoinette. Jean is the beloved Aunt of Randa and Don, (London) Mary and Bob, Bill, Helen Claire, Bob, Richard Patricia and Michael (Toronto Area). Jean will be remembered lovingly by many grand-nieces and nephews and several great-grand-nieces and nephews. Jean embraced life with optimism, humour, curiosity, hard work, and feistiness. She generously shared her time and herself. Jean was deeply committed to her family and Friends and to her Catholic Faith. Her personal qualities, her faith, her lifelong connections with family and Friends helped her live a full life in a silent world. Due to a childhood illness Jean was profoundly deaf since age seven years. With impaired eye sight in her senior years Jean welcomed help from the deaf/blind branch of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind There will be a celebration of Jean's life at 12: 00 noon on Friday March 7 in the Mount Hope Auditorium 21 Grosvenor St. There will be a Funeral Mass at 2: 00 at St. George's Catholic Church, 1164 Commissioners Road West followed by interment at Saint Peter's Cemetery. Nell was predeceased by her siblings Neil CURRIE, Ethel FINNIGAN and Anne HAINES. Dear Grandmother to Pam, Wendy, Kylee, Tracy, Cindy, Michael, Evelyn, Gwen and Conrad. Predeceased by her beloved husband Melville (1995). Florence was a loving mother to her children Nancy and Wayne PEARCE of Exeter, Myrna and Bernie FISHMAN of Owen Sound, Janice and Bert DEGROOT of London and Bill McFARLANE and Jill HAINES of Owen Sound. She will always be in the hearts of her grandchildren Marnie; Steven, Andrea and Craig; Jason and Lindsey; Joel and Kathryn; Melissa and Terry and Chris and Laura; Sara and Jake. She will be missed by her great-grandchildren Jemima, Eli, Garrett, Luke, Spencer, Luci and Rylie. Dear sister of Cam and Jane LAIDLAW. Florence was a determined woman whose grace and strength were an inspiration to her family and those who knew her. She never gave up or complained in spite of significant challenges and always greeted everyone with her gentle smile. During her five years at Longworth she received exemplary and compassionate care. Florence loved the staff who cared for her, the volunteers who visited her and especially her dear friend Phyllis and fellow residents. JONES, Reverend Doctor James David
Died at North Bay on Thursday March 27th, 2008 at the age of 44. The beloved husband of Katherine (née MARSHALL,) David was the dear son of Rev. James Peter and Mrs. Dorothy JONES of Brockville. He is also survived by his step-children Mark (Sandra) of Honduras, and their children Luke and Katherine, Kristin HAINES (Brooks) of Chicago, and Kaitlin DRISCOLL of Buffalo, his brother Peter (Carman,) nephew Peter MICHAEL of the Canary Islands, and grandmother Sarah CHRISTIE of Dalhousie, N.B.
A graduate of McGill, he received his Masters degree and Doctorate at Princeton. Ordained in the Presbyterian Church in 1990, he ministered in Scarborough and Brockville before coming to North Bay. He was also a Captain of the Black Watch. A funeral service, reflecting David's belief in the Easter Faith was held in Calvin Presbyterian Church in North Bay on Monday March 31st, 2008. David's ashes will be spread in Metis sur Mer, Québec. following a memorial service at Little Metis Presbyterian Church on Sunday July 13th, 2008. With great sadness, the family advises of the passing of Osborne Ross (Sonny) TOTTEN of London, peacefully at Parkwood Veterans Hospital on Wednesday, March 5th, 2008. Predeceased by his beloved wife Vivian (née DOAN) and his sisters Margaret HARPER of Ottawa and Madeline HAINSTOCK of Vancouver. Father of Ross and Joan TOTTEN of London, Bill TOTTEN of Edmonton, and special friend of Dianne DRISCOLL and her husband Jim of Kelowna, British Columbia. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a large extended family. Born in Forest, Ontario on December 11th, 1914, he loved his country and served it with distinction in World War 2. After the war Sonny served with the federal Department of Agriculture and went on to be a successful Insurance agent and businessman in Forest. Sonny's passing will leave a void in the lives of many who were touched by his kindness and generosity. Sonny was a past Mayor of Forest; past president and life member of the Forest Legion, Br. #176 and past president of the Forest Rotary club as well as coach and supporter of many sports teams in the Forest area. The family wishes to extend their extreme gratitude to the staff of Parkwood Hospital for their caring and devotion to dad, especially in the past few weeks. A celebration of life will be held at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at Parkwood Hospital (please use parking lot #3), 801 Commissioners Rd. Passed away March 9th in Toronto in her 88th year. Mom embraced caregivers, Friends and family with love and laughter. Her innate caring, graciousness, beauty, and sense of humour prevailed over the effects of Alzheimers and stroke, as did her love of music and joy in song. Predeceased by her loving husband, John Edwin (Jack), and survived by her daughters Barbara and Catherine, sister Elma HELGASON, and sisters-in-law Fern and Vera GUDLAUGSON. Beloved sister of the late Martha (Jack), Oscar, Len, Hale (Folace) and Clarence, and sister-in-law of the late Bob (Estelle), Wallace (Peggy) HAIRE, and Chris HELGASON. Youngest child of Icelandic immigrants Olina JONSDOTTIR and Magus GUDLAUGSON, Ethel was born on a homestead near Clairmont, Alberta. Her musical talent emerged early, and earned her scholarships to study in Banff and in Toronto at the Royal Conservatory. She established a successful performing and teaching career, sharing her love of music with many students. Ethel supported her husband Jack through his long career with Abitibi, from where he retired as Corporate Director and Vice President Finance in 1978. She blessed our home with warmth and kindness, as well as her gift of music. Sincere thanks to her caregivers who sustained her with a loving and supportive environment. She will be missed by Cecille, Cathy, Esther, Gloria, Glenn, and Fatima. Thanks also to Judith, Evangeline, Louise, and Louis, to Barbara whose craniosacral treatments helped prolong her quality of life, and to her medical team.
