BRUIN, Dorothy (née VERNON)
Of Wiarton and formerly of Lion's head passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2008 in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Alfred BRUIN (1983.) Cherished mother of Gwen (Ken) MORRIS of Port Elgin, Fred (Marge) BRUIN of Wiarton, Tom (Pat) BRUIN of Gravenhurst and David (Laurie) BRUIN of Wiarton. She will be sadly missed by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sisters Doris MARTIN of Owen Sound and Lillian HABART of London and sister-in-law Anne BRUIN of Windsor. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Ellen (CLARKE) and John VERNON. Family and Friends are invited to share their memories at the George Funeral Home, 430 Mary Street, Wiarton on Sunday, January 6, 2008 from 2: 00 to 4: 00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 11: 00 a.m. Rev. George BELL officiating. Interment Eastnor Cemetery. Donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Wiarton Hospital would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. HICKS, Carole Anne
Surrounded by most of her immediate family and treasured Friends, Carole Anne HICKS, in her 69th year, was ushered into Heaven on Thursday, June 19 at 11: 30 p.m. from L.H.S.C. University Hospital. We were able to pray with her, sing to her and say thank you and good-bye. Carole had fought a brief but difficult battle against numerous illnesses. She was a brave wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. We are thankful that she no longer has to fight but is now with her Heavenly family. Carole is lovingly remembered by her husband Dave, her children Cam HICKS (Nancy, David, Aaron), her daughter Karen BUTLER (Geoff, Kirsten, Matthew), her brother Glen HABKIRK (Sandie, Arlene, Laurie of Lethbridge,) her sister Wendy ROUSCH (Wayne, Christopher, Darren of Calgary) and her sister-in-law Marilyn O'DONNELL (Peter, Melissa, Jennifer, Erin of Mississauga). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 26 at 7 p.m. at The Salvation Army Citadel (555 Springbank Drive). Visitation from 5: 00-6:45 p.m. There will also be a memorial service on Friday, June 27 at 2: 00 p.m. at Zion Amabel United Church in Sauble Beach. HABRAKEN, Gerardus " Gerry"
After a courageous two year battle with cancer Gerry died peacefully at home on Sunday, June 1, 2008. Loving husband of 40 years to his soul mate and best friend Ria (Maria). Lovingly remembered by his sister Dinemie (Willem) and brother Chris (Helga) and all his nieces and nephews. Will be deeply missed by his mother-in-law, sister-in-law and her family and his brother-in-law. Also will be missed by his Friends Jean and Joe and their children to whom he was a special 'uncle' and all other relatives, Friends and acquaintances. Gerry had a passion for his work and was the proud owner for 40 years of I.S.C. International. The family expresses sincere appreciation to Doctor A. ADESANYA and the nurses and staff in the oncology clinic at the Trillium Health Centre and Doctor A. BEZJAK at Princess Margaret Hospital. Their care, dedication and treatment helped to extend Ger ry's life for two more meaningful years. A gift which Ria and those around her cherished. Also special thanks to Doctor A. MacKINTOSH and our wonderful caring nurse Mary for the compassion provided during Gerry's last weeks. Friends may call at the Turner and Porter 'Peel' Chapel 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga (Hwy 10 N of Queen Elizabeth Way) from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 11am.. Private cremation to follow.
