CORRIGAN,
Rita
Peacefully, with her sisters, at her home in Toronto on Friday,
March 7, 2008 at the age of 85. Beloved daughter of the late
Patrick and Helena
CORRIGAN; sister to Raymond (Ruth deceased,)
Basil, Regina, Sister Lucille, CND; aunt to 5 nieces and
nephews and 7 grand-nieces and nephews. Retired longtime Canadian
National Railway employee and dedicated defender of its employees
through the Canadian Brotherhood of Railway Transport and General
Workers; neighbour to countless thousands with whom she interacted
over a long lifespan as a volunteer with the Legion of Mary,
the Redemptorist missionaries, the St. Vincent de Paul Society
and in the last 20 years the Toronto East General Hospital Pastoral
Team. When she knew that her own life was shortened, she volunteered
for clinical trial at Princess Margaret Hospital, so that her
loss might help others. Special thanks to Elizabeth
HAEBERMAN
of Community Care Access Centre G9 for coordinating caring service
to Rita and the family; her team of professionals and the neighbours
who helped me, made it possible for Rita to be at home. Friends
are invited to gather at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11 for the
Mass of the Resurrection at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 520 Sherbourne
Street, south of Bloor. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
